Hello, Kitten & Dawgs, I’m keeping things fairly short today but if you’re interested in seeing my watercolor Iris Mother’s Day card I did for my mother then check out Cathy Chats segment from yesterday. 😉
I created this fantasy photo-art after snapping a short of twin mushrooms growing in our yard. Using Obsidian brushes I added the pixie and glitter effects plus I used a free bokeh texture (unfortunately the site I borrowed it from is no longer working) as an overlay.
The rest of the week and maybe the next two, I’m talking it easy to regroup after the April A to Z Challenge. Not to worry, if you leave your footprints here on my site, I will follow them back to you. I’ll see you soon!
Welcome Kittens & Dawgs! It looks Wednesdays this month is going to another dual blog post. That’s ok, it’s all about the love and fun we share for one another anyhow, right? ; Getting my beautiful Valentine’s Day rose provided a good photo-op using it as a prop in these shots. For a long time, I wanted to photograph a single red rose with my pearls DH got me for our 30th anniversary and finally I got it!
The following image, I shared the week before last in the CTST part of my post. I opened it in Pixelmator to give it a makeover adding an antique overlay to the background, then applying the Bouvardia Vignette effect.
Below, I added an icy heart overlay, a freebie resource I downloaded, here. I put our initials in the frosty heart giving my creation a special touch.
Here’s another image I shared on Friday in CTST but I reinvented that photo-art creation with new effects today. Which do you like the best this one or the one from Friday?
Okay, you not-so WW crowd, you’re here and there’s no need to rush off just yet. I invite you to stick around for the second half to help pick the next winner in March 1st Battle of the Bands.
All the love I feel thanks to DH gave me the purrfect song choice. I’m going with the King of Rock n’ Roll’s classic hit Love Me Tender, a re-work of Aura Lee first performed by Frances Farmer in 1936. Just for the fun, I thought I’d use two foreign mewsicians to perform Elvis’s song in An Italian VS a FrenchmaninBoTB!
Representing Italy, Ricky Shayne.
France’s singer, Johnny Hallyday.
Ok, here’s the drill. Voting is open to everyone visiting. There is NO wrong vote, except if you DON’T vote. You can start by telling me in comments which artist you like best and why (optional).
Which artist gets your vote, Italy (Ricky Shayne) or France (Johnny Hallyday)?
The fun continues with more epic battles underway and I invite you to visit the official manager of BoTB, Stephen for the update list of players. Check back, next week same place and time to see if your pick gets named the winner! 😉
I hope you’ll join me noon tomorrow for Thursday Movie Picks!
Hello, Kittens and Dawgs! About this time last year, we spent the day in Upper Tremont area in the Smoky Mountains which I shared with you. I thought I’d share today’s image of a lovely mountain stream that no doubt feeds the Middle Prong Little River with the sun peeking through the trees.
I invite you to visit the global photo enthusiast community Skywatch Friday for more spectacular sky views!
Today, I Celebrate The Small Things!
I’m celebrating…the nice weather. The spring-like conditions we’re having is a double blessing. It’s great to have a break from the cold and it lowers our electric bill. I’m celebrating long weekends. Last weekend, we had a 4-day weekend. DH’s scheduled Friday off and then President’s Day this past Monday. It was nice to just relax, especially since we’re both a bit under the weather with allergies. It’s an ongoing thing. I’m celebrating photography creativity.
a touch of romance with perfume and pearls
It’s wonderful to experiment with textures and colors to express something new with my photos. How are your creative energies today? I’m celebrating DH’s spontaneity bringing home take-out from a Mexican restaurant we hadn’t eaten at in years. What fun! And the best news of all, I’m celebrating the marvelous mews that DH’s employer moved him to “permanent employment status”. This gives a bit more job security and all the employee perks – insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, … Thanks to everyone who’s kept him in prayer and thank you, Jesus, for answering our prayers. Yippee!
What are you celebrating?
See what others are celebrating this week and if you want to join the linky, then visit Lexa for details!
I invite you to stick around for your weekly dose of laughter with Friday Sillies & Friendly Fill-ins.
Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! Let me begin with announcing the results of last week’s BoTB. I did another Sunny cover song between three Johns, which I thought was sorta clever. I liked the three styles that were different enough but maintaining a resemblance to Hebb’s original. I picked Johnny Mathis mostly because I love his smooth style but a little because his version is more unique. Here’s how the voting went. Mathis – 2, Rivers – 1, and Walker – 5. Walker is the John winning this battle!
Please don’t be mad at me. It’s not snowing here but when nature doesn’t dish it out then I decided to make some winter magic. You might recall a few weeks ago, I turned spring photo of a church into a snowy winter scene. In part that’s what inspired me for this little photo-edit fun session. I took a few photos of my Christmas Village. Hey, don’t judge! I still have it up but in my defense, it’s winter and it totally works! Anywho, I thought why not get creative by making my scenes look fabulous wintry and snowy. Oh baby, let it snow, Let It Snow!
Both originals looked okay but since I took them during the day the mood just didn’t work for me. I’ll share those in a bit.
In Pixelmator, I applied a Falling Snowing overlay (freebie photo-edit resource) on both images. The top photo I used two different overlays from the same download bundle, which came with a total of four overlays. I had loads of fun making these! Doesn’t it look like it’s snowing?
Now, here are the originals.
Don’t they just scream, DO SOMETHING NEAT WITH ME?
Usually, I like sharing another mewsic vid of the BoTB winner but the best I can do this time is to give you John as part of The Walker Brothers band.
Next showdown is February 15th. I hope you mark your calendar to come to cast your vote! Don’t forget to join me tomorrow for another peek through my lens with my newest edition of Skywatch Friday and CTST now on Thursdays!
Howdy, kittens and dawgs! Yesterday, I shared sunset shots taken from Water Rock Knob, North Carolina. I got a little creative and thought I’d share it with you and if you like photo-art, then you may want to visit Claudia for s-A(R)T-urday.
In my original, I bumped the grey scale removing most of the color except for the sunset glow and added my copyright. Then, I went back in added a bokeh heart background as an overlay and lowered the opacity so the hearts appear faintly in the image. My last touch came with the color balance in which I bumped the mid-tones and highlights causing the sunset to stand out.
Alrighty, I know I’m late with announcing June 1st battle showdown between Judy Collins and Eddie Money covering Drops of Jupiter by Train. I know you guys follow these battles pretty darn close, even with out the help of a fancy widget showing the results. Anywho, here’s how it went down.
Eddie Money was like a runaway Train (pun intended, totally) in this battle making him the clear victor.
Who got my vote? Conflicted on who to give mine to, I went back and forth between the artists until I finally decided to give it to Judy Collins. Her vocals and song style was different from the original and Eddie’s giving Drops of Jupiter more of that summer airiness I was referring to in my post. Judy made the song seem magical like a summer night. 😀
Congratulations to Eddie Money!
I know many of y’all couldn’t cast your vote thanks to the internet police restricting both video contents to folks outside the USA. I really don’t get this, but that’s just the way things go.
Unfortunately, I failed to make all the rounds this time. I got side tracked with repairing issues Google flagged on my site. This is the second time in the past month I’ve gotten notification from Google. Each time something new and it’s so annoying.
Last week the urge for a blog hiatus hit kinda hard. I need energizing! So, starting now, I’m officially taking a break from blogging. This is a perfect time to kick back while blog traffic is light, too. I’m not setting my return date in stone, but I’m aiming for July 1st. Who knows, I might sneak back early or decide to go a little longer. I’m playing it by ear.
Thanks for your votes! I hope you’ll visit Stephen to see how the other showdowns went down. This is Curious as a Cathy signing off with….
Baby Hold On to me. I’ll be back in Blogosphere in a wink of an eye! 😉
