10 Blue Song Titles #4M + #BoTB & #Sparks

Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! Dang, here it is the middle of January!! If this is sign that another year will zip out of sight then I’d like to stop the world from spinning so I can get off. Anywho, it’s fabulous to see you. I will warn you now, this is gonna be a long post so feel free to read through or fast-forward to the area you’re most interested in. Are you ready to groove to some mewsic? Excellent. This week’s Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me theme is “Colors in Song Titles” which I decided to use one of my favorite colors with these 10 Blue Song Titles!

    1. Love is Blue” (cover) by Marty Robbins. This isn’t the first time I shared this song, I did so last July. It’s one of my favorites from the late 60s.
    2. Blue On Blue” by Bobby Vinton hit the charts in 1963. I was too young at the time to know this but Google tells me his song stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 13 weeks peaking at No. 3. It also charted No. 2 on the Billboard Middle-Road Singles Chart. Interestingly, Vinton’s success with this song prompted him to record an entire blue-themed album which produced an even bigger hit, “Blue Velvet” which I almost used today. 🙂
    3. Blue Moon of Kentucky” (cover) by LeAnn Rimes, originally written as a Waltz in 1946 by Bluegrass mewsician, Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys. Many artists recorded this oldie but it was Elvis Presley who turned the classic into a pop tune.
    4. Jackie Blue” by southern rock band The Ozark Mountain Daredevils is an international hit, reaching No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart and stayed for two weeks in May 1975. “Jackie Blue” is the bands’ best charting single.
    5. Crystal Blue Persuasion” by Tommy James & The Shondells” became one of the groups biggest hits in 1969, ranking 2 on Billboard Pop Singles where it stayed for 3-weeks. James told Hitch Magazine in 1985 that he came up with the song title from the Bible. This is what he said, “I took the title from the Book of Revelations in the Bible, reading about the New Jerusalem. The words jumped out at me, and they’re not together; they’re spread out over three or four verses. But it seemed to go together, it’s my favorite of all my songs and one of our most requested.” Wiki says, James’ manager recalls James was actually inspired by his readings of the Book of Ezekiel, which (he remembered as) speaking of a blue Shekhinah light that represented the presence of the Almighty God, and of the Book of Isaiah and Book of Revelation, which tell of a future age of brotherhood of mankind, living in peace and harmony. I thought this tidbit was fascinating to learn considering many thought the song was referrencing crystal meth or a blue colored LSD tablet available at the time. I’d like to think drugs had no part of the picture but only God knows the answer.
    6. Blue Collar Man” by Styx released in 1979 as a single from Pieces of Eight album. The song reached No. 9 in the US. I’m not a vinyl collector but I read that some issues got pressed on a translucent blue vinyl and is a highly sought after collectible.
    7. Blue Eyes” by Elton John isn’t one of my favorite songs by him. I could’ve gone with a different color song title like “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” but I have a theme to keep. 😉  “Blue Eyes” did well, though. It rode the Billboard Hot 100 charts for three weeks, peaking at # 12 and it took #1 on the Adult Contemporary charts for two weeks.
    8. Forever in Blue Jeans” by Neil Diamond released the year we married (1979). Although, I liked some of Diamond’s song I wasn’t really fan.  I barely remember this song. I liked this little fact  I found at Wikipedia…According to Cotton Incorporated “Neil Diamond might have been right when he named his 1979 #1 hit “Forever in Blue Jeans”: 81% of women are planning their next jeans purchase to be some shade of blue.” The song has been used to promote the sale of blue jeans, most notably Will Ferrell, impersonating Neil Diamond singing, for The Gap. Coincidentally, Diamond himself did radio ads for H.I.S. brand jeans in the 1960s, more than a decade before he sang this song.
    9. Bluer Than Blue” by country, pop artist Michael Johnson is one of many entertainers who passed last year and its with this song many associate the artist with.  “Bluer Than Blue” released in 1978 and became Johnson’s first hit song topping the adult contemporary chart for three weeks.
    10. Blue Suede Shoes” (cover) by Elvis Presley is the version I remember but it was Carl Perkins‘s original Cashbox Best Selling singles for 16-weeks and riding the #2 position for 2-weeks.  Elvis performed the song three times on National TV shows in 1956.  Wiki cited Moore saying this about the song…”Presley recorded the song to help out Perkins after his accident. Elvis wasn’t really thinking at that time that it was going to make money for Carl; he was doing it as more of a tribute type thing. Of course Carl was glad he did. It really helped as his record started going down.” Presley’s version did well on the charts (#20) but didn’t come close to Perkins’ success. It sounds like the King had a soft spot in his heart for helping others.

What mewsic moves you today?

Hold on to your hat, the mewsic isn’t over yet. It’s now time for round two of Battle of the Bands! Today I’m using my 4M theme inspiration for today’s battle song choice, except I’m giving you three song titles featuring the key words blue jeans.

Song #1 is by Train with Danny Trejo lipsyching the lyrics at time to “Angel in Blue Jeans”.  It’s kind of funny watching Trejo pretending to sing because his appearance definitely does not match Patrick Monahan’s vocals.

Song #2 is an oldie. I’m not 100% sure who did it first one sources claims Bruce Bruno released “Venus in Blue Jeans” in 1962 but the guy who shared this music video says, Barry Mann relased it first in 1955 before recording it 1961. It doesn’t matter to me, though. I like Mann’s version better than Bruno’s anyhow.

Song #3 is the only cover in this battle. A Neil Diamond cover of “Forever in Blue Jeans” by Idol hopeful, Jason Castro.

Ok, here’s the drill. Voting is open to everyone visiting. There is NO wrong vote, except if you DON’T vote. You can start by telling me in comments which artist or in this case song you like best and why (optional).

Who gets your vote, Angel, Venus, or Forever… in Blue Jeans?

You’ll find more awesome battles underway at some of these blog listed below (not everyone is doing the bi-monthly showdowns now) and if you’d like to be included in the fun, then contact Stephen requesting to be added to the list.

Angels Bark (Michele), Cherdo on the Flipside, Book Lover (Donna), The Doglady’s Den (Debbie), Your Daily Dose (Robin), Jingle Jangle Jungle (Mary), Mike’s Ramblings, Righting & Editing (Janie), STMcC Presents BoTB (Stephen, BoTB Manager)The Sound of One Hand Typing (John), & Tossing It Out (Lee).

I invite you to plug-in with the “Sparks” community hosted by good pal, Annie at McGuffy’s Reader where you can energize your soul and make the world a little better with sparks of encouragement. Let’s make the world a better place, one person at a time beginning with #1! 😉

5 Songs for the New Year, a Fabulous Resolutions Quote, #BoTB & #SYW

Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! This is gonna be a long post. Just relax and unwind. We’re in no hurry. In fact, I’m not sure who’s going to show today but for those who are ready to boogie then,  I invite you step on the floor with my dance partners:  XmasDolly, Stacy, & Colette!  This week’s theme is songs relating to “the New Year“.

We stayed up late last night ringing in the new year our traditional way movie marathan, pizza, and a whole of snacking. Naturally, we watched the ball drop in Time Square, kissed, exchanged happy new year wishes, and tossed to 2018 with nothing but the best – Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple Cider. I’m certain I’m moving slow today…maybe not even present in Blogosphere at the moment but I’ll get around to dancing with you!

Please read….This is a weekly hop for mewsic enthusiasts regardless if you follow our weekly theme if you have tunes to share then we’re ready to dance with you. Otherwise, I ask that you do not link non-related posts below to boost traffic to your site. You’re welcome to leave your URL in comments with a brief description inviting me (and others) to check it out. Thank you!

How did you spend New Year’s Eve? Are you ready to for a new beginning? What mewsic moves you?

Next, I invite you to plug-in with the “Sparks” community hosted by good pal, Annie at McGuffy’s Reader where you can energize your soul and make the world a little better with sparks of encouragement. Let’s make the world a better place, one person at a time beginning with #1! 😉

Can you live by these resolutions with me?

Okay, this is my last segment. In keeping with my New Year’s theme, I decided to go with two song parodies for my first Battle of the Bands for 2018. Hey, if you can’t keep ’em then laugh at ’em (or yourself)!

Parody #1 Hella Cravings (Adele “Hello”)

Parody #2 All About That Change (Meghan Trainor “It’s About That Bass”)

Ok, here’s the drill. Voting is open to everyone visiting. There is NO wrong vote, except if you DON’T vote. You can start by telling me in comments which artist or in this case song you like best and why (optional).

Which parody gets your vote, #1 or #2?

Here’s another chance to get to know me a wee bit better in Share Your World, hosted by Cee’s Photography. If you don’t see the little Q&A section beyond this point, then all that means is I need to lift them from Cee’s site and add them. Chances are I’m working on that right now or else there isn’t one this week, which ever you may want to come back to in a few to see if this has changed.

Hit the dance floor next week with “Your Choice” mewsic and find out which parody wins this first round of BoTB. My next showdown is on the 15th, so mark your calendar. Keep those tunes playing and your body swaying, I’ll see ya around the cyber block. I’ll be back tomorrow for Cathy Chats for a bit of random conversation and mewsic! 😉

Merry Christmas #4M & Christ’s Presence #Sparks

Hoo-Hoo-Hoo! Merry Christmas, Kittens and Dawgs! I seriously doubt many of y’all will find time to boogie today and that’s purrfectly fine by me. Enjoy it, spend time with the family but if you are here whenever that may be, we are groovin’ all month-long to Christmas tunes and  I invite you step on the floor with my dance partners:  XmasDolly, Stacy, & Colette!

Are you ready to groove to some mewsic? In keeping with my Christmas Songs Name Spelling I thought this one is ideal for this morning…C.H.R.I.S.T.M.A.S!

Hey, I know I stretched a bit on this name choice but Christ is part of Christmas so it’s an excellent work around for my theme after all Christ is what Christmas is all about! 😀

What Christmas mewsic moves you?

This is a weekly hop for mewsic enthusiasts regardless if you follow our weekly theme or not if you have mewsic to share then we’re ready to dance with you. I’m updating this post to reflect a new hop, Share Your World, hosted by Cee’s Photography that I’d like to incorporate into my routine. This is my first attempt and hopefully it won’t be my last. Here’s another chance to get to know me a wee bit better. 😉

What caring thing are you going to do for yourself today? The best way I know to care for myself is to do something I enjoy and here lately that’s been sketching. Thanks to DH for the Apple Pencil he got me for my birthday a couple of weeks ago, I’m having lots of fun every day doodling on my iPad. It’s an amazing little gadget!

List at least five of your favorite spices? (excluding salt and pepper)

Here’s my list not necessarily in order of importance.

  1. cinnamon
  2. clove
  3. nutmeg
  4. cummin
  5. cilantro

Now, isn’t that I named all “C” spices and coincidentally the first letter of my name. 🙂

What can you always be found with? You’ll always find my iPhone with me most of the time unless I’m cleaning the house and at that moment when I lay it aside is often when I miss a call from one of my children.  Can you tell me how it they do this every time?

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week? I not only appreciate but feel inspired every time I see Christmas lights. We visited the western North Carolina mountain communities on Friday and some of those tiny towns were really decked for the holiday!

Keep those tunes playing and your body swaying, I’ll see ya around the cyber block eventually but for now I’m just chillaxing with DH! Merry Christmas, dear friends! X💋X💋, Cathy

Please forgive the newness of my movie creating skills. If you’re on FB then you’ve seen a similiar one to this but for those who haven’t. I created this on my iPad using the Procreate app and Apple Pencil to sketch the wintry artwork scene; then added it to iMovie on my computer add the text and voice recording for my Christmas wish to you!  😉

Be Thankful for What You Got #4M

Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! I’m going to keep things simple today. This is a short but full week for many especially for those of us in the US. Our mewsic theme is songs aboutThanksgiving or being thankful“. Here’s my Thanksgiving playlist!

  1. “Be Thankful for What You Got” by William DeVaughn (incidentally I used this three cover songs of this in last week’s BoTB. You’re invited to check it out & cast your vote for your favorite artist) is an excellent song to remind us to be grateful for what we have instead of looking to our neighbors who have more and to be thankful.  This is the way I translate it….be happy with what you have, keep your eyes off what others have because when you look around there are others who are worse off than you.
  2. “Every Good Thing” by The Afters reminds us we’re all guilty of taking life for granted and it’s with these words I am thankful…”You’re the reason for every good thing, every heartbeat. Every day we get to breathe. You’re the reason for anything that lasts, every second chance. Every laugh, life is so sweet.”
  3. “Why Me Lord” by Kris Kristofferson isn’t a song I would say reminds me of Thanksgiving but I certainly get the point of the lyrics, it’s a humbled man talking to the Lord who’s obviously filled with gratitude for Jesus’ love
  4. “Thankful” by Josh Groban reminds us there is joy around us but we forget to notice which is something I’m constantly reminding myself to seek the happy tidbits amidst the troubles because life isn’t purrfect.
  5. “Presence of the Lord” by Blind Faith  is considered to be the first true supergroup formed by Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood, and Ric Grech. Another song title that isn’t obviously stated but showing your thankfulness is to live in the presence of the Lord.
  6. “All Things” by Citizen Way is a story told by a woman living on hard times who reminds the listener to give the Lord thanks for all things even those things we don’t even know.  This is something I strive to pray for daily because I know everything in my world comes from God and without Him I’d have nothing.
  7. “Grateful” by Rita Ora is an excellent reminder that we give thanks for the storms in our lives because rising above it all makes us stronger while teaching us to appreciate the sun even more.

Are you ready to groove?  My partners XmasDolly, Stacy, &  Colette are ready to boogie with you and you’re invited to step out on the dance floor with us now!

This is a weekly hop for mewsic enthusiasts regardless if you follow our weekly theme or not if you have mewsic to share then we’re ready to dance with you. Otherwise, I ask that you do not link non-mewsic posts to boost traffic to your site. You’re welcome to leave your URL in comments with a brief description inviting me (and others) to check it out. Thank you for respecting this simple rule!

HS Days One-Hit Wonders #4M & Grateful for ALL Things Quote #Sparks

Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! I’m taking life easy in Blogosphere. The holidays are fast approaching and instead of getting stressed about this or that, I’m just going with the flow. Our mewsic theme this week is “One-Hit Wonders from Your High School Days” submitted by today’s Spotlight Dancer, Vandy J from The Testosterone Three and Me. Very cool theme I might say, not that I’m doing a series on this subject or anything. 😉

I graduated in 1980, so my high school years spanned the late 70s. This is currently the decade I’m working on with my #1 One-Hit Wonders series, so I thought I’d pick those one-hit wonders that were a little less known to me, such as my opening song “It Must Be Love” by Alton McClain & Destiny peaking #32 on June 9, 1979 which coincidentally is our wedding date. Yeah, I was a child bride and you can read a little more about it here. Now, stroll down memory lane with my high school years one-hit wonders playlist!

  1. Summer 1976, “Save Your Kisses For Me” Brotherhood of Man, peaked #27
  2. Fall 1977 “Smoke From a Distant Fire” Sanford Townsend Band, peaked #9
  3. Summer 1978 “Dance Across the Floor” Jimmy Bo Horne, peaked #38
  4. Summer 1980 “New Romance” Spider, peaked #39

Some of these one-hit wonders I remember but most I can’t say for sure, except for the #9 charting song. Okay, it’s your turn, what mewsic moves you today?

I invite you to hit the dance floor with my dance partners XmasDolly, Stacy,  & Colette!

This is a weekly hop for mewsic enthusiasts regardless if you follow our weekly theme or not if you have mewsic to share then we’re ready to dance with you. Otherwise, I ask that you do not link non-mewsic posts below to boost traffic to your site. You’re welcome to leave your URL in comments with a brief description inviting me to check it out. Thank you!

I invite you hop over to McGuffy’s Reader for more “Sparks” of inspiraiton/encouragement. Let’s make the world a better place, one person at a time beginning with #1! 😉

I pulled together a playlist of Contemporary Christian and Country Artists with songs about blessings/gratitude prior to knowing today’s mewsic theme and instead of ditching it, I decided to share it in this segment. Hey, what can I say, I love mewsic!  This is the season of reflection and a time to express gratitude for everything in you life no matter how small or how difficult because we have it better than most. We just need to open our eyes to receive the blessings in all shapes

  1. “We Are Blessed” All Sons & Daughters
  2. “I Could Not Ask For More” Sara Evans
  3. “Blessings” Laura Story
  4. “It’s a Great Day to be Alive” Travis Tritt
  5. “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” Matt Redman
  6. “But For The Grace of God” Keith Urban
  7. “Good Good Father” Chris Tomlin
  8. “Live Like You Were Dying” Tim McGraw

I’m chillaxing in Blogosphere with the upcoming holidays. There’s no need to add stress to one’s life. This is a season of blessings and good cheer, so enjoy it – live in the moment! Keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and I’ll see ya around the cyber block soon! X💋X💋, Cathy
