Rocktober Music Fest,  Wild Wednesdays

Ghost #IndigoGirls #RocktoberMusicFest

You might have noticed I’m participating in a daily music challenge this month and I found inspiration from the song choices I’ve used this week to create a piece of photo-art.

I converted my image to B&W, darken the exposure, added a borrowed foggy background and used a freebie resource to brush ghosts on the scene. How many ghost do you see?

Years ago, we visited Knoxville National Cemetery during the day. It’s full of old headstones and an occasional small mausoleum. I’ve wanted to go back when the conditions were less bright but haven’t made it there yet. Thankfully I can create a bit of an eerie mood using Pixelmator Pro.

Please read: Aces are wild birthing the idea of my new mid-week hop WILD WEDNESDAYS (#WildWednesdays) and all personal bloggers are invited to promote yourself. Share your photos, artwork, music, musings, randomness, or more because we want to connect with you. Warning… please NO CRUDE CONTENT and spammers will be DELETED without prejudice. Thank you!

Last week I began playing Joyce’s Wednesday Hodgepodge after many years.  I’ve wanted to incorporate more Q&A memes into my daily content for awhile and finally did something about it.

1. What’s one part of your everyday routine you’d be better off without?  Sometimes I think my alarm clock. We get very early. On the nights I don’t sleep well then I really hate the clock sounding to get up. Ugh! Other than that I can’t think of a thing.

2. October 5th is/was National Do Something Nice Day. So what did you/will you do?   I didn’t know this. I can’t say I went out of my way to do something nice for anyone, except I took care of a few things DH asked me to do which I did. I guess that was a nice thing to do for him. I could’ve said , “No you do it.” That would not have been nice at all.

3. What question do you hate to answer? Hate is a strong word. I’m not sure that I hate certain questions but probably super strange or intimate questions I’m not sure how to answer.

4. Do we have control over technology or does it have control over us. In that same vein, have you watched The Social Dilemma (available on Netflix) and if so what did you think?  I have not watched this program.  I highly doubt that I will.  I don’t need anyone telling me there are dangers linked to social media. This is obvious. Forget the part it can be addictive. What really bothers me is how it make makes people less social and in serious need of an attitude adjustment. People are so rude to one another online. It’s really sad, too.

5. What are three small things that make your day better?  In no particular order coffee, DH, and mewsic. 🙂

6. Insert your own random thought here.  We’re watching the new season of DWTS.  I hated that ABC executives fired Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews! I’m sorry Tyra Banks simply is not a good choice.  She’s lacks personality and humor to fill Tom’s shoes.  Plus, I find it annoying when she struts out on stage as if she’s a Victoria Secret model. *roll eyes* I was a bit worried that Len isn’t hosting this season but at least he didn’t get canned like Tom and Erin.  The pandemic kept him across the pond.  He’s my favorite judge. Derek Hough does a good job but isn’t a replacement for Len in my opinion. I will say this for DWTS that this is the worse crop of stars.  I’m not very excited about who they picked. Maybe it’s because of the pandemic and they were shorted.

Thanks for joining in for the fun. Tomorrow I’ll have a new pencil drawing to share for Thursday Art Date with Rain.  That’s it’s for now, I’ll end things with another song for this month’s music challenge. Have a wonderful day! X💋X💋, Cathy

Well, that was a very pretty song and as far as your questions honey you did a great job for both of us!!!! I will say one thing that is on my last day of work at the law firm they gave me a little party (there wasn’t many of us there… my boss, his wife and his daughter and my cousin from the next door law law firm, and they all chipped in and bought me a brand new alarm clock! HA HA! Nope, I did not think that was funny… but when I got home I took my old alarm clock and I smashed it like no other I bet. BAM BAM BOY THAT FELT GOOD!!! HAHAHAHAHA Yep, I threw away my alarm clock and hid my new one and never shall I use one again! WOO HOO! THAT FELT GOOD! HAVE A GREAT WEEK SISTA! You take care now!

      Marie,

We’ll have to wait for retirement to retire our alarm clock I guess. lol That’s something nice to look forward to. I can’t blame you for whacking your older alarm clock just for the fun of it. Thanks for dropping in for a visit, dearie!

      Mimi,

Don’t worry about catching up or if WP gets fickle. I often find your comments setting in my Spam folder which I periodically watch for since I know this happens on occasion. Have a good day, dearie. I’m ready anytime you have the time to visit. 😉

All I can say is, I don’t know what I was expecting with Indigo girls, but that was better!

I can’t recall the last time I used my alarm clock other than frequently checking the time. We don’t really have to wake up at any specific time and if I do need to get up I can easily get up on my own. I wish I could sleep later sometimes just to get a full 8 hours of sleep, but I usually have to settle for 5 hours.

We severed our relationship with Netflix over a year ago and don’t much miss it. As long as we have TCM I get my fixes for movies even if they are old ones. I like the old movies better than a lot of new ones anyway.

      Lee,

During the week, we set the alarm clock. On the weekends we do not unless we have something planned. DH has trouble staying asleep. He’s lucky if he gets 5 hours each night. He really needs 8+. I generally get more sleep than him but still am shorted a little. I function best with 8 solid hours of Zs. We haven’t watched much of Netflix in recent months but we’re still subscribing to the service. Lately, we’re watching shows on Hulu. I like the flexibility of various streaming services. Old movies are good but I find I have to be in the mood for them. There really isn’t much in the way of new entertainment out there. Often we watch TV series that we’ve always meant to catch but didn’t. Thanks for dropping by for a visit, my friend. I’ll see you soon!

Your Social Media comment at Hodge Podge sounds like me. All these pop ups everywhere as if we are too dumb to know what to do to protect yourself from any illness. ugh! A blogger once said social media was cutting and cruel. YIKEES! she hit that nail on the head!
The scary images are very cool. I learned to drive in our local cemetery. I love walking through them. But I can parallel park like a pro! Learned in my dad’s big ol Chevy truck.
I prefer blogging to all other on line accounts. Too much hate out there.
Glad I stopped by. I hope your week is blessed and beautiful, like you. HUGS and LOVE

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Anne,

I try to stay out of the drama on Facebook. I usually pop over each morning to make sure there’s nothing important going on. My niece is good to report things going on with my folks. That’s how I learned that my daddy fell off a ladder breaking multiple ribs which sent him to the hospital. People are cruel. It’s sad to see adults acting like school kids with their name calling, fowl language, and bullying practices. I decided recently if I someone shows in my feed who isn’t on the same page as me, then I ask myself how important is it to have this person in my friends’ circle. Honestly I don’t know how I came to pick some of these people up in the first place. It might have been from my early days on Facebook playing games or it could be from blogging but unless I have special connection with a FB friend then chances are my list is going to get smaller in the coming months. Like you, I prefer the blogging platform to other social media connections. Here I am generally in the company of similar minded individuals.

I learned how to parallel park in Driver’s Ed. I shutter to think about young people who find a false sense of security relying on a car’s computer to do this driving basic for them. What happens when the computer gets it wrong or they are forced to do it themselves? That’s really scary! Thanks for visiting, my dear! Heading your way next. 🙂

Very cool work with the photo. It looks so eerie! I’m so glad that you are joining me in my little music fest again this year.

      Mary,

I’m glad I’m playing along with you this month. It’s keeping me busy doing multiple things each day but that’s okay. It’s rather fun if I don’t allow myself to feel overwhelmed. 😉 Thanks for the return visit, my dear. Rock on!

    • Cathy Kennedy

I should’ve written down how many I added but I didn’t but I know you’re in the ballpark. I think I counted 10 yesterday but I imagined that I might have put in 12. I should have added 13 since that seems spookier. 🙂

  • Nicole/DVArtist

You know I love spooky. Great photo. When we lived in N.ID. it was a very small town of 800. At the bottom of our hill was an old cemetery of towns people from the 1800s. It was such an interesting place.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Nicole,

Old cemeteries are interesting. I like reading the headstones. I was in my early 20s when I realized people from long ago didn’t have a long life expectancy. I remember thinking anyone in their 20s was old. lol That’s not old at all!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Steve,

We all like a little spookiness. My blogger buds talked about why we like it and it’s actually good for ya. You’ll find that in this post at the bottom if you’re curious to know.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Brian,

I’m not sure how I really feel about ghosts. Sometimes I think it would be interesting to have such an encounter as long as it’s not spooky. Gasper is about my speed for first meetings of spirits. 🙂 You’re right social media isn’t social at all. It’s like, lets see who I can tick off today and get away with it.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Patrick,

I enjoy doing spooky photo-creations this time of year. It’s a fun way for me to enjoy the season. That’s funny because I don’t consider myself necessarily a fan of Halloween but I like the spookiness. 🙂 Thanks for taking time to read my responses to the questions. 😉 I’m heading over to see you in just a sec!

  • Joyce

I haven’t watched any of DWTS this season. Everything is different this year including our TV shows : ) Hope you’re enjoying some pretty fall weather!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Joyce,

We watched The Voice and AI. It was a little hard getting into these shows more than usual. DWTS at least are doing their dance routines on stage without an audience. I’m just not happy about ABC firing Tom and Erin. I won’t even begin to say why I think they did it because I’m betcha it has to do with political correctness somehow. Nuff said about that, right? 😀 Thanks for joining me today, my friend.

  • Lisa

I agree that people seem to think they can say anything they want on social media. It doesn’t seem to matter to them that they may be hurting others with their words.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Lisa,

People are fearless behind a computer screen or in numbers. It’s like being back in school only except when I went to school the problem wasn’t nearly as bad. People were more considerate and respectful. Today, they do not care! So very, very sad!!

  • Sandee

I love the edit on that photograph. Spooky. You’re so talented.

Love your Q&A too. I learn so much about folks that do this.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  • 15andmeowing

Cool effect. I can’t count the ghosts, I think 3, but it is tough to tell the difference between ghost and fog. Thanks for hosting. Have a great day! XO

  • DrillerAA

Outstanding image and processing. I think I see at least 9 spooky images here. Maybe I’ll see more after my cataract surgery next week. Have a blessed day.

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Wild & Almost Wordless Wednesday Hodgepodge & Rocktoberfest, dear friend!

That spooky black & white art composition made from a picture taken at the Knoxville National Cemetery is simply marvelous, Cathy! As a lover of horror it really grabs me. Counting the white forms and shapes in the foreground and background including the suspended faces, I spotted at least a dozen ghosts. It’s a sensational piece of Halloween photo-art!

I appreciated reading your answers to the Wednesday Hodgepodge prompts. I agree that hate is a word we can do without in our vocabulary. The only thing worth hating is hate itself. Too many people go out of their way to rip others online and in person. We can have a better world if we try to understand, show some respect and offer support. Three things that make my day better are my morning coffee (and lots of it), listening to mewsic and nurturing friendships.

I thoroughly enjoyed the introduction to Indigo Girls, an Atlanta-based folk-rock duo. Thank you for the mewsic, food for thought and that spooktacular scene you created depicting ghosts roaming the cemetery. I’ll see you tamale for Thursday Art Date with Rain, dear friend Cathy!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Tom,

I forgot how many ghost figures/faces I added to my image now but you’re in the ball park. 🙂 Hate is pure evil. We may never understand another person or even agree with them but that’s okay. We don’t have to always be on the same page, just able to respect the other person knowing when to shut up and walk away from the conversation/conflict. People stay hyped up on emotions almost reveling in the drama. Personally that’s just too taxing on my health and I’d rather stay far, far from it all. You can’t change someone’s mind/heart by arguing with them. Thanks for joining me today, dear friend. I will look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Have a good one!
