Dwayne Reed is a real school teacher who encourages his students through mewsic putting the focus on dreams, attitude, and education.  “The Morning Song” is an infectious, cheery ditty to motivate minds of all ages.

The kids at Citizen Academy School put a twist on Bruno Mars’ “Grenada” tune pledging their time to good studies to do excellent in their academic lives. Here’s Teon and his classmates singing “Education Song”.

Kids getting into scuffles is old as time. Really, it is. The first fall out happened between two brothers (Caine and Abel) that didn’t go down too well. Usually things don’t get that bad but bullying on the playground is an ugly truth. If respect is not taught at home for kids to see in their parents or other adults, then bullying will continue. Treat others as you want to be treated = Respect!

This is Curious as a Cathy signing off with a very comprehensive list of songs about school for your enjoyment.

Wasn’t that fun?  Wikipedia is an excellent source for more related titles which I plan to give more attention and please feel free to add your favorite selections to my growing YouTube playlist!😘

What hit songs do you remember from your elementary, junior high, and high school days?

I’ll see you next week, on the dance floor and I hope you’ll join me tomorrow for a bit of random fun which always includes mewsic with Cathy Chats!

Thank you for including me in your Monday, kittens & dawgs! I invite you to hit the dance floor with the M4 (borrowed from John at The Sound of One Hand Typing) gang XmasDolly, Stacy, Colette , and little ole me! This week’s theme is Male Names Song Titles/Lyrics.

I had some obvious first song picks with this week’s theme which I wanted to use but pretty certain they’ll get a lot of play time from others, so I began thinking of a theme within the theme coming up with songs inspired by or written about male celebrities.

I’m wind things down in another direction with my theme within a theme by sharing a playlist of songs written about male celebrities.

I went with the artists’ songs I most enjoyed that I found in this article and according to the artists wrote with these entertainers in mind.

  1. No Doubt, “Don’t Speak” (Tony Kanal)
  2. Selena Gomez, “The Heart Wants What It Wants” (Justin Bieber)
  3. Taylor Swift, “Style” (Harry Styles)
  4. Sheryl Crow, “My Favorite Mistake” (Eric Clapton)
  5. Taylor Swift, “All Too Well” (Jake Gyllenhaal)
  6. Britney Spears, “Everytime” (Justin Timberlake)
  7. Taylor Swift, “Last Kiss” (Joe Jonas)
  8. Madonna, “Miles Away” (Guy Ritchie)
  9. Carly Simon, “You’re So Vain” Devid Geffen UPDATE: Per Wikipedia song is NOT about Geffen. Part of the song IS about Warren Beatty and at least two other unknown men.

Can you share a song(s) not already named with today’s theme? Leave your “male name song titles/lyrics picks in comments! Who knows maybe I’ll do a future post with your suggestions. 😉

Most of the summer…well pretty much of all of summer I’ve been unofficially off the blogging radar but it’s official now. I’m away from Blogosphere until after Labor Day but… I am hitting the dance floor each week. I can’t let my co-hosts and you down to get your week hoping now, can I? I’ll see ya next week for “your choice” song picks with Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me!

This week’s mewsic theme is “Your Choice” and I invite you to hit the dance floor with the 4M gals – XmasDolly, Stacy, Colette , and little ole me. Link-up and enjoy the fun!

Today is DH’s birthday!

To honor the birthday boy on his special day, I created a playlist of 1959 Billboard Top Chart songs from his birth year according to Wikipedia. The top song in July was Lonely Boy by Paul Anka (#11 on playlist).

Now, I want to share mewsic that makes me think of him. Some of the songs have specific memories connected with them and others are important for reasons I now can’t remember.

This playlist is sure to grow as new tunes come to mind but I have a good start and I hope you enjoyed the mewsic. Tonight, the birthday boy is having more triple chocolate cake with vanilla bean butter cream frosting. We did early celebrating over the weekend. I made a cake like this for DD#1 last month but if you missed that post and want to check out the recipe, then you’ll find it here.  Per DH’s request, I left the chocolate chips out of his cake which we actually liked better! What a shocker!!

This is Curious as a Cathy signing off with …

Mewsic to honor my brothers and my sisters #4M

Alrighty, I have some good mews for y’all. Our lovely Dancing Queen, Marie, will return to the dance floor today after being away for a few weeks fighting a battle with pneumonia. WOOT! WOOT! *applauds*

Okay, it’s time to have a little fun. Who says Mondays can’t be fun?  Lace up your blue suede shoes or kick ’em off to rock n’ roll in your socks.  In honor of Marie’s big brother’s birthday she suggested we go with the mewsic theme “Siblings Day“. Let’s get this party going!

I am the oldest of four.  My siblings are left to right: LilBro1, LilSis, and LilBro2.  I figured I would play mewsic from their birth years.

LilBro1 is my first cousin and his mother passed away when he was very young. I’m not speaking ill of the dead and I certainly do not understand the goings-on in my uncle’s head but he placed his children in the care of other family members or the state orphanage. My parents adopted him in the early 70s after LilSis was born. He had a sweet disposition and always willing to help me around the house. The week he was born in May 1965 this Beatle number one single made the Billboard Hot 100 Chart!

In a few days,  LilSis will celebrate 47 years. She was my living babydoll with more than nine years separating us. There wasn’t a song charting the week of her birth, so I went with the week before and according to Wikipedia climbing to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Charts between May 30-June 6 was Ray Stevens’ Everything is Beautiful which describes my LilSis – beautiful!

LilBro2 and I were good buddies when we were small sharing everything together. This past April was his 51st birthday but he left us in 2006 to live in heaven. I’m sure the angels threw him a big bash. The week of his birthday April 14th this song ranked #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts.

Hold on to everything! I need to include the siblings I inherited when I married DH! I always felt like they are my brothers and sister. Family ties don’t need to be through blood but through love and I love each of them dearly. Hopefully, I’ll get the years right.

Photographed in the early 70s about 1973; pictured left to right are BIL2, BIL1, & SIL (married to BIL2)

I don’t know who snapped this shot. I suspect it was DH but I can’t swear to it. This scene is definitely a signature capture of these clowns and DH is just like his big brothers.

BIL1, born mid-November 1949,  this unfamiliar tune was a Billboards Best Sellers in Stores and Number One-Singles from October 1-November 19th.

The next hit is US Cash Box Best Selling Singles #1 Hit from December 30, 1950, through February 3, 1951, placing this song around the time of BIL2 birth. Wouldn’t you know it many years later, he’d find himself living in the very state mentioned in the song title.  Is it a coincidence or fate? 😉

Lastly, this popular song from 1955 (SIL birth year) was Best Sellers in Stores for the first three weeks in January and it’s a classic of the 50s.

Thank you for including the 4M gals in your day. Now, I invite you to hit the dance floor!

What mewsic do you think of when you think of your brother(s) or your sister(s)?

I’ll see you next week same time and place. Keep those tunes groovin’ and those toes movin’. It’s time for me to catch the flip side (translation: I’m heading your way) this is Curious as a Cathy signing off!
