K.D. Lang is a Canadian pop, country singer/songwriter with an eerie sorta resemblance to the late Karen Carpenter that I found a bit mesmerizing in her cover of the classic hit made popular by The Hollies (1974) and landing them in at #2 on the UK and #6 on the US mewsic charts, but what I found it interesting is that the songwriter, Albert Hammond, first recorded “The Air That I Breathe” in 1973.

🙁 I have a hard time trying to figure out how your blog works, never seem to be sure where I am commenting ;(
Oooh oooh oooh! I love K.D. Lang! Love your song choice, Cathy! And I almost picked that Bach classic, too – I love that you did! 🙂 Thanks for the awesome dance – have a great week! 🙂
I never thought K.D. Lang sounded like Karen Carpenter, but you are right, she does. All I can think of is the group Air Supply.
Ellen, I wasn’t familiar with Lang before now or at least not her name. I may have heard her mewsic at some point but didn’t know who she was. So, this morning, I have her top YouTube vids playing in the background. She has a fabulous voice. What’s odd is that she doesn’t sound like I picture her! lol
Thanks for hosting!
Charles, You’re welcome and it’s great to see you here today!
Hello, I recognize the song, it is pretty. Thanks for sharing. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
Eileen, Happy Monday to you! I’m glad you popped in for a little mewsic and boogie on the floor with. Feel free to join anytime!
Air That I Breathe: What a wonderful old song that I hadn’t heard in awhile––not new like the Bach tune. 😉 But dang, Katie Lang was born in 1961 . . . she’s old! She’s even a few months older than me!
Joyce, “Air That I Breathe” is a good one. I’ve always liked it. Lang is a month older than me but that doesn’t mean she’s old or you’re old because, let’s face it, I’m not old. 😀 And, that’s the story I’m sticking to until….forever! So, glad you came by today!
I like the K.D. Lang song and we both picked Bach-LOL. I guess we both have a great musical taste.
Patrick, That’s great! lol We’re like two peas in a pod, huh? Thanks for stopping in for a dance, my friend!
I thought that was an older song. We’re going to see quite the variety today. Air was a tricky word.
Alex, “Air” was a bit tricky of a theme but I think everyone is doing a good job. I’m finding some repeats but I’ve gotten introduced to some new ones like yours. I enjoy a challenge!
Happy Monday, Cathy!
At the time of its release, I didn’t pay much attention to the Hollies hit “Air That I Breathe” because it was a softer, more mellow song and I was into the harder stuff and mewsic with a dance beat. Now that I have listened to k.d. lang’s cover I realize how beautiful and well written a song it is. I like how it starts dead slow and works its way into a groove. It is very unusual for a recording to run 2:17 before the song title is actually sung for the first time.
Thanks for helping us to cleanse our palates with a classical composition by Bach. It’s good to be reminded that at one time mewsic was made to touch the heart and nourish the soul, and gangsta rap was still light years away.
Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!
Tom,
I think many of the great composures of yesteryear would plug their ears if they heard gangsta rap. Oh, how I hate that stuff! Whenever a young black singer does anything other than rap today I’m like now that’s how it’s done. There were a lot of excellent Motown artists who made the sound great back in the day without rapping. I wish more would follow the footsteps of those great oldie groups!
You have a good week, too my friend!
I’ve never thought of any resemblance with Karen Carpenter, but they do have a similarity in vocal styles. Though Carpenter was marvelous, I prefer lang’s music. I own a good many of her albums.

Lee, Lang is a new-to-me discovery. I enjoyed her version of The Hollies classic (Hammond’s cover) hit. I will need to listen to more of her mewsic since I like her style. Thanks for visiting this morning. I’ll be by your place a little later. 🙂
I’ve been listening to and buying lang’s albums since the mid-80’s when she was doing country punk. She has a good version of “Never Promised You a Rose Garden”. But I definitely prefer her mellower stuff that came later.
