It was a direction I wouldn’t have gone on my own had it not been for the challenge. I remember thinking I wanted to do more designs using the technique but never got around to doing it until now.  I used Procreate to sketch a cute unicorn for t-shirt design for my L.A. and I began to wonder, why not rework it using points and dots.  This is what I came up with.

I call her Cotton Candy

I’m pleased with how this illustration came together.  I like the effect of all the points and dots give my art but I don’t think this is a method I’d like to use all the time. It’s tiring for my hand. It’s definitely fun for a change.

When I make L.A.’s t-shirt I probably won’t use the points and dot design but instead I’ll simply paint the picture on her shirt using fabric paint markers.

This week’s Thankful Thursday list I include these blessings…

  1. I’m thankful for the nice warm weather.
  2. I’m thankful we got everything or close to it back in  place in the Avalon.
  3. I’m thankful DH was able to make a few repairs on the roof.
  4. I’m thankful for the early start on preparing our Thanksgiving dinner.
  5. I’m thankful for my passions that fill me with happiness and hope.

Last month, I picked up once more playing along with Kat’s writing prompts.  Writing was my first creative passion. I hope to revive this dormant side of me before it becomes a lost art altogether. This week I’m using Kat’s prompt to write a post inspired by the word: fun.

In my B.C. (before children) years I didn’t have any hobbies.  I went to school and worked. DH and I took part in a monthly dinner club consisting of a small circle of friends from church.  It was at one of our dinner’s that I learned about Carol’s crafting passion. She did a lot of tow painting, mostly wooden cut out designs. She did a fabulous job. Eventually she moved into making tye-dyed t-shirts then began painting on sweat/t-shirts.  It was in that moment I felt the creative hooks dig in.

It wasn’t until after our first child was born that I took the initiative to start crafting.  Being a stay at home mom provided me a little free time to devote to DIY projects and even candy making. All new beginnings but things that have stayed with me throughout the years.  I’ve made Christmas wreaths, fall leaf paint imprinted tee & sweatshirts, salt-dough Christmas ornaments, Christmas images transferred then painted by hand onto sweatshirts, soap and lip gloss making, and I made various home-made candies. All of these were wonderful fun projects for making rich traditions for my family.

Over the years I pulled away from crafting but I kept up my candy making skills. This year is the first in many for me to get the nudge to paint a t-shirt design. I credit the new energy and interest now that I have a grand daughter. I made her an adorable little Halloween design last month and now I’m looking forward to continuing the fun with a Christmas design.  I don’t rely transfer images as in the old days. Instead, I now paint free-style designs inspired by images I see or my own creations. Art puts a whole lot of happiness in my life and it’s great fun to share it with others!

Thanks for stopping in with your morning coffee for a peek at my latest illustration and …oh yeah, thanks for not spilling it on my artwork. 😉 I’m heading over to Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry and you’re welcome to follow along!

I’ll be back tomorrow with an edition of Friday Fun Stuff chockful of giggles, fill-ins, & more! Come join the fun! X💋X💋, Cathy
