Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Thanks for joining Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays, my friends!  Tomorrow is National Boss/Employee Exchange Day.  What’s this you’re wondering, right?  Basically, it gives you and your boss an opportunity to do the other person’s job for the day.  The role playing probably sheds new perspective on the difficulties each person faces.  The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.  I thought it would be interesting if not challenging to put together a playlist of songs lyrics/titles that refers to filling another’s person’s shoes in life, the workplace, …  Be dead-on or loose as you need to come up with some tunes for the 4M dance party.   Whatever you do, just have fun!

Being a SAHW, I don’t have a boss because let’s face it the wife is the boss!  😀   I sure do appreciate all that DH has done over the years for his family and continues to do.  What a dad does for his kids is often underappreciated until the kids have kids of their own.  Wives sometimes don’t get what their husbands deal with to keep it together.  The turning point for me came when DH worked out of state for several months.  It sure put things into perspective fast.    Today, I’m dedicating this post to my Hard Workin’ Man with this 10-song playlist.

Hard Workin’ Man playlist:  1. Walking In My Shoes ~Depeche Mode  2. Hard Workin’ Man ~Brooks & Dunn  3. Blue Collar Man ~Styx   4. Working Man’s Ph.D. ~Aaron Tippin  5. Workin’ Man Blues ~Merle Haggard  6. Working Man ~Rush  7. Workin’ For A Livin’ ~Huey Lewis and the News  8. Workin’ Day and Night ~Michael Jackson  9. Workin’ Man ~Nitty Gritty Dirt Band  10. God Bless Saturday ~Kid Rock

My song set mostly includes song titles with “workin’ man”.  The first track, although it’s referring to someone’s spiritual struggles, the lyrics walking in my shoes is a phrase we’ve all used and none of us know just how hard it is until we try to fill the shoes of another.  I certainly know DH’s job as the bread winner and head of the house is a tough one.  One thing I always looked forward to over the years is the weekend to spend with him and my last tune selected seemed the perfect choice for wrapping up my playlist.

This month’s honorary co-hostess is little ole ME

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

That’s a wrap for now. For my fellow music enthusiasts, I hope you’ll join me for my second edition of Top Ten Tuesdays. Stay safe, be well, and have a boogietastic week, my friends!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Here we are, CK, finally…at the last moment…phew…Your songs are all fantastic, Depeche Mode is definitely our favourite. Grandpaw sings that song of a Hard Working man every day…MOL🙄 Granny says that it’s true about the boss. Her doggie was just an underdog from her kitties…MOL…Well, someone has to be boss, right😸 Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend and hope to be here again soon🐾😽💞

Great list to showcase the working man/woman. I love Styx but I skipped over RUSH(I can’t stand that singer). The Michael Jackson is an early one just before he became mega famous and his face looked normal. I love the Huey Lewis song and danced many times. I do welcome Saturday, that’s for sure. Your man does work hard and what a nice way to show that appreciation.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Birgit,

I’m glad you over all enjoyed the playlist and yes DH does work hard. I don’t know how he’s done what he has over the years. If it were me, I’d be complaining every step of every day til something changed. lol I can’t sing his praises loud enough. He rocks on so many levels!

      Ellen,

Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” is a good song choice and one others used this week which I’m glad they did because it’s a great song. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my dear!

      Kathe,

Dogs can be really tolerate of cats. DH tells me on occasion about the dog he had as a boy and how he let the kittens sleep on top of him. He would even stay still if he woke before them until they woke up. Isn’t that sweet?

  • DrillerAA

Dogs let cats be in charge because it’s just not worth the hassle to live with an angry feline.
Great play list. Yes, one should at least consider the shoes that others are walking in. I managed a department of 93 staff members and many of them brought their problems from home and I am sure they took their work problems home with them. Managing staff is not a one size fits all process. Everyone one is different and they react differently in every situation. I liked the song by Styx and the country tunes are classics. Thanks for sharing with the crew today and have a blessed week.

    • Cathy Kennedy

You’re probably right about why dogs let cats be in charge.lol WOW, you managed a number of folks! When I worked, I supervised five or six as well coordinated things for most everyone else because I was over data processing so it got hairy sometimes. You’re right people do bring problems from home to work and vis-versa. And, yes managing staff isn’t a one-style fits all job. You have to cater to each person’s personality to the most out of each person. The thing that bothered me the most is the relentless gossip. I always told my staff, if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it. Work is where work is supposed to be done, not talking about a co-worker. I’m so glad I don’t work outside the home and I have no desire to ever return. It has to be a thousand times worse nowadays. Thanks for the return visit, my friend.

    • Cathy Kennedy

Well, you know how cats are…they are always trying to conquer the world and thinking their boss is the first step. It seems to be working because everyone is in agreement that they are in charge. lol Thanks for visiting, furriend!

  • XmasDolly aka Marie

Girlfriend, you started our rockin’ party early, but it sure put me in the mood to do mine, and a few other things. Woo Hoo! Brooks & Dunn ROCKS! hUGS TO YA GIRLFRIEND! Woo Hoo! • Cathy Kennedy

      Hey Marie,

I’m so glad you came by to boogie with me and I’m equally excited that you’re finally back doing what you love. You jumped hurdles and bumps in the night to get your blog working for you. I’m glad your old blogspot site works for you the best. It’s great being able to dance with you again. Thanks for joining me on the floor, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

  • Alana Mautone

I’ve been on both sides of the employee/supervisor relationship and nothing opens your eyes as much as becoming a supervisor (which I was for over 10 years before I stepped back down to my old job.) It’s an eye opener for sure, walking in another’s shoes. I had a lot of problems with the prompt so I approached it slightly differently. Hope you like it tomorrow. I’ll have to return for most of the playlist but I’m really loving the Depeche Mode song.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Alana,

I made the theme description a little too difficult but after visiting folks I see that everyone did a fine job coming up with song picks. I should’ve just simplified it by saying work related songs. lol As that’s what we all did in the end, including me. 😀 Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my dear!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Brian,

I can’t see the kitty chasing the dog. Well, there was this cat in my childhood neighborhood who might have done such a thing. I remember one day all the dogs were chasing old Charlie when suddenly Charlie stopped, turned around and smacked one of the dogs square on the nose sending him yelping. That was the funnies thing ever! I guess old charlie got tired of those silly dogs making him work so hard. 😀

  • Sandee

Awww on the kitty (boss) and big red. Cats are always in charge and the dogs know it.

Love your playlist and yes hubbies are the best. They do so much and are often unappreciated. Not our husbands though.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandee,

I certainly try as often as I can to let DH know how much I appreciate him. It’s so easy to take someone for granted and I NEVER want to get into that mindset.

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Pawww-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend.

Right off the bat I needed to smile when I clicked to enlarge the meme and saw the awww-some image of a gentle giant (the dog) and the frisky critter (his playmate the cat). How true it is. Sometimes the smallest animals or people are the ones who decide they’re gonna be the boss.

I enjoyed your play list dedicated to your hubby DH and other hard working people. I certainly remember the English synth-pop and new wave band Depeche Mode, but I never heard this particular song of theirs and never saw the video. It carries a powerful and important message – take a walk in my shoes. Sometimes, that walk is more of a limp, enabling you to gain a fresh perspective and a better understanding of where I’m coming from. We all need to do that. “Hard Workin’ Man” is a rip-snorting song by Brooks & Dunn and a new country classic. “Blue Collar Man” by Styx is also new to me and another great song for the theme you picked. “Working Man’s Ph.D.” is another on-target country song that gives city slickers like Shady a chance to glimpse and perhaps appreciate a little more the hard life endured by the blue collar working class. The working man songs by Merle and Rush are also worthy anthems in this category. I needed to listen all the way to #7 and #8 to find two songs that I am familiar with, namely “Workin’ For a Living” and “Working Day And Night.” The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band hits the nail on the head with their song about the plight of the working man and “only one day to ease my pain.”

I’m sure DH will appreciate your kind words about his vital role working outside your home. The only loosely related song that comes to my mind to contribute to the discussion is “Walk A Mile In My Shoes,” written and recorded by Joe South, a single that approached the top 10 in 1970.

Thanks for the Sunday smiles, mewsic and food for thought, dear friend Cathy. Have a wonderful week ahead!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

I think this kind of national day should extend to all people. We all need a chance to see what the other person is up against on a daily basis to put things in proper perspective. It’s so easy to nag and complain about how unfair the boss/spouse is and how you’d do a better job when properly your thoughts couldn’t be any further from the truth. We just don’t know how we’d perform under the stresses and work load of another. I’m delighted you enjoyed my playlist. It’s pleasure to have you drop by for a visit early this morning. I will listen to the song you mentioned by Joe South. I’m not sure if I came across that one in my search. Thanks again for your visit and lovely words, my friend. Have a boogietatic week!
