A little Latin spice

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Howdy-hi, folks!  Here it is the end of July.  These hot summer days can drag so lets heat things up with the sizzling sound of Latin music on the Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me dance floor for your choice song picks week!

In my YouTube vid stash, I found a link “El Préstamo” by Maluma, born Juan Luis Londoño Arias.  The Colombian singer/song writer is described as reggaeton, Latin trap, and pop.  I won’t pretend to understand that but Wiki says reggaeton and Latin trap originated in Puerto Rico.  If you know what this all means then maybe you can explain it to me. 😉  I built a playlist of the first 6 songs to grab my ears which didn’t resemble reggae in my opinion but then I found Medallin Remixes Pt. 2 album that he did with Madonna which has a reggae/Latin vibe.  I hope you’ll take time to enjoy both playlists.

Maluma playlist: 1.  El Préstamo  2.  Felices los 4  3. Sin Contrato  4. Carnaval  5. Felices los 4 ft. Marc Anthony 6. Agua de Jamaica

Medellin Remixes Pt. 2 playlist:  Nissim Madame X in the Sphinx with no intro, LA95 Dancefloor Legend X Remix, John Chritian & DJLW Remix, Sak Noel Remix, & LA95 Remix.  Note: all of these tracks are prefixed with ‘Medellin’.  Why is that?

This month’s honorary co-hostess is Robin from SongBirdsCrazyWorld

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

Before I forget, I got a response from little Binky and Granny who reports all is well with them.  CatLadyMac was concerned about our furriends because of flooding in their part of the world but Granny told me they live high on a mountain.  The roads beneath them got flooded and they couldn’t drive but were far luckier than others.  I know I was super relieved to know that they are well.  I appreciate CatLadyMac for calling this to my attention.😘

That’s it for this time.  I want to say thanks to Robin for being a dynamic honorary co-hostess this month.  Up next, is my August 1st BoTB.  I hope y’all will stop by to cast your vote!  Next Monday, we’ll be dancing to songs about friendship or with Friends in the title on the Monday’s Music Moves Me dance floor and you’re invited to join the party. 😉  Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. Hi there AGAIN! I hope this one stays! I have been trying to do a post where I always do, and it just isn’t staying. I think I need to figure out the other one don’t you? You know the one. It’s not coming to mind at the moment. I’ve been having trouble with my memory. Dam, I hate getting old. It’s such a waste. My memory just isn’t what it use to be. I feel so bad dumping all this junk on you. Maybe we can find someone else to help you until I find a computer that likes me, and gives you a break. hmmmm I’d rather get this computer that likes me. Anyway, I went for my test today. You have to have a covid test before I can get my pain shot. Woo Hoo Praise the Lord I cannot wait. That will lift so much off my mind and back. Girlfriend, I cannot tell you how close I feel to you and if you need or want anything say the word and if it is within my means just tell me and consider it done! Love ya girlfriend… we’ll talk soon. It’s time for a short nap for me. Come on Friday… I cannot wait. Pray all goes well please!!! hmmmm I believe Alana is on that website I was thinking about…. is that her name… yeah I have to go look… so if I need help and I cannot get ahold of you I’ll contact her if I have any questions…. is that okay with you? Okay, talk with you soon… I’ll copy this and email it to you too! HUGS… Pray for me that my shot goes okay and no more pain for a while. HUGS

    1. Marie,

Are you referring to trying your old Blogspot web again? If so, I’m happy to try to help you get going there or maybe my teaching isn’t so good. It is difficult to do these things over the phone. I tell you, my hat is off to those in technical support. I’ll call you today between 12:30 – 1:00pm. I would’ve called you but you mentioned you’ve been laid up in bed and the phone didn’t work in your bedroom so I didn’t want to bother you. I was afraid hospitals would say something like if you want to be treated here you have to have a Covid test. What a bummer! I don’t know how much that is for safety than it is for the power it gives them over people. sigh Oh well…I’ll call you this afternoon, darlin’. Have a good day!

  2. I am finally here and so glad Binky & Granny are safe and hope not too much was lost. Love listening to the Latin flavour even when they went into some Rap, it sounded better than the usual. Hope you are having a wonderful Summer..Miss you on Weekly Music Picks

  3. OMC did we enjoy that mewsic, Cathy. Maluma’s mewsic brings back so much memories and how I miss dancing like in those days, somewhere around when Maluma was born😸 Thank you for the shout out, that was very sweet of you. Thank Cat we’re back to kind of normal 😉 That quote is spot on..phew🙈Pawkisses for a wonderful day and hope to be here next week again🐾😽💞

    1. Binky & Granny,

I’m glad y’all were able to join me on the dance floor. I can’t dance like I use to but grooving to the tunes no matter how I move is the most important thing these days. I’m glad things are getting back to normal for you and am so happy all is well. Have a boogietastic day!

  4. I grew up in New York City, and rode the subways regularly. I grew up hearing a lot of Latin influenced music; the 5th selection on the first playlist reminded me so much of that music. I’ve been to Monticello (Jefferson’s home) three times over the years; Jefferson was indeed a complex (and multi-talented) man.

    1. Alana,

I’d say growing up in NYC was interesting. I can’t imagine living in such a huge city. It frightens me a bit but it’s all in what you’re used to I suppose. I would like to visit Monticello. That would be awesome. I love historical places.

    1. Natasha,

We’re under blue skies and hot, humid weather. The end of July and August is the hottest part of summer for us. We’re looking forward to September getting here but not winter which will shortly follow. The days are melting away, aren’t they? Thanks for visiting, darlin’!

      1. True they always do. Times flies, but then maybe time is a social construct. :))

        Hugs Hugs my darlin’ xoxox

    1. Mimi,

I think our forefathers saw enough in their times to know what the future holds if we don’t protect ourselves and liberties. You’d think folks would be like, maybe these old dudes know what they are talking about but sadly that’s not the case. These same individuals who won’t look at the past will certainly cause history to repeat itself with criminals (private & government) ruling the land. Thanks for dropping by, my dear!

  5. Such great tunes here. Thanks for sharing them. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

  6. Some great music here! My guess is that, since the album is called “Medellin remixes,” they probably added that for emphasis. Medellin is a city in Colombia where all the illegal drug trade is based, but I don’t know what that has to do with it…

Like Driller said, Jefferson was right…

    1. John,

Hmm, I didn’t know this about Medellin but then I know South America has a reputation for illegal drug trading. I love the music and some of the scenic areas I’ve seen in photographs. The TV series Long Way Up, third in the series, with motorcyclist Charley Boorman and actor, Ewan McGregor focused on the adventures from the southern tip of South America heading toward Los Angeles. We’re not motorcyclists but this it was a lot of fun to watch. Apple TV has all three series. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

  7. Awww on that pup wrapped in our precious flag. I want that pup.

    Love the spicy Latin video.

We are also happy Little Binky and Granny are okay too.

Love the quote from Jefferson. Spot on.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Hey Sandee,

Thanks for popping over to enjoy the music, my Awww Monday’s photo, and Jefferson ‘Sparks’ quote. Have a boogietastic day!

  8. Thank you for introducing some truly new-to-me music.
Thant is one Aww…some patriotic pup.
    Jefferson was right.

Have a blessed week my friend.

  9. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Aww-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend!

I wanna smooch that patriotic pup! I remember a time when it was considered disgraceful for the American flag to be worn as clothing. Times change and attitudes change, at least some attitudes.

This playlist offered a refreshing change from the type of mewsic you usually post and the type I typically listen to. However, I will quickly add that I did listen to this style of music for years as a weekly viewer of the Miami-based Univision TV music series Caliente (Hot) which broadcast 417 episodes between 1995 and 2006. Yessum, I have eclectic taste in mewsic and thoroughly enjoyed these sets of song sets by Colombian Urbano (Urban Latin) artist Juan Luis Londoño Arias aka Maluma. I admit that I liked the first batch more than the remixes with Madonna. The first block of songs contained music videos that gave us a peek into the Latin Urban culture and lifestyle. The style of mewsic and the scenes in the videos remind me of the trips Mrs. S and I took to Puerto Rico and Mexico. They are sexy and very macho, similar in that respect to the macho genre I am blogging about this week in a post hosted by your friends and mine – The Gecko Brothers from the TV series From Dusk Till Dawn. As you recall, you are the friend who got me interested in watching that series.

Cathy, I missed you last week when I celebrated my 13th blogiversary. I’m sorry you couldn’t attend my platter party. I just want to express here and now what I was going to tell you last week, that I am grateful for your ongoing loyal friendship and support these last 7 years. Thank you for sticking with me! Have a safe and happy week, dear friend Cathy. I’ll see you this weekend when I vote in your BOTB!

    1. Tom,

I never knew this about the American flag. I think one’s love for this country is perhaps reason why some wear choose to wear her. I do love patriotic clothing, especially t-shirts. DH has a button down shirt that looks like the flag which is really quite handsome unless I wear it then it’s quite pretty. lol

I’m sorry I missed stopping by last week for your blogiversary but I did pop over to join the festivities late. I, too value our friendship and am happy that we continue to build on what we started years ago. Common ground and respect are vital elements friends need to cling to because we all can’t be alike, nor can we agree on everything all the time. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!
