A #TeskeyBrothers mini-concert with songs from their Run Home Slow album! #music

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Are you stuffed like that big ole Butterball turkey you had last Thursday? Still eating on those delicious Thanksgiving left-overs?  We are and lovin’ every second of it, too!  Oh, my Cathy can you believe….It’s. The. Last. Day. Of. November?  I know, I know, how did that happen?  The Christmas season is already under way but we won’t talk about that now.  🤫 Let’s just enjoy the moment we’re in, ok?

This week’s Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me theme is your choice song picks.  I’ve got a new band up my sleeve to share with ya. I can’t swear to it but I believe today’s mewsicians I discovered while pouring over various songs on YouTube. Correct me on this because I might be wrong because it might have been you to bend my ear with their sound. Anywho, so to not loss the song that captured my attention of this group’s talent with the video [link—> one on one cellar session that made me go, “Yeah, that’s a keeper!”.  I really loved the old bluesy jazz sound of yesteryear revived to fit these young fellas from Melbourne. I give you the The Teskey Brothers with their 2019 album, Run Home Slow!

Josh (vocals/rhythm guitar) and Sam (lead guitar) Teskey formed the band in 2008. Other band members include, Brendon Love (bass guitar) and Liam Gough (drums). At the 2019 ARIA Music Awards they were nominated for several awards and won in three categories with Run Home Slow. If you enjoyed today’s feature, then I invite you when time allows to sample their latest album, Live at The Forum.

I realized last Monday I jumped the gun so I’m going to do it again, thank you Robin for doing a fabulous job as our honorary co-hostess and I want to give a nod of appreciation for signing to do it again in February! Alrighty that’s anyone and everyone’s cue to check our 2021 openings availability before the calendar fills up. 😉

This week, DH and I are on vacation. Yes,  again but CAAC is armed with posts in my absences for your entertainment. Tomorrow I’m kicking off a whole lot of Christmas mewsic as I’m doing a song-a-day throughout December AND, next Monday the 4M crew kicks off the Christmas season in song where we’ll be sharing festive holiday cheer all month long. Mewsic brings out the best in everyone, especially when it’s the most wonderful time of the year! Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. I try not to stuff myself anymore – it isn’t worth the discomfort and heartburn. But I do love my turkey; I could eat it (almost) every day if I had to. Thank you for the intro to the Teskey Brothers; I really enjoyed this album!

  2. Thumbs up on the Teskeys, especially the fade out! I promise to try to get in the Christmas spirit, but I prefer my “Most Wonderful Time” to come via Andy Williams…

  3. Girlfriend I cannot believe I sent the wrong linky. I’m so sorry. The right one is on my post if you still want to put it here. Again I apologize. Sooooo I love, love, love these songs thanks for the introduction and I too love bluzy tunes a lot. These are great! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Me? I had too much Turkey to say the least. I’m done with Turkey for a whole year as far as I’m concerned. hahahaha Luv you my Cat…. you’re duh best. HUGS

    1. Brian,

I’m glad you enjoyed the Teskey Brothers playlist. It’s super cool to make new mewsic discoveries! Have a sparkletastic day, furriend!

  4. Awww on that adorable kitten. So cute.

It’s hard to believe that this is the last day of November.

Love both videos. I didn’t know the first one had more than one song. Love that throaty voice.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

  5. I am loving the Teskey Brothers. Thanks for the introduction. The Run Home Slow album cover art looks similar to an early John Mayer album. Thomas is probably more accurate in his analogy of Josh’s voice sounding like Otis Redding, but I can also hear a little Delbert McClinton gravel.
Thanksgiving was good. Since the whole family lives pretty close, everyone was at our house for dinner, making left-overs minimal. I started my Christmas Music Marathon on Black Friday and will continue through Christmas…maybe even New Years Day. Have a blessed holiday season.

  6. Good morning! The last day of November which I can’t believe. The first song is quite good and what a nice listen compared to so much crap one hears all the time. Christmas is soon upon us and, no matter what, it will makes us appreciate family and friends even more.

  7. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had an enjoyable weekend.

The picture of a beautiful kitten pawing at autumn leaves is awww-some! If you were a kitty, that’s how I imagine you would look. 🙂

Yessum, I am continuing to stuff myself with leftover turkey day by day. I am also plowing through the potatoes, filling, carrots, Brussels sprouts and pies. I will need a treadmill for Christmas! 🙂

In the last year I have been watching and enjoying several Australian and Kiwi (New Zealand origin) TV series. Likewise, in recent years, I have been introduced to some fine new-to-my-ears singers and musicians from the land down under. Thanks to this post I have now discovered another great Australian music act The Teskey Brothers, a Melbourne-based blues rock, soul and gospel band. I clicked over to their three song set recorded in New York. On the first and third songs, “Crying Shame” and “Pain And Misery,” Josh, the lead singer, sounds exactly like Otis Redding. Now I am listening to your set of studio recordings by the band. If you never saw Josh, you’d swear that you were hearing the vocals of Otis Redding or another black singer like Otis Clay, Wilson Pickett, Syl Johnson or O.V. Wright, artists who recorded a wealth of southern R&B soul in the 60s and 70s. “Paint My Heart,” no doubt inspired by the Otis Redding song “Pain In My Heart,” is epic. On that track the band plays exactly like the studio backing musicians for Stax and Hi Record labels on recordings made in the 60s and 70s. The Teskey Brothers are for real! Your Aussie themed post continues with an uplifting holiday song by another Melbourne artist, Kylie Minogue. One of the veejays at the MTV style station where I worked in the 80s and 90s conducted a live interview with Kylie via Satellite. She had a pleasing personality and was quite humble and gracious in fielding questions.

Your closing meme carries a message that grows more important with every passing day as we struggle to get into the spirit of Christmas still under siege by the pandemic.

Thank you, dear friend Cathy. Have a safe and happy week!
