Monday's Music Moves Me

Autograph

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Good morning, y’all!  I hope your weekend was a nice one.  It’s time to party with the Monday’s Music Moves Me crew.  This week’s music line up in your choice.  In March, my lovely co-hostess, Alana reintroduced me to the American band, Autograph, with their most recognizable hit, Turn Up the Radio and I decided why not bring to the dance floor a sample of their music I found in The Anthology YT playlist.  Hit play and unplug to the sound of the 80s!

This month’s honorary co-host is John from The Sound of One Hand Typing

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

I’m really super busy trying to get a handle on many aspects in and outside of Blogosphere.  I can’t wait for things to even out in my brain.  Incidentally, did you vote in my mid-month BoTB? If not, take a moment to cast your vote for your favorite artist.  You’ll find the current showdown pinned at the top of my “Home” page.  If all goes well, I’ll be back for Wild Wednesdays.  Y’all have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

The MLK quote – so true! It took me parts of two days, but I went through a lot of the soundtrack. I like this type of 80’s music so I’m a bit surprised that the only song I knew was Turn Up the Radio. (Spouse told me he always thought Def Leppard did that song, lol). “Angel in Black” was a good one and All Night Long was even better; a little surprised that All Night Long didn’t become a hit, too. Enjoyed Tom’s additional notes and saddened by what Mary told us. By the way, I’m having trouble finding the blog that Xmas Dolly posted her Monday music post on. I’m sure I’ll find it eventually but I don’t want her to be mad at me. P.S. good toe tapping to Stone Sour isn’t a cure for sciatica; it is only temporary pain relief. I feel for anyone with that condition – that condition can be a real pain in the you-know-where.

      Alana,

Thanks for taking time to listen to the entire Autograph playlist. I thought it was nice to revisit or I should say familiarize myself with this old band. I get a lot of interesting and sometimes sad tidbits about the artists or songs. It does wonders for my musical education. As for Marie’s post I think she accidentally wrote over top it when she composed her Wordless Wednesday post. She’s trying to get the knack of it, though. I’m beginning to think part of my lower back pain might be related to the sciatica. Last Friday, I was out doing some yard work when wham! The pain runs along the hip and down the outside of my right leg. I get it worked out some but I can’t get it to ease up completely. I reckon I need to rest my body or move it more one to fix it. I don’t know but I have had this to happen before and it went away. Is this the case for you? I do know exactly what you mean about it literally being a real pain you-know-where.

      Binky,

I’m so happy you stopped by to dance with me. It’s such great fun when you join the party. Summer is getting an early jump here. It’s been in the 80s this week. Whew, that’s too warm for me! Staying indoors helps that problem, though. 😉 Have a good evening, my furriend!

  • XmasDolly

Oh yeah, nice tune. It really rocks for sure. Gonna have to check out some more of those people. Woo Hoo! Thought I’d stop back again wow, I’m so very sorry Cat! We sure lost a lot of people. I’m glad I’m back so we can pull them back hopefully. I’ll have to advertise a bit like I use too! You’ve done a great job holdin’ down the fort though for sure. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. How did you like my blog. I still haven’t decided on what I want to do as far as a blog goes though. We’ll see. Love you girl. Time to move on before I fall asleep hahahahaha HUGS & SMOOCHES TO YOU!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Mary,

I think things in Blogosphere will slow down with summer coming on, so I wouldn’t worry too much about pulling people back to the dance floor just yet. I think they’ll get back to boogieing as soon as things settle down again in September. I for one am ready for a little R&R!

Autograph is a California based group, but their keyboardist, Steven Isham, grew up about 25 miles from where I live. Unfortunately, he had liver cancer and passed in 2008. He’s buried in the same cemetery as my sister in Pocatello, Idaho. Thanks for the blast from the past and the walk down memory lane.

Love the kitty and our one cat just loves to grab our pen or pencil when we are writing and start to bite it. She is 15 but still a kitten…demanding one but a kitten. The big hair groups were big in the 80s( and the 70s) but they are not my cup of tea. I listened to it though and would rather listen to that than RAP music.

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Birgit,

I wasn’t really a fan of big hair bands back in the day but they sure were a talented lot of musicians especially compare to what’s out there today. Thanks for boogieing with me!

  • Kathe W.

      Marie,

I’m glad to see you visiting and yes, I dropped by your blog. Way to go, girl! It takes time to figure these things out but the best way to do that is just dive to learn the workings of it. It’ll stick with you better that way. Thanks for boogieing with me!

          Marie,

Thanks for dropping by today. I added your Wordless Wednesday post to my WildWednesdays linky party. I left a message twice with two different browsers. Either there’s a problem or I’m in your spam folder. Can you check? Anywho, I’m glad to see you’re stretching your blogging wings. Oh yeah, congrats on the new great grandbaby! 🙂 Have a good evening, darlin’!

Awww on that cute kitty helping mom. Adorable.

Love the quote. MLK was a very wise man.

Love the video. I remember that song. I still like it.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Sandee,

Yes, MLK was a wise man. Folks need to take to heart wise words from those no longer here as well as those still living. We’d be in such a better place in our society if only wise words were paid attention to. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend!

  • Thomas Anderson

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy awww-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

Awww! That little kitten wants mommy’s attention. Another way of looking at that image is it’s your kitty helping you with one of your A to Z sketches. Either interpretation works for me.

“Turn Up The Radio” by Autograph is a great eye-opener to start the week. Back in the 80s, I had that song on a various artists cassette of 80s hair metal hits. I got into the habit of playing the song LOUD in my car every day on the way home from work. The lyrics spoke to me. For every minute of work, you need a minute of play, and things really do go better with ROCK! (borrowing from the ad slogan for Coke). “Turn Up The Radio” is Autograph’s best known song and it’s the only one I knew coming into your post. I enjoyed the other songs in the set, especially the ones that drifted away from pop metal and closer to the rough and rowdy sound of Mötley Crüe, one of the bands Autograph toured with, another being Heart. I particularly like “Deep End,” “Cloud 10,” “Angel In Black,” “All Night Long,” “One-Way Dead-End Street” and “Sanctuary.” Song #30, the re-recorded version of “Turn Up The Radio,” sounds very much like the original. It’s another great classic 80s rock recording.

I read that Autograph songs were used in the soundtracks of two movies I watched along the way. “Take No Prisoners,” “Deep End” and “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend Isn’t Me” are in the OST of the 1985 film Secret Admirer starring C. Thomas Howell, the young actor who had a memorable and major role in the 1993 epic war movie Gettysburg. Autograph’s “You Can’t Hide From the Beast Inside” is found in the 1985 horror flick Fright Night. I have that soundtrack CD.

I love that ML King quote and thank you for posting it. The week is off to a rockin’ start thanks to you, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

You’re the early bird again as usual. Like always, you give me insight on my featured artists and their music. I rarely know the things you share so I get educated quite well. Thanks for taking time to boogie with me, my friend. Have a fabulous week!
