Day 8: S.a.D The Holly and the Ivy

Christmas greetings!  For the month of December, I plan to share a Christmas song each day with the hope of adding a little extra cheer to your holiday.  Part of my challenge in this series is to bring to you a new-to-me song or artist discoveries.  There’s no telling what song pick I’ll go with but you’ll find artists from all genres celebrating in song this almost magical, holy season.

I found Natalie Cole listed in an online source which credits her covering the British folk Christmas carol (earliest lyrics 1823), The Holly and the Ivy.

Don’t even worry with leaving a comment. This is for your enjoyment.  There’s no worries or fuss or strings attached. Simply a moment for you to unwind and refresh your mind and body. 😉

I’ll be here with bells on tomorrow morning with another Christmas song waiting to start your day and please don’t let the hustle of the holiday weigh you down.  The holiday festivities are beautiful and fun but the true reason warms the heart better than these earthly things. Take time to bask in God’s great love.   It’s the most wonderful time of the year! X💋X💋, Cathy

This house is on the west side of town and decorates every Christmas season for the last couple of decades that I can remember. You can see it from the Interstate when you’re traveling I-40 East just before the Bridgewater Road exit 379.

I always loved this song but never heard it done by the wonderful Natalie Cole. She gives it justice. It was such a shame when she passed away.

I always thought Holly and Ivy would be great names for twin girls born around Christmas.

It’s a wonderful song, I’m just not fond of her singing it.

You are so right… it is a wonderful time of the year… no it’s the best time of year. I never heard this song before to say the least. Natalie Cole isn’t as good as her father, but she is good. She bears a good resemblance to her dad too, don’t cha think? I do. Anyway, don’t forget me and email me a copy of our linky for Monday. I don’t know what happen last week, but I just didn’t get it. Total bummer! Have a great rest of your week and weekend my dearest friend. Hugs and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you and yours! HUGS

    Hi, Cathy!

You know i always arrive here at CAAC between 6 and 7 am, dear friend. Forgive me for being so late today. I have a good excuse. I am more than seven hours late getting my day started because we are just coming off a cable and internet outage that lasted nearly a full day. Landscapers were working on our property yesterday and sliced the cable in two different spots. We just now got service restored. Thank you for understanding.

Natalie Cole’s singing was divine, and I very much enjoyed this live performance clip. I never heard the British folk Christmas carol “The Holly And The Ivy.” It’s a lovely song and a great selection for your S. a. D. series.

The Christmas lights have been glowing in my neighborhood for a couple of weeks now, but they can’t compare to that spectacular display at a house in your neck of the woods in East Tennessee. Thanks for sharing that picture!

Enjoy the rest of your day, dear friend Cathy. I’ll be back tamale, hopefully at the usual time.

Oh the decorations at that home. Beautiful. Lots of work, but so worth it.
