Welcome, Kittens & Dawgs! Last December, DH and I ventured to one of our favorite mountain communities Bryson City, North Carolina, home of the Smoky Mountain Railway. I’ve shared other photos over the years and you may recall this is one of the locations where you can board the Polar Express. I snapped a close up of a tree ornament in this fabulously holiday decked town. It was rather plain but I saw a photo-editing potential waiting to happen and so with Pixelmator I jazzed it so I could send you A Merry Christmas Greeting!

Lovely and simple! 🙂 As other have said, it would make a beautiful Christmas card.
Oh to have that adventure 🙂
Very nice shot!
Merry Merry!
This is so pretty and just feels like Christmas. I love the photo which you could easily make into a Christmas card.
During the summer my wife, my sister, and I made a stop in Bryson City during a day trip. Didn’t have time for the train, but we stopped in town to eat. The restaurants were all so full that we decided to keep on driving to Cherokee where we went to a Mexican restaurant. As though I don’t eat enough Mexican food in Los Angeles.

Fabulous photo!
Amy, WP had your comment under ‘Spam’ as well as a few other legit commenters. Life has been hectic lately with DH’s new job and trying to enjoy a few more days of togetherness before he started his position. It will take me a few weeks to gain my routine again now that DH is away from home during the day. I’m going to miss him but we’re so glad that he finally found a job! Thanks for stopping for a visit. I’m heading over to your place now. 😉
Ah Brilliant!!! Well done. Such a pretty ornament too. I can’t wait to get my tree up – even though it is a mixture of action figures, old DIY crafty things from my youth and of my own children, shatterproof bulbs and a few nicer ones at the top. A complete mish mash that somehow every year manages to look magical. Christmas miracle! 🙂
Hi, Cathy!
I love what you did to enhance the image of that Christmas ornament. You could print it out and send it through the mail as a greeting card.
I have always been fascinated by trains and train travel. Back in my native Central Pennsylvania I rode the Strasburg Rail Road, described by Wiki as “the oldest continuously operating railroad in the western hemisphere and the oldest public utility in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Located just outside of the town of Strasburg, Pennsylvania, the railroad is a heritage railroad offering excursion trains, hauled by steam locomotives, through the heart of world-famous Pennsylvania Dutch Country.” Mrs. Shady and I would surely love to ride the Polar Express and experience the joy, excitement and wonder of the holidays in small towns connected by the Smoky Mountain Railway. Quoting your own words from those two previous posts: “A Christmasy train adds to the magic of the holidays.” “Life should be celebrated, even when it seems like you have no reason to celebrate. Just look around, I bet you’ll see something good!” Those words of yours inspire me, Cathy. Thank you, dear friend, and have a happy Wednesday!
