A Place in Time #AmandaAbizaid #music

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Amanda was born in Beirut, Lebanon to an American mother and Mexican/Lebanese father. All before her 10th birthday, she traveled the Middle East and Europe with her family before moving to the United States with her mother, brother, and four sisters. She and her sisters formed a band. That’s where she developed a talent for harmony. Her exposure to music comprises of a Middle Eastern flavor influenced by late 70s American sounds of Alice Cooper, Elton John, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and The Beatles. The singer – songwriter vocals are best known for The 4400 opening theme song.

The song that peaked my curiosity, A Place in Time….

I’m really hooked on this tune so much so that I had to download it from iTunes. Her interesting sound captured my attention and I wanted explore more of her music. I invite you to dance this way for a little ear candy.

The 4400 complete series is on Netflix. We just started watching the show. Are you familiar with the USANetwork sci-fi program?

What appears to be a comet slows, hovers and stops, then bursts forth to reveal 4,400 people who were presumed dead or missing over the past 50 years. They look exactly the same as the moment they disappeared, but some of the returnees now have special powers.

In 2011, Amanda released Be in Love that includes 8 original songs. This morning, I’m sharing with you the first track, Be In Love With Me Again

I listened to all of the songs and narrowed it down two other tracks worth mentioning This Woman Stays & Goodbye For Now and I invite you to listen to.

Moving on, I found this song while surfing YouTube. Oddly, I couldn’t find it on iTunes. It’s possible it’s an oversight on my part, but listen to Dreams in Ashes.

This past April, Someday Girl,Vol 2 (available on iTunes) released. Amanda captures a similar essence to The 4400 theme song, as well a kinda jazzy overtone which I liked a lot. If there is a volume 2 then there has to be a volume 1, but iTunes didn’t have Someday Girl, Vol 1 listed, but I found it on YouTube.¬† So, all is good and so is the album.

Anywho, here is She Runs from Someday Girl, Vol 2!

Thursday Thoughts: Muscles, 10 Things to Smile About, Water, & Nip/Tuck

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Oh. My. Stars! My quads are absolutely killing me! This week, I began a new exercise routine. If you happened to join me on Tuesdays = Random Thoughts then you know what program I started. I am a hard-core believer of the no pain, no gain philosophy. With that, I know I am definitely gaining muscle growth!

Did you know strong quads support the knee-joint and help to prevent injury?

The key element to building muscle is not resistance training alone. You have to fuel your body with the proper amount of protein. My minimum daily requirement says 67-grams. (Figure out your daily protein intake here.)

What I most want to know is, how much protein do I need to build new muscle?¬†According to¬†stronglifts.com, someone who trains hard should consume 1-gram of protein for every pound you weigh. This means I would need 107 grams. That is if I was some a body builder, which I am not. That being said, it seems I need to ingest 67-107 grams of protein to begin to ramp up my muscle building potential. All I can say is, “Holy Moly!”

For the past several months, I have not had the privilege in linking up with Mama Kat’s Pretty Much World Famous Writer’s Workshop. One of the prompts this week, 10 Things to Smile About (inspired by¬†Mama’s Losin’ It prompt Things I Can’t Say) motivated me to join in on the fun….

10 Things to Smile About

… my one true joy, my DH.

…as I find that my physical strength returns more and more.

…getting back into my exercise routine again.

…that I have overall better health now than I did 3-months ago.

…that I am nearly done with all doctor appointments this year.

…every time I knock out a little more clutter, giving me that sense of better organization.

….the thought of autumn soon arriving.

…the creamy, delicious taste of Blue Bell Rocky Mountain Road ice cream.

…that Christmas is only 130 some days away.

…for friends like you who make blogging so much fun!

Are you a fan of drinking water? I am. It really helps to keep my body in check. Our bodies are mostly water, as you know (55% for women & 60% for men) is very important to our system. Here is a  little visualization to help you understand what water does for you.

A little trick I learned years ago was this simple rule of thumb to decide how much water one needs to drink each day. Divide your weight by half and that’s the number of ounces you should drink to properly stay hydrated. Personally speaking, I try to aim to drink 8-16 ounces of water every hour. I miss it a lot, but in general, I do get my necessary water intake. However, if you are like me and want to know how to get the best use of my water consumption, then check out¬†9 Best Times to Drink Water.

Have you seen the Showtime series Nip/Tuck? It’s rated MA. Definitely not a program suited for young children.¬†We recently began watching it on Netflix and much to my surprise, we like it! The basic story line revolves around two Miami plastic surgeons – Sean McNamara & Christian Troy who are different on most levels but need each other to make a successful business work.

Visit Miss Jenny and the rest of the Alphabe-Thursday classroom for this week’s letter “M” assigned homework and while you’re hopping around, be sure to play along with Miss Amanda in her latest edition of Thursday Two Questions.

1. How are your muscles, steadily depleting or growing or staying the same?

2. Concerning muscles, what is the one trouble spot you would like to improve?

F is for Finale

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

This week, three of our favorite Reality TV shows had their season’s finales.¬†What will we do?

It all began on Sunday night.  Donald Trump announced the new Celebrity Apprentice in his 2-hour fanfare.

Over the last few months, one celebrity after another got fired from the show and then everyone reunited on stage for the big production between Marlee Matlin and John Rich.  Both celebrities charities were for children.

Marlee played for The Starkey Hearing Foundation and John worked to raise money¬†for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

I liked both celebrities. I would’ve been happy with either one but I felt a slight tug of my heart for John Rich to win.¬† I felt like John was the more talented and creative of the two celebrities.¬† I was not familiar with John Rich until Celebrity Apprentice so it was interesting to get to know him through this season.

As it turned out, John Rich, a country singing boy took victory as the next Celebrity Apprentice Super Star. Congratulations John, you deserve it!¬† Watch¬†John Rich perform his new¬†song, For The Kids ( You can¬†buy MP3 Download @ Amazon for $0.99) with Marlee Matlin signing.¬† It’s so beautiful!

Monday night Dancing with the Stars allowed their three finalist one last shot on the dance floor. Actress, Kristie Alley,¬†¬†and her professional dance partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy,¬† Disney’s star, Chelsea Kane,¬† paired with Latin Style dancer, Mark Ballas, and Pittsburgh Steelers’ finest, Hines Ward, with one of my favorite female dancers,¬†Kym Johnson.

It was perfectly clear in my mind the couple who would take the Mirror Ball Trophy would¬†be either Chelsea & Mark or Hines & Kym.¬† I was certain, Kristie & Maks would take third place.¬† I was totally shocked. Did I say totally shocked? Yes, I was totally shocked when Chelsea and Mark placed third. Oh my goodness! How insane is that? They didn’t’ deserve to be in the bottom.¬† However, thankfully, (phew) Hines and Kym won.¬†Way to go Hines and Kym!

Last night, the finale of American Idol televised.¬† Twenty-four young talents emerged. Now, only two were left standing – Scotty McCreey and Lauren Alaina.¬† Both¬†young talents are equal.¬†Over the weeks of competition, they¬†stepped outside their country singing comfort zone to perform¬†many styles of¬†music with their own signature flair and poise. They are true artists – multi-talented and flawless.¬† Again, two of my favorite contestants – neither one would disappoint¬†me to be named the next American Idol, but deep¬†inside I knew who the winner was and I was absolutely right, Scotty McCreey – you’re an American Idol!

“All good things must come to an end,” as the old saying goes.¬† This season of our favorites was no different and it to had to come to an end with each finale aired.¬† Until the next season’s lineup. Farewell – Celebrity Apprentice, Dancing with the Stars, and America Idol fans everywhere!

Thank-you Miss Jenny, for hosting this super cool, brain-boosting meme, Alphabe-Thursday! Don’t miss the action, join the fun next!

Have a terrific Thursday!
