#AtoZChallenge UPDATE Little Mermaid Character Sketches now ‘in living color – King Triton & Neptune

This month is going to be tight. I committed myself to Mary’s 2nd annual #RocktoberMusicFest which is scheduled for 6am EST and yesterday I put up my Oct. 1st BoTB, then each Sunday I share my 4M posts. October is bursting with mewsic and I hope you enjoy every bit of it.

It’s mid-week, so let’s get going with another edition of #WildWednesdays. Today, I thought I’d bring to you more ‘in living color’ re-dos of my pencil drawings from this past April’s A to Z Challenge of my Little Mermaid character sketches.

Last month, I colorized Chef Louis and Max bringing them to life. Today, I’m sharing two more, King Triton and Triton as a boy with his grandfather, Neptune.

The King Triton Procreate recreation, I did a combination of watercolor and crayon texture. If you’ll notice the water looks like it’s moving. That’s effect is called liquify which stretches the color layer to make it appear to flow like water.

In the Neptune Procreate drawing, I continued to experiment with various paint features and color layer.  The beauty with digital artwork is I can erase and do it again without the frustration which is very important to me at this phase.

Unfortunately, I won’t be online today because I’m having a colonoscopy & endoscopy which will put me out of commission until tomorrow but I certainly appreciate you including me in your day and please check back later this morning for day 2 of Rocktober Mewsic Fest

  3. Those drawings came out great. I hope all went well with your procedures. XO

    1. Ellen,

I’m rebounding from yesterday. I got a good report. Now, waiting for the biopsy report to come back negative which I’m 100% confident that it will. I haven’t ever gotten an abnormal reading. Thanks for dropping by, darlin’!

  4. Gorgeous, as usual. And good luck with your medical procedure. Is this a recreational colonoscopy or more serious? Hmm?? (I’m kidding–nothing fun about that procedure).

    1. Jacqui,

Yeah, I didn’t have anything better to do so I decided to get in on the colonoscopy game. lol Nah, all is good. My doc just likes to keep a close check on making sure that I stay healthy with my inflammatory issues. He says because of my history it’s hard to detect cancer because of the inflammation. He also said for folks in my shoes who develops cancer usually get an aggressive form of the disease. Hopefully, I’ll never have to worry about that problem but being proactive could save my life.

  5. You know I love all your artwork. You’re really good. I hope you know that.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

I know I’m not an awful artist but I’m not the best (yet) one, either. I’m happy doing what I can then sharing my results whatever they may be with others. I’m learning you don’t have to be perfect to have fun. Thanks for being such a sweet friend! 😉

  6. Excellent sketches, Cathy! I like the liquefy effect as it give motion to your sketch. Good luck with your procedures and I hope all goes well. ❤️

    1. Eugenia,

I thought the liquefy effect was pretty cool. It’s not perfect but still neat. Thanks for the warm wishes. It went well with no surprises.

  7. Hi, Cathy!

I’m delighted to see more of your black and whites from the A to Z presented “in living color.” You wowed me again this month with your torrent of talent. The first Triton drawing in particular has a three dimensional pop as a result of your tweaking, and your enhancement does indeed make it look like the water is in motion, a very realistic effect! As I gaze upon the scene, my eyes and imagination play tricks on me and the seaweed appears to be swaying in the current. I also love the second rendering, Triton as a boy holding hands with grandfather Neptune. The expression on the boy’s face is natural and endearing. Nicely done!

I wish you an A+ report card on your medical procedures today. I’ll be thinking about you, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Your kind words are like a ray of sunshine to my soul. Thank you for the continued encouragement and support. You’re such a dear friend. 🙂 Everything went well yesterday, other than the sneezing and dripping nose thing that apparently comes from anesthesia. Who knew, right?

    1. Natasha,

Thanks for the quick link to your post. I did swing by briefly yesterday to join your linky party. Everything went well yesterday. Thanks for the healing vibes, my friend!
