Movie Review & Giveaway: 1 NIGHT (ends 03.07.2017) & Who Do You Trust?

What if you could go back in time without changing the outcome? Would you?

Good morning Kittens & Dawgs! I want to present to you a Level 33 film written and directed by Minhal Baig; produced by Kerry Barden, Hans S. Canosa, & Marius A. Markevicius.

Visit 1 NIGHT Facebook Fan Page!

A romantic drama starring Anna Camp, Justin Chatwin, Isabelle Fuhrman, Kyle Allen, Kelli Berglund, Roshon Fegan, and Evan Hofer. Written and Directed by Minhal Baig and produced by Kerry Barden, Hans S. Canosa, & Marius A. Markevicius.

Anna Camp plays thirty-something Elizabeth who must decide whether her disappointed marriage is salvageable with Drew (Justin Chatwin) while a worried teen, Bea (Isabelle Fuhrman), reconnects with Andy (Kyle Allen), a shy childhood friend, who try to move past their high school social status after the prom. This is a story of past and present colliding as two couples explore love in one night at a hotel.

I’m not usually one for romantic dramas and quite honestly the trailer didn’t inspire a lot of confidence to see this film. Perhaps it just me, maybe it was the mood I was in or whatever but I had the chance to see the flick early in exchange for my opinion and to host a giveaway on Curious as a Cathy.

The movie begins slow and stays so consistently throughout the flick. If you’re the impatient, waiting for something big to happen person like me then you’ll be disappointed. I decided to ride the waves of melancholy presented in the script that the actors executed well. While the story unfolded I found I wanted to see a good outcome for the young married couple in trouble and I had hopes that the teens took the advice given by two strangers oddly interested in them. I actually enjoyed the movie. If you like slow-paced dramas then this is definitely up your alley and if not but you kinda wanna see it coz it sounds sorta good then here’s a chance to win a free copy of the movie!

I will participate in this blog hop today & you’re invited to follow along! 😉

What a coincidence this viewing of this movie sorta is a purrfect fit for today’s Coffee Chat prompt hosted by Les from Ink Interrupted who asks: Who do you trust most?

It won’t come as a surprise to any of you if you read last week’s Coffee Chat response with my answer to today’s question but excluding God,  I trust DH above all others.  He’s my protector – physically and emotionally and I composed a little poem just my sweetie!

I borrowed the background from a free Internet resource. The original file name credits the author as JSF but I cannot find it online now. 🙁

Trust in a relationship goes beyond one’s faithfulness.  It’s also a measure of love and sacrifice. How far will DH go for me? This is something I never asked of or from him but it’s a role he stepped into willingly because he loves me so deeply.  I am honored by this pledge of adoration.

That’s a wrap for this morning. I’m hopping over to Stacy’s for Random Tuesday Thoughts and you’re welcome to join me if you want. I hope you’ll hop & link up tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday before you leave you might want to listen to this morning featured artist on Tuesday Tunesation!

I hope you’ll join me at midnight and link up with my mid-week meme not-so Wordless Wednesday.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

@TheFlagshirt #review

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! American pride is something we all have for our country and we love to show it on special occasions, but why wait? I think it’s good to show your colors for the red, white, and blue anytime of the year.

Over the years, I have gotten DH several patriotic shirts. He has two favorites ~ a waving flag Polo and a long-sleeve American flag shirt. These are beautiful shirts!

A week ago, he asked if I could get him a navy version of the waving flag and a slightly different version of the LS American flag shirt. I was able to order the Polo as requested. Who-hoo! The smaller sizes are out of stock for the other shirt until September. No worries, I’ll be sure to order at that time and who knows…maybe I’ll want something else then, too. 😀

So, why am I telling you all of this you say? Well… the owner of the company sent me an email thanking me for my recent purchase and asked that I tell my friends about them. So, being the girl next door that I am, I wanted to help spread the word.

The folks at The Flagshirt company have a great site filled with patriotic apparel for the whole family. They have tees, tanks, short-sleeve, long-sleeve, and sweatshirts, but they are more than shirt store. They have board shorts, bikini wear, beach towels, hats, flip-flops, and so much more. Show your American pride anytime, shop….

The Kennedy Chocolate Taste-Off Challenge #review

Last month, I pitched a request to my Facebook friends asking their opinion of what’s the best chocolates they have tried. Most of the responses mentioned chocolatiers I knew and the few I didn’t know I investigated.

Let me begin by saying this review is not a sponsored post and I was not compensated by any of the companies that fell prey to our taste buds. We bought every last sinful bite and no doubt will regret eating too many sweets after Christmas but that’s a post for another time. This write-up is purely FYI.

I knew, since last Christmas I wanted to get Lake Champlain Chocolates. It’s been years! We got a couple of familiar boxes of chocolates that we always liked to try again.

Holiday Chocolates of Vermontholiday-chocolates-of-vermont_2 What’s in the box: 4 each Honey Caramel, Green Mountain, Maple Crunch, & Evergreen Mints.

holiday-chocolate-assortment-30pc_1Holiday Chocolate Assortment 30pc What’s in the box: milk, dark, and white assorted chocolates, including 10 truffles. (Click on the link to get full details)

Excited to try Lake Champlain Chocolates after many years, my enthusiasm quickly dwindled to discover the once superior quality has slipped. The truffle centers lacked flavor and too fluffy making them more of a melt away chocolate instead of the consistency usually associated with truffles. The other chocolates as well were weak on flavor. It seems like they are skimping on quantity and quality of ingredients, but still charging premium prices for their product. A common flaw I see that’s practiced by many companies. I do have two good things to say about our LCC experience. The box chocolates are beautiful to receive and the chocolate’s (shells only) is satin elegance on your tongue. We have no plans to order from LCC in the immediate future. Maybe, we’ll try them again in two or three years.

The night we place our LCC order, we also bought from a new-to-us chocolate company in Maine, Dean’s Sweets, who specializes only in truffles. Perfect!

We optedboxed8_sm to get the 8-piece Maine Mix collection – link removed because as of 12-28-2016 no longer is available on their site. What’s inside the box: 2 each Maple, Blueberry, Maine Sea Salt Caramel, & Needham.

DS truffles are smaller than most and expensive considering we only got a ¼ pound of chocolates. However, we hoped the taste would make up for the quantity. The quality is good. I wouldn’t say it was exceptional but far better than LCC and of the four flavors we considered the Maine Sea Salt Caramel outstanding. The other truffles failed to meet our taste palette expectations. That being said, will we order from Dean’s Sweets again. Yes, I see another order in our future.

After sampling these chocolates, we decided to order from a very well-known chocolate company,  GODIVA, instead of being molested by Christmas shoppers at the mall. Yeah, me and my personal space issues, right? lol  I’m not gonna lie to you, we placed a sizable order AGAIN. We didn’t discriminate, either. We got dark, milk, and white chocolates ~ truffles and other chocolates. We wanted to try a variety.

Here’s what we wound up with (hey, don’t judge).

What can I say, except Godiva was FANTASTIC like always. Needless to say, Godiva wins hands down easily and you betcha we’ll continue to buy from Godiva!

Pssst… just wanted to throw this out to ya that Godiva has a little promo going on where you can receive a $10 gift certificate for every $50 you spend. This offer expires ends shortly before Christmas and I found out the GCs mailed after Christmas. It’s a nice incentive, especially if you’re planning to buy anyhow. Oh yeah, you can further your savings by going through Ebates. (If you click this link & join with me, then after you make your first purchase I will receive a one- time bonus of $5 and a chance at the $10,000 sweeps.)

I have one more mail order candy review up my sleeve. Come back to see how See’s Candies fairs in the Kennedy Chocolate Taste-Off Challenge.

Thursday Thoughts: North Country Wind Bells Review & Giveaway

Earlier in the week, I announced the super prospect of doing something really special for you guys. Things panned out like I had hoped! It’s my honor to introduce you to North Country Wind Bells. Connie, please tell us a little about you and your business.

Thank you, Cathy. I am the second generation of our Maine company, as my parents started the business back in the mid ‘70’s.  My parents started the “Buoy Bell® Series” which echo the “Haunting Sounds and Magic Memories®” of the bell buoys on the ocean’s waters, great lakes and mighty rivers.  One can hear a sample of our wind bells in the video below.

We live on the rugged coast of Maine of which we cherish all the beauty around us.  The inspiration in our unique designs and sounds are derived from the beautiful forests and ever changing seas.  We work very hard to create excellent quality and service in our work and we stand behind it!  The steel we use is over 60% recycled steel, being cognizant of our environment.  Our work practices include all that we can be to strive forward as a green company as well.

In 1989, DH and I spent our 10th wedding anniversary on the coast of Maine in the quaint little town of Boothbay Harbor. The charm and mystery of vacationing on the shore of down-east is mesmerizing, especially the sounds that accompany its quaint beauty. We fell in love with the resonant harbor buoy bell.

Shortly after we returned home from our forever memorable vacation, DH stumbled upon North Country Wind Bells in a popular mail-order catalog. Ecstatically, we purchased the Boothbay Harbor buoy bell replicate wind bell. The comfort its music brings calms the storm within, while turbulent winds bellow outside.

We have enjoyed our North Country Wind Bells so much so that we have gifted the exact one to family members. This is the perfect all-occasion, made in Maine present to give to anyone! And… you know how important it is to us that products are made in the USA, too. They gets double kondo points on this one! 😉

This brings me to the point of today’s post. The good folks at North Country Wind Bells have agreed to give away one Boothbay Harbor Wind Bell with a black buoy bell wind catcher to one of my lucky readers.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

North Country Wind Bells is a fabulous gift-giving idea. Right now through mid-October you can get US flat-rate shipping for only $6.95!  After that it will go to $8.95, but hey, that’s still a great deal considering no matter how much you order, you pay only a low, flat-rate price. Totally cool, eh?

I want to invite you to browse their site, just click on the button below!

Meet Kim of HelKima Jewelry

Photo borrowed.

Today’s post was going to be a more in-depth article, but currently, Kim is in Argentina riding out Hurricane Sandy. But, I’m not going to be outdone by a super storm. So, I want to give you a brief introduction of sorts. Here goes….

Kim and I go way back to our youthful days in the hills of West Virginia. Isn’t she a lovely lady?  It’s clear with Kim’s beautiful smile things have changed little from our school years with that winning, outgoing personality that all the rest of us wanted.

Like many classmates do, Kim and I lost touch. A few years ago, just as I was beginning to take flight with all the social networking, she & I were re-acquainted.  God bless Mark Zuckerberg’s innovation for pulling off such a tremendous platform such as Facebook.

One day, while scrolling through my Facebook feed I was surprised to discover something interesting about Kim with one of her comments.  Naturally, I was enthralled to learn more, so I began reading. That’s when I found out my friend is a crafty little thing.

I’m not talking about the nickel and dime crafting, either. You know what I’m talking about, the stuff your Aunt Mabel makes for you at Christmas and you’re obligated to say, “Oh, how nice this is!” But, what you’re really thinking is, “Where do I hide it?” or “This is going in the trash!”

Kim’s crafting…well, let’s just say I found out she’s a bona fide jewelry designer. Move over Martha Stewart!  I do not wear much jewelry and my collection is modest at best. However, being the woman I am, I do like anything girlie. I admire stunning works of art in the form of female ornamentation – earrings, necklaces, or bracelets. One thing I like about HelKima Jewelry designs is it’s classy. Take a look….

Watch in the coming days for my interview with Kim. I know you’re gonna wanna get to know her and to learn about her jewelry crafting passion. Meanwhile, if you’re sold on her work already and no doubt you are, then you can get a price quote on your own one-of-a-kind design by HelKima Jewelry by sending your request to her on FB (see under “About” tab) for a personal design piece or you may leave your email in my comments along with your request. I’ll be sure she gets each one.

Hurricane Sandy has really caused more than a stir this week. This brings me to my T2Q:

1. Were you directly affected by the super storm? If so, how?

2. Have you ever been affected by a natural disaster?

Visit Miss Jenny and the rest of the Alphabe-Thursday classroom for more homework assignments of the letter ‘X’ and while you’re hopping around, be sure to play along with Miss Amanda in her latest edition of Thursday Two Questions.

Have a super Thursday!

Disclosure: This post is not paid advertisement nor was I compensated for writing it. This is a personal favor done on my behalf for the sole purpose of helping to promote my friend’s new ambition.
