A-Z Challenge

X-ray

Howdy-hi, y’all!  Naturally, there are no Looney Tune characters that start with the letter and was an eXercise for my brain to come up with something but as soon as I put in my search criteria xray  + Looney Tunes, I got a few ideas but I believe only one of the images was from an actual short.  Here’s Bugs getting an X-ray.

X-ray

The instant I saw the image I knew that I’d seen the cartoon but I couldn’t recall the name of it.  After digging around a bit, then asking DH for suggestions I found the short the image came from in which Bugs accidentally gets his neighbors draft notice and complies with Uncle Sam’s request to report for duty causing quite the stir.  Go back in time with this vintage black and white, Forward March Hare from 1953.

Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your day.  Please leave a direct link for today’s post in comments to ensure others can find an easy way back to you.  I’m heading over to the A2Z headquarters to see who’s joined the party now.  I hope to see you again tomorrow for the next letter in the alphabet in my Looney Tunes Art Sketch series! I was wondering what you would do for x, and of course you nailed it. Another blast from the past that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Very cool drawing. I like that the carrot shows up so well in the x-ray too.
I love letter X posts! Always such variety.
It’s hard to believe the blogging challenge is almost over for 2021. Then the after survey, reflections, and the road trip sign-up.
Plus, I’m taking part in the Bout of Books read-a-thon in May. So much excitement!

X-rays are kind of funny I guess. They seem to show up somewhat frequently in cartoons. Probably the image of a skeleton is kind of entertaining.

I have a grand child who is beginning to show an interest in Loony Toons. I am going to share this blog series with her.

I love that sketch with the shock on the Doc and Bugs still holding his carrot. I had a feeling this would be the one you would use today because it’s the first thing that popped into my head. When I saw this cartoon is was in colour. Tom is right about Bugs and Groucho.

      Birgit,

Once I thought of x-ray I was pretty certain I remembered Bugs getting one in a cartoon and as soon as I saw the DuckGo image I knew it. It just took me a bit to find which short it came from, though. Tom is full of wonderful tidbits like this he shared about Bugs and Groucho. I just love learning stuff like this!

Thanks, Sandee! Your continued friendship and support are invaluable to me. I only wish I could’ve done better with staying ontop of my return visits this time around.

Hey Cath, I was trying to think of an X too and I could only come up with one that looks like an X but I bet you’re going to use him tomorrow. {I must have got distracted because I had too many tabs open and I thought I had finished this comment}. This has been so much fun I’m going to be sad to see it come to an end. What is next on the agenda???
    Cheers,

      Barbie,

What’s next for me is to get caught up all the way around. I’ve managed to stay on top of things with a few bloggers, such as you, but I haven’t responded to messages left on my blog. Once I get these things done, I have plans to bring all of my pencil sketches to life colorizing them using digital technology. I hope you’re subscribed to my posts via email so you can watch for the moment I publish each new addition. 🙂

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy X-day, dear friend! The end of the 2021 A to Z Challenge draws near.

It made me laugh to see your drawing of Bugs Bunny being x-rayed while still holding his carrot. It occurred to me that Bugs’ carrot was as much of a trademark as the cigar we always saw Groucho Marx holding and smoking. In fact, I just did some reading on the side and found this person who discussed the similarities between Bugs and Groucho: << Certainly Bugs uses a carrot similarly to how Groucho used a cigar. Also, certain Groucho mannerisms and attributes follow Bugs in a way that does not occur for other Loony Toon stars — Porky, Daffy, Foghorn, etc etc etc. For example, we see Bugs waggling his eyebrows as Groucho does. >> You were lucky to find the actual cartoon short that your sketch came from. It was a hoot to see Bugs mistakenly drafted into the U.S., Army and undergo rigorous basic training. As Bugs read that eye chart and passed with flying colors, it proved that eating carrots improves your vision.

This was X-tra fun, dear friend Cathy. I’ll be back tamale for Y-day. Y? – because I like you! 🙂

      Tom,

That’s interesting tidbits of Bugs and Groucho’s similarities. I think subconsciously I picked up on this but I didn’t give it much thought until you mentioned these things this morning. I sure do appreciate your visits. Your comments always bring a smile to my face. 😀
