Christmas Music Marathon

Day 2: S.a.D Cool Yule

Christmas greetings!  For the month of December, I plan to share a Christmas song each day with the hope of adding a little extra cheer to your holiday.  Part of my challenge in this series is to bring to you a new-to-me song or artist discoveries.  There’s no telling what song pick I’ll go with but you’ll find artists from all genres celebrating in song this almost magical, holy season.

Bette Midler’s energetic little jib just you feel a live.  It has nothing to do with the true meaning of Christmas but there’s nothing wrong with tapping your toe.  The red wig makes me think of Whosville from Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Who Stole Christmas story.

All things have a place even modern Christmas pop songs. These tunes are good to put an extra spring in your step and if you enjoyed Bette’s little ditty then you may want to indulge yourself with her entire Cool Yule playlist on YouTube.

Don’t even worry with leaving a comment. This is for your enjoyment.  There’s no worries or fuss or strings attached. Simply a moment for you to unwind and refresh your mind or body. 😉

I should’ve said something before now but if you love all things Christmas then I encourage you to visit Driller’s Place each day this month for his Christmas Music Marathon.  I’ll be here with bells on tomorrow morning with another Christmas song waiting to start your day and please don’t let the hustle of the holiday weigh you down.  The holiday festivities are beautiful and fun but the true reason warms the heart better than these earthly things. Take time to bask in God’s great love.   It’s the most wonderful time of the year! X💋X💋, Cathy

I couldn’t play it here but I went to YouTube and listened to it. I’ve heard this song before but love Bette’s rendition of it. She know how to put her own style into a big band way from the 40s. I wish I could dance to it like the DWTS.

    Hi, Cathy!

    Happy Song-A-Day Thursday, dear friend!

I enjoyed red-haired Bette Midler’s zesty performance of “Cool Yule,” a pop/secular song of the season that is new to my ears. It was interesting to learn that the song was written by Steve Allen in 1953, introduced by Louis Armstrong, also covered by the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and that it has been featured in the soundtracks of movies and TV shows. “Cool Yule” reminds me of the type of flashy, brassy, peppy, energetic, festive number often featured in TV series created by David E. Kelley, namely The Practice, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal and Harry’s Law. Songs like this one were typically performed as a rave-up involving most of the main characters near or at the end of holiday episodes. I could also picture Bobby Darin singing this song accompanied by a swinging orchestra.

Thanks for posting this toe-tapping number to start my day, dear friend Cathy!
