April A2Z Art Sketching through the Alphabet “U”

Posted on April 25, 2017

Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, thanks for sticking with me this month for the A2Z Art Sketching Through the Alphabet. I’m especially excited to share the letter “U” drawing of a dark Unicorn!

Typically, I prefer white unicorns but I wanted the challenge to practice shading and this was a purrfect lesson to learn.

Hopefully, what I share with you every day will encourage you to do something that interests you that you’ve long put off because like me you just don’t think you can. My advice is, just do it! Maybe, you’ll be surprised. I know I was! 🙂

I’m heading off to link up with other fellow AtoZers and you’re invited to come along.  I’ll see you on tomorrow for the next installment of Art Sketching through the Alphabet!

This is very well done! I love horses and this is a powerful drawing. You did very well with the shading and I’m all for a black unicorn…something wild and free about it

    Hi, Cathy!

i’m away from home this week (until “W”) and reading your post on a smaller laptop, but that does little to diminish the pleasure of gazing at your U exhibit – the Unicorn. You did another excellent job here, Cathy. The shading looks very natural, showing off the legendary horned creatures’s sturdy body and powerful muscles. Your unicorn appears mighty, majestic and spirited.

Do you remember the folk song “The Unicorn,” the multi-million selling international hit single for the Irish Rovers in 1968?

Thanks for delighting me with another great drawing, Cathy! Purrfect might be a better word, 🙂

      Tom,

I appreciate you stopping to visit. I know making the blogging rounds using a small laptop screen is hard on the eyes but I’m charmed the quality of my sketch was not lost. Thank you for the introduction to “The Unicorn Song”. I love the artists’ thick Irish accents. I wish I had thought to add some mewsic to go with my post but at least you did! Have a good day and be safe in your travels, dear friend!
