#1 Peak 2016 Songs

Good morning, Kittens & Dawgs!  I feel I lost a year mewsically.  What I mean is I don’t recall the hits played on the radio.  I was a bit disconnected. That being said since it’s the last day of the year and I thought I’d feature some #1 Peak 2016 Songs mentioned on this listed.

Bieber has two other #1 peak songs Sorry (I like this one) and What Do You Mean (doesn’t really reel me in).  The next song features Bieber. I’m undecided if I like it or not but it does make me wanna dance.

What did you think of today’s mewsic? Do you have a favorite? Have you heard these before today?  What song released this year that you like a lot? Feel free share a vid or a link in comments for me and others to discover.

That’s a wrap for this week. I’d like to say farewell to 2016 and to the musicians who passed mentioned on Ranker and We❤️Music.  Y’all be safe if you venture out with the party going crowd.  I’m stayin’ home with the One I love having pizza, watching a few movies, snacking,  and shortly before midnight countdown with millions in Time Square as the ball drops ringing in the New Year.  I hope to see you back on Monday. You’ll have lots of tunes to get you moving with Mewsic Moves Me as well as my Jan. 1st BOTB showdown. Have a songsational Saturday!

  1. I have heard of all these songs but the only one I like is Hello by Adele. This seems to be the most original to me. The others…most sound like something from American Idol or one of those other music shows. They all sound similar to me. Drake is the best of the others(except for Adele) but I would never listen to it on my CD player ( yes I have one plus a record player:)). Happy New Year! We will be doing the same thing unless my hubby goes to bed early since he is not one for this holiday.

  2. Hi, Cathy!

I’m back home and up bright (dark) and early to listen to your tuneage. i checked out the list you referred to, the The UK’s Top 40 Official Biggest Songs of 2016. It made me realize how superficial my knowledge of current pop music actually is, how many artists and songs I still don’t know, never even heard of, even though I have been immersed in modern pop throughout 2016 and ran a 12-part series on it. As you know I favor female vocalists as soloists and in collaboration with male artists, and therefore I was familiar with the videos by Chainsmokers and Adele. However, I also remember seeing the Mike Posner “Ibiza” vid earlier in the year. Of the ones that you posted that are new to me, I enjoyed the songs and vids by Drake, Zayn and Shawn Mendes. Of the 40 songs on that UK list, I found only 3 that were included in my posts on SDMM this year, including “Cake By the Ocean,” which is in my current New Year’s Rockin’ Eve post, and a cover of “Shout Out,” which was in my Christmas post.

    6 LUSH LIFE ZARA LARSSON
23 CAKE BY THE OCEAN DNCE
39 SHOUT OUT TO MY EX LITTLE MIX (cover by Jada Facer)

Mrs. Shady and I are going to celebrate New Year’s Eve much the same way as you and DH. We’re going to make popcorn, watch a movie, search the sky for a fireworks display and watch New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on ABC.

Happy new year, dear friend Cathy. May 2017 bring many blessings to you and your family!

  3. I don’t keep up with much of today’s music, but as you might recall, I was pretty impressed with Bieber’s Purpose album. “7 Years Old” is a nice song too.
