In all fairy tales, there’s always a villain or two or three. I decided to draw (sight only) today’s pair of slippery wicked eels Flotsom & JETSOM.
This shady twosome isn’t one of my finer artist endeavors but I persevered through it anyhow coming up with a mediocre drawing. Another time, I will tackle (on paper of course) these two wicked creatures again. 🙂
I never knew how to tell one eel from the other. According to the Disney Fandom page, the way to distinguish between the eels is in the eyes. Each has one yellow eye – Flotsom’s right and Jetsom’s left eye.
Up until now, I couldn’t figure out why these henchmen disturbed me. It’s because Disney portrayed them, unlike other villain lackeys who were silly, goofy-ups but these creatures as wickedly competent. You know the old saying, what goes around, comes around? Without spoiling the film for those who have yet to see it, let’s just say these two got what they deserved in the end.

They are quite disturbing! I like your sketch 🙂

Ronel,
I was really surprised that Disney made Jetsom & Flotsom that spooky for a children’s film, aren’t you?
Oh, my! A gruesome twosome. Beware of a slippery eel(s). Good job, Cathy!
They are ruthless, aren’t they? Sorry I’m a bit lacking in visits this month. I’m trying to balance my Feedly with the AtoZ Master List. There are so many people to see!
Doesn’t Speak Klingon
Quite sinister-looking twins!
The eyes on Flotsom make him look especially devious. Maybe Jetsom should watch out.

They were certainly not dumb henchmen, and i can imagine tough to draw. You did quite well!
How funny (but useful!) about the yellow eye!
Nice to see a familiar face back again this year. 🙂
Happy A-Z’ing
That came out great.
Definitely not my favorite characters… well done with the drawing!
Trudy,
No one likes a villain. Thanks for dropping by!
Love their faces – I think you DID do a good job!
Sandy,
Thanks! I found this drawing a bit difficult to get but everyone seems to like it. Being critical of oneself is something we all do, isn’t it? I’m happy you got to visit today!
Oh my gosh, Cathy dear you have hit this one right on the money for sure! Love, love, love these guys… and they look like you pulled them right out of the movie. Great job my friend. GREAT job!!! I cannot wait until tomorrow to see who you’re going to focus on next! You have a great day… I have to move on to see other goodies for sure! Big Hugs & have a great day! See ya tomorrow!
Marie,
Oh, you’re way too kind, girlfriend! I wish it was as good as the original but I know it’s not and that’s okay. I’m good with what I did with the limitations that I have with my skill set. Hopefully, I will continue to improve a little each day. 😉
I think you did a great job. They certainly are sinister looking and I really disliked them in the movie!
Janet,
I was going for a sinister look but I was afraid I didn’t quite capture it.
I think you did a great job with these two. I can do stick figures, but no very well.
Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥
Hi Cathy,
Though these eels are villains of the series, they look quite chirpy and happy-go-lucky kind!
I must say you have put lots of effort in detailing them specially their expression. Fine work 👍
My J post – http://evergreenleaf.blogspot.com/2019/04/j-joy-atozchallenge-2019.html
Kislaya,
Chirpy and happy-go-lucky wasn’t what I was going for but I know I didn’t get their full wickedness properly captured. Thanks for visiting. 😉
Such a super cool duo!
Thanks, Brian!
Once again you u dear value your artistry. I really like these eels and you captured their villainous personalities
Birgit,
I’m glad you like my sketchy pair of eels I sketched.
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Thursday and “J” day to you, dear friend!
As I told you at the outset, I am not familiar with any of the characters in The Little Mermaid, but I am especially interested in Disney’s use of these sinister eels as villains. I disagree with your claim that Flotsom and Jetsom are not among your finer artistic endeavors. I think they are very well drawn. They look slippery and wicked, truly loathsome. Only their mother could love them (and tell them apart). 🙂 It fascinates me that some Disney projects like The Little Mermaid included competent, genuinely frightening villains in addition to whimsical ones that were not as disturbing and were more easily defeated by the good characters.
Well done, dear friend Cathy. Have a happy Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow!
Tom,
Thank you, my friend, for your lovely words. I’m happy that you like the sketch of these evil-doers. It’s true only a mother can love her child/children in spite of eel behavior. Have a wonderful day!
