Awww Mondays

Sandee, hostess of Awww Mondays at  Comedy-Plus is this month’s honorary co-hostess. This third week of September, her theme is Movie Songs! This should be a lot of fun.  I started building a playlist of the first songs that popped in my brain only to realize that I was on repeat mode from past similar themed weeks.  You probably won’t believe this but the last time we stepped foot in a theatre was 1990. My gears got to cranking sounding like a broken bicycle chain coming up with the idea to share a movie soundtrack when my eyes fell on one of my favorite movies, Back to the Future.  Okay, let’s get this party started.  The first YT playlist I borrowed the 10-song set missed a few tracks from the film but it’s incomplete.

Song tracks: 1. Power of Love ~Huey Lewis & the News 2. Time Bomb Town ~Lindsey Buckingham 3. Back To The Future ~Huey Lewis & the News 4. Heaven Is One Step Away ~Eric Clapton 5. Back in Time ~Huey Lewis & the News 6. Overture 7. The Wallflower ~Etta James 8. Night Train ~Harry Walters, Jr. 9. Earth Angel ~Harry Walters, Jr, 10. Johnny B. Goode ~Mark Campbell

I created this short playlist with 4 additional titles from the movie..

1. Mister Sandman ~The Four Aces 2. The Ballad of Davy Crockett ~Fess Parker 3. Pledging My Love ~Johnny Ace 4. Out the Window <—scene clip (uncredited Eddie Van Halen)

I loved going to the movies during those early years of our marriage but I hated missing segments of the film for unplanned bathroom trips, nasty theatre seats, and sticky floors.  Home video rentals replaced the need to escape to the Big Screen from a much smaller box from the comfort of our living room, an affordable way to entertain on a budget with a growing family to now home streaming new or old movies from our plasma TV with no children at home.  I by far prefer to watch movies this way low cost, endless breaks without loss of viewing, and no mess chairs or floor….unless we spill something.

This is a music link up.  Hence, your post must contain music (at least one song) or your URL is marked “No Music”. The party co-hostess are now featured in my right side bar underneath the 4M banner. The guidelines are simple.  Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. YouTube and other music sites have options to create and embed playlists or individual songs into your post. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you – your choice. Finally, to access the dance party, just add your music post below, and visit others on the floor. Let the party begin!

Big news alert…we have a grandson!  I’ll be sure to try to fill everyone in on the details next week.  My brain has been super fuzzy!  Also, I forgot to mention that my mid-month BOTB published on Friday and that I’ll be back next time with a new installment of Wild Wednesday featuring another revamped drawing in my Pencil Sketch Inspired Procreate Art Design series. This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietasticweek!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Quotes from the film

“Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.” — Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd)

“Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one.” — Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox)

Hop over to see Sandee for more Awww Mondays fun-spiration!

Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! I’m starting off this week wrong already.  I will be a way to tend to some appointments but I’ll be boogieing with you tomorrow.  Although, I’m not here it’s still fabulous that you dropped by today! Are you ready to groove to some mewsic? Michelle’s July “number song titles” theme inspired me to create a playlist containing phone number song titles/lyrics.

FYI:  playlist inspiration derived from popculturemadness, vulture, and steveharveyfm.

When I was a kid in the mid-60s, my parents had a telephone on a party line which meant more than one family shared the same line.  The way you knew to answer was by your assigned number of long/short rings but that didn’t keep people from listening in on your conversation.  If you had a good ear, you could hear the click when someone picked up. 🙂  It seems when making long distance calls, I recall the adults always using the operator for assistance.

They would give the city and state with the four or five digit phone number.  The first two songs on my playlist are some examples with Pennsylvania 6-5000 by Glenn Miller and Beechwood 4-5789 covered by The Carpenters.  The original was done in 1965 by The Marvelettes.  It was the discovery of 867-5309/Jenny (Tommy Tutone) that inspired my theme spin-off.  There aren’t a lot of song titles or lyrics that use phone numbers but I was happily introduced to several new title with 853-5937 Squeeze, 634-5789 Wilson Pickett, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap AC/DC, Diary Alicia Keys, Kiss Me Thru the Phone Soulja Boy, 6060-842 B-52, & 842-3089 (Call My Name) Etta James.

It’s funny, I cannot remember the phone number my parents had when I was a kid but I do remember my best friend’s parents’ phone number which is still in service.  Do you remember your childhood phone number? How about your best friend’s phone number?  Have you called a phone number mentioned in a song or in a movie?

This is a ‘NO THEME’ week, so anything goes and you’re invited to boogie with my fellow co-hosts: XmasDolly (Party Coordinator) whose still recuperating from back surgery but should be out of the hospital soon and Stacy had day surgery last Thursday and might be too sore to dance and Alana who I don’t think has fallen apart yet but is experiencing issues with her elderly MIL and Colette I presume is still taking it easy from her eye surgery and then there’s me – a little hard of hearing but ready to shake my tail feathers! Kindly say a little prayer for my gals before you step onto the dance floor!

[tweetthis]Hit the dance floor for #notheme #music week on #MondaysMusicMovesMe.  Boogie to my picks “phonenumber song titles/lyrics”! @xmasdolly [/tweetthis]

Keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and I’ll be boogieing over to see you soon.

X💋X 💋,  Cathy

Before you leave, I’d like to share one last song. It’s not a dance song. My MIL sang this to our children when they were small. Why she did, I can’t tell you. It doesn’t matter they loved listening to their her voice.

SWING LOW, SWEET CHARIOT Etta James

Last Monday, we laid her to rest and I’m certain the angels sang this very tune, as they carried her home. God-bye, Dorothy! You’ll be missed, but I know you’re in heaven. What a spectacular reunion it must have been for you on the other side. You were a wonderful mother to me and I love you! Thanks, dear friends for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. They were very much felt and appreciated. Please continue to keep my sweet FIL lifted up. He really needs them.

Next stop… your place! What music moves you?

Welcome to the 98th edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me featuring the 100th week Gala Giveaway!

Marie from Xmas Dolly is head conductor of the Love Train. To make sure things run smoothly, she has enlisted a few co-conductors: Lorie of The Shewbridges of Central Florida, Callie of JAmericanSpice, Stacy of Stacy Uncorked , and yours truly! This month’s honorary co-conductor is: Larry from CakeBlast!

Let’s get this dance party started, shall we? This week’s theme is “Gone, but not forgotten – A tribute to artists who have recently passed”.

While I certainly wouldn’t say each of these stars are angels. I do know angels conjure visions of beautiful melodious voices or strumming harps and this is the way I choose to think of the music talent that has crossed over.

New beginnings always brings new endings, January we lost these old artists.
Fred Milano (72) founder of The Belmonts.

Etta James (73)

In February these few slipped through our fingers.

Don Cornelius (75) Creator, producer, and host of Soul Train.

Whitney Houston (48), mega sensation and vocal powerhouse’s light extinguished all too soon.

The Monkees, 60s cutie-pie, Davy Jones (66).

In March, the wind carried musical stars to the next life.

The Doobie Brothers’ drummer, Michael Hossack (65).

Songwriter, Robert Sherman (86) Some of his songs you are familiar with: Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Slipper and the Rose, the theme song of “It’s a Small World (After All) and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The Trammps, lead singer, Jimmy Ellis (74).

With April showers brought our own tears, as we said goodbye to. Dick Clark (82) TV & Radio Personality, but most well-known as host of American Band Stand and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

These flowering superstars wilted in May.

Donna Summer (63), known as the Queen of Disco danced across the milkyway.

The Bee Gees, singer Robin Gibb (62).

As summer approached, we learned in June of these deaths.

Fleetwood Mac, former guitarist, Bob Welch (66) cheated life and those who loved him by taking his. This was a popular hit in the 70s.

Richard Adler, a New York well-known Broadway composer passed away at the age of 90.

Although each and everyone of these beautiful candles’ lights shall be missed, we have their equally beautiful music to remind us of them now and forever. May you RIP!
