Winter at Mingus Mill #WW @ImagesByCW

Hello, kittens & dawgs! Here it is the first Wednesday of a new month. I’m thrilled with March’s arrival and am eager for spring to usher in soon. I can’t believe how quickly 2015 is moving. Just think about it, it’s hump-day already! This week is half-way over and as the old saying goes, it’s all down hill the rest of the way.

In recent years, I shared photos of Mingus Mills, but during different seasons. I have not photographed this area in the winter before now. The sky clearly shows the lovely weather and although the temps were mild with the sun beginning to shift farther west the air felt nippy near the water.

Just over my left shoulder there is a peaceful path, but we have not walked it. Perhaps before the return of the busy tourism season we can take a little stroll to see where it goes. It was too cold to do it on this day, but I did get a few more shots of the mill.

#SWF: Smoky Mountain Opry Pigeon Forge, TN

Hello, kittens & dawgs! How’s life treating you? All month, I have shared photos from my archives. The biggest reason is I haven’t been out snapping pictures like normally. I am immensely busy or so it seems and there’s a whole lot of other stuff preoccupying our energy.  I won’t bore you with that, though. Anywho, I’m happy you decided to stop by for a peak at this week’s Skywatch Friday contribution.

The communities of the GSM foothills really know how to liven things up for the Christmas holiday season. It looks great even during the day. On this Saturday, we were blessed with a gorgeous vivid blue sky and the air cool and crisp when I snapped this image last December. I’m never disappointed when we have a fun Christmas outing like this and I really could use another…now! This week has been chilly and gray with the promise of good weather returning on Saturday. Let’s hope for the best and maybe we’ll find time to escape with my camera in tow. How’s the sky over your head? That’s a wrap this time.  Until we meet on the other side of the lens next, have a foto-tastic day!

Dreaming of a white Christmas ~ Knoxville, TN #SWF

Hello, kittens & dawgs! How’s life treating you? Christmas is in the air. I simply can’t get enough of this wonderful season. In fact, I am scouring my photo archives for seasonal and wintry landscapes. I totally love having you stop by to see my Skywatch Friday contribution. Today’s photo was actually taken in February of this year.

This is our biggest snow fall for 2014. Will you have snow for Christmas?  It would be amazing to wake on Christmas morn to find our world covered in white fluff, so all I can say is,  I’m dreaming of a white Christmas!

That’s a wrap at this time. Thank you for making me apart of your day.  Until we meet on the other side of the lens next, have a foto-tastic day!

A night sky with Christmas lights and luminaries #SWF

Good-morning, kittens & dawg! It’s Christmas time and it’s the first weekend in December. And…what does that mean to me, you ask. Probably nothing at all unless you’re familiar with Dillsboro, North Carolina. Unfortunately, we’re experiencing a rainy weekend and we have an unfavorable chance of going to see the luminaries. Last year, we visited and I took lots of photos. Lucky for you coz today’s Skywatch Friday contribution is one such image I captured!

Don’t let the rain discourage you, enjoy Christmas in Dillsboro, North Carolina from the comfort of your home. That’s a shoot! Thanks for stopping by. Until we meet on the other side of the lens next, have a foto-tastic day!

#SWF: November Sky over Becky Cable House

Welcome kittens & dawgs to this week’s Skywatch Friday edition! I apologize,  if you’re tiring of the same local of my photo shoot, but here again is another photo taken from our visit to Cades Cove earlier this month.

DSC_4128a

The old Grist Mill is pictured on the left and the house on the right is known as the Becky Cable House.

This is a wonderful spot to casually stroll and unwind, while the surroundings melt away all your worries. To live near a place of this beauty and charm is truly a blessing. How is your sky looking? What’s the first blessing that pops in your head?

That’s a wrap at this time. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your day.  Until we meet on the other side of the lens next, have a foto-tastic day!

#SWF: Grist Mill at Cades Cove

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! I’m happy that you decided to join me for this week’s edition of Skywatch Friday.  Skywatch Friday is a global network  of photographers sharing images from a skyward perspective and although my photo does not capture much of the heavens, I very much like it all the same.

Grist Mill at Cades Cove in the GSM

I took the above photo while on hiatus a few weeks ago. I love how the large maple frames the photo, don’t you? The sky is slightly visible above the old Grist Mill between the trees. It rained earlier that morning and the clouds hung over our head all day. The Grist Mill is operational, the best of my knowledge but it wasn’t open when we were there. The nearby visitors center sells fresh ground corn meal from the mill. Life in this quaint pioneer community was difficult and one I really wouldn’t want to live, but it’s fun to fantasize about those times all the same. Would you be happy living in a world without the conveniences you’ve come to enjoy?

Thank you for making me apart of your day.  Until we meet on the other side of the lens next, have a foto-tastic day!
