Wild Wednesdays Bad Moon Rising #BoTB showdown

Wild Wednesdays share: a 2014 Mother’s Day moon shot from my front porch using my big girl camera, Nikon D7000 and telephoto lens 300mm
Buy Me a Coffee at ko-fi.com

This won’t be the usual MO for each week while on my summer hiatus but since I am doing a mid-month BoTB then I thought why not add a picture from my archives to go along with my battle song theme.

Please read: Aces are wild birthing the idea of my new mid-week hop WILD WEDNESDAYS (#WildWednesdays) and all personal bloggers are invited to promote yourself. Share your photos, artwork, music, musings, randomness, or more because we want to connect with you. Warning… please NO CRUDE CONTENT and spammers will be DELETED without prejudice. Thank you!

For the most part I’m still on a long break. This time of year makes perfect sense with Internet traffic typically slow to no show until after Labor Day.

My BoTB inspired song choice comes from next week’s 4M mewsic theme. While I was researching moon related tune possibilities, I knew I’d find CCR’s Bad Moon Rising among the choices, which got me to thinking why not check out cover artists? SecondHandSongs shows 112 versions of this 1969 classic rock hit, mostly recordings by male artists.  Naturally, I was curious to sample the few female singers covering this song. My first artist, Little Hurricane is new discovery but my second pick Ann Wilson you probably know as the lead singer from the 70s/80s band, Heart.

If you don’t know how this works,  it’s easy because it weren’t then I couldn’t do it. 🙂  You don’t need to know the artist or song, just listen to both covers and tell me comments who you like best. You can’t get this wrong unless you don’t vote at all and then you might get some eye rolls. 🙄 😄

To see a complete list of participants, check with our faithful leader and member coordinator, Stephen.

Polls close noon (EST) on 21st

Who gets your vote, Little Hurricane or Ann Wilson ft. Gretchen Wilson?

Next week, same time slot I’ll be back to announce the winner in this round and host another Wild Wednesdays party, so be sure to mark your calendar to join me to see if your favorite artist wins in this showdown. X💋X💋, Cathy

My vote is for Ann Wilson & HEART! They have always been a favorite of mine so maybe I’m prejudice. Sorry! Have a great day! HUGS

The first one was an interesting take on the song but I give it to Ann who kept the tune the same while still making it her own. Hope you are well and staying cool

Very nice pic and I have to choose Ann Wilson. Hope you are enjoying your break. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

I hate to say this, but I think I like Little Hurricane’s version better. I do love Ann Wilson, though, but give my vote to Little Hurricane. I like their spookier vibe. In my own Bad Moon Rising battle, Ann lost to The Killers.

I need to go get caught up on your blog – I knew you’d had a bad week, but didn’t know why. I sure hope it’s better from here on out!

    Good song choice!

I’m not really familiar with LITTLE HURRICANE, but they get my BOTB bote easily! I really liked that staccato approach they used, and the rawness of their style definitely puts across that foreboding feeling of a bad moon rising.

The Ann Wilson version was OK, but it didn’t exactly wow me. Kind of a typical approach without a lot of originality.

Little Hurricane had an interesting idea, doing the song in a minor key, and had I not liked Ann and Gretchen Wilson’s cover so much, they might get my vote. Give my vote to Ann and Gretchen.

Ann Wilson has this one hands down. Love the country twist. I to prefer Creedence Clearwater though, but that wasn’t a choice.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

I decided to try a mid-month Battle again to see how it would go. Things do get slow this time of year.

The Little Hurricane version is unique, but it started to wear thin on me. I think Ann Wilson is a pretty great rock and roller and I did like the fiddle touch so I’m going with Ann on this round.

Hope you’ll stop by to vote on my Battle.

    Hi, Cathy!

Sorry for coming late, dear friend. I forgot this is the 15th and you pledged to participate in the BOTB on this date. By the time I remembered, I got called away by Mrs. Shady on family biz. You know how that goes.

Your big girl camera captured a spectacular shot of the moon, dear friend! The moon is so large it seems as if you took the picture aboard a spacecraft headed in that direction.

Turning my attention to your band battle, I’m surprised to learn there are no fewer than 112 cover versions of “Bad Moon Rising.” It was unusual for me to hear Ann Wilson going country on her version of the song, a recording made with country singer Gretchen Wilson featuring hoedown fiddling throughout.the recording. Their “Bad Moon” collaboration is found on Hope & Glory, Ann’s first solo album released in 2007 which contains wall-to-wall covers, nearly every song recorded by Ann along with a prominent guest artist.

My pick, my vote, is for the refreshingly new and different arrangement found on the version by the San Diego based dirty blues band Little Hurricane. I am assuming we are hearing the duo’s frontman “Tone” Catalano on lead vocals and his female partner “C.C.” Spina pounding the drums. I like their version better than the CCR original! Please enter my vote for Little Hurricane!

Thank you for the mewiscal entertainment, dear friend Cathy. I hope your week is going better than the last. My thoughts are with you and your loved ones, dear friend!
