New Year’s Resolution Giggles

Today, I Celebrate The Small Things

I’m celebrating the time spent with DH over the long Christmas weekend and am looking forward to this weekend because it’s a holiday weekend, too. It won’t be as long but it’s still one more day I can spend with him. The good thing is next week will be a only a three day work week for him because Monday is a holiday and then Friday is his scheduled day off. Whoo-hoo!

I’m celebrating having gotten to visit Forest City, North Carolina last Friday. It’s a small community south east of Asheville about an hour. We read about it a few years ago as it was listed in one a travel magazine for having an amazing light display and it did not fail to disappoint, either. Check back next week for my not-so Wordless Wednesday post for a sample!

I’m celebrating the fun of sketching with my Apple Pencil & iPad. It’s a soothing hobby to create without having my table cluttered with drawing parenphenalia all the time. Not that I’m giving charocoal and paper up because I’m not. I like the feel of working with these mediums. Do you want to hear something funny? When I do smudging or blending with my electronic devices I catch myself blowing my finger off. lol

I’m celebrating listening to Christmas mewsic for the last week time this year. I so love, love everything about the holidays, especially the mewsic and it’s always so hard to give it up but I know it’s important to keep things in their proper place so to not wear out a good thing.

What are you celebrating?

I couldn’t resist this last bit of Christmas humor. *snicker-snicker*

Switching gears, I’m rounding things out with these Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by the lovely, Annie and Ellen!

  1. On New Year’s Eve, I sit in the livingroom with DH to have enjoy a movie marathon evening with pizza and lots of snacks.
  2. One goal I have for 2018 is to make an effort to sketch daily either in my drawing journal or using my Apple Pencil & iPad.
  3. In 2017, I accomplished the April A-Z Challenge but that’s not as the fantasic part, it’s was my that I posted about, Art Sketching Through the Alphabet. I felt inadquate in my artistic ability, so getting over the hurdle to put pencil to paper was a challenge and then to share with the world was another. I told myself life is too short and I didn’t want to regret one day for not trying.
  4. I discovered during the April challenge I possess some art talent in 2017. I’m not a Leonardo deVinci… yet but I am having fun with it and I will never have to worry with the regret of not trying. 😉

That’s a wrap for now but I hope to see you on the dance floor with New Years Themed Songs on Mondays Mewsic Moves Me!  X💋X💋,

Be Thankful for What You Got #4M

Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! I’m going to keep things simple today. This is a short but full week for many especially for those of us in the US. Our mewsic theme is songs aboutThanksgiving or being thankful“. Here’s my Thanksgiving playlist!

  1. “Be Thankful for What You Got” by William DeVaughn (incidentally I used this three cover songs of this in last week’s BoTB. You’re invited to check it out & cast your vote for your favorite artist) is an excellent song to remind us to be grateful for what we have instead of looking to our neighbors who have more and to be thankful.  This is the way I translate it….be happy with what you have, keep your eyes off what others have because when you look around there are others who are worse off than you.
  2. “Every Good Thing” by The Afters reminds us we’re all guilty of taking life for granted and it’s with these words I am thankful…”You’re the reason for every good thing, every heartbeat. Every day we get to breathe. You’re the reason for anything that lasts, every second chance. Every laugh, life is so sweet.”
  3. “Why Me Lord” by Kris Kristofferson isn’t a song I would say reminds me of Thanksgiving but I certainly get the point of the lyrics, it’s a humbled man talking to the Lord who’s obviously filled with gratitude for Jesus’ love
  4. “Thankful” by Josh Groban reminds us there is joy around us but we forget to notice which is something I’m constantly reminding myself to seek the happy tidbits amidst the troubles because life isn’t purrfect.
  5. “Presence of the Lord” by Blind Faith  is considered to be the first true supergroup formed by Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood, and Ric Grech. Another song title that isn’t obviously stated but showing your thankfulness is to live in the presence of the Lord.
  6. “All Things” by Citizen Way is a story told by a woman living on hard times who reminds the listener to give the Lord thanks for all things even those things we don’t even know.  This is something I strive to pray for daily because I know everything in my world comes from God and without Him I’d have nothing.
  7. “Grateful” by Rita Ora is an excellent reminder that we give thanks for the storms in our lives because rising above it all makes us stronger while teaching us to appreciate the sun even more.

Are you ready to groove?  My partners XmasDolly, Stacy, &  Colette are ready to boogie with you and you’re invited to step out on the dance floor with us now!

This is a weekly hop for mewsic enthusiasts regardless if you follow our weekly theme or not if you have mewsic to share then we’re ready to dance with you. Otherwise, I ask that you do not link non-mewsic posts to boost traffic to your site. You’re welcome to leave your URL in comments with a brief description inviting me (and others) to check it out. Thank you for respecting this simple rule!

What mewsic moves you today? ?

I invite you hop over to McGuffy’s Reader for more “Sparks” of inspiraiton/encouragement. Let’s make the world a better place, one person at a time beginning with #1! 😉

Do you see your life as good, bad, or in-between? What things are you thankful for this year?

Keep those tunes playing and your body swaying, I’ll see ya around the cyber block as quickly as possible. It’s gonna get busy from here on! X💋X💋, Cathy

My December #BOTB results

dsc_7425

Hello, Kittens and dawgs!  Yesterday DH and I spent the whole day in the mountains. We ventured to a few of our favorite western North Carolina mountain communities – Bryson City and Dillsboro and on our way home we stopped in Pigeon Forge to see the lights at The Island (picture above is a tiny sample).  I will share more pictures either for Skywatch Friday or next week’s edition of Wordless Wednesday or maybe both times. I’ll just keep you guessing so you’ll have to keep a close tab on my site. 😀 Yes, I’m sneaking like that.  Now on to why you’re really here and that’s to learn the outcome of My December #BoTB showdown.

In this round, I pitted Josh Groban against Scala & Kolacny Brothers covering Linkin’ Parks My December.  The battle tipped heavily to one side and if you’ve followed comments then you know already who the winner is.  I preferred Josh Groban’s cover just like nearly everyone else giving him a decisive victory of 11 to 2!

To learn how other BoTBs turned out, I invite you to visit the official manager of BoTB, Stephen for the update list of players.

I hope you’ll join tomorrow for Friday Sillies and other Friday fun stuff.  This is Curious as a Cathy signing off with the sound of Christmas with Josh Groban.

Have a songtastic day!

My December #BOTB showdown

Welcome to My December, Kittens and Dawgs! This is my favorite time of the year. December is my birth month and is the month for my favorite holiday. Not worry, though. I won’t be doing a showdown featuring a Christmas tune. I admit I was tempted but I decided to do something different.

In this first battle of December, I’m using Linkin Park’s My December. Written by band member, Mike Shinoda, while on the road this song captures a guy’s heartache after a fight with his girlfriend and how he wants her back.

The thing I like about this somewhat new-to-me song is the music more than the lyrics.

The first contender is a very well-known artist with awesome smooth vocals with a very calming cover. Please listen to Josh Groban.

The second contender is a new-to-me discovery and their mewsic style covering My December is rather nice and soothing, which almost makes me think of Christmas. Please listen to Scala & Kolacny Brothers.

Ok, here’s the drill. Voting is open to everyone visiting. There is NO wrong vote, except if you DON’T vote. Who gets your vote, Josh Groban or Scala & Kolacny Brothers?  Please tell me in comments which artist you like best and why (optional)! 😉

The fun continues with more epic battles underway and I invite you to visit the official manager of BoTB, Stephen for the update list of players. I hope you’ll join me tomorrow for a few laughs with Friday Sillies and more Friday fun stuff. I’ll leave you with yet another cover (not included in the showdown) of an unknown artist who closely matches Linkin Park. What do you think?

Have a songtastic day!

#BOTB: Bridge Over Troubled Water on #music

Hello, kittens & dawgs! As luck would have it BOTB falls on Monday twice this month, so I am able to do a two for one special. Music is what makes my heart beat, but then you already know this with two weekly posts dedicated to tunes. I’m happy to share my participation in the BATTLE OF THE BANDS (BOTB) & Monday’s Music Moves Me (which I co-host) with you.

Far Away Series & Steven T. McCarthy are hosts of this little shindig. The BoTB basic rules are as follows: You listen to different recordings of the same song and vote for the one you like best by leaving it in comments. There are two “Battles” per month ~ the 1st and 15th. Six days later (the 7th and 21st), I tally the votes (including my pick) and announce the winner.

Let the battle begin!

Bridge over Troubled Water charted in over 11 countries, topping the charts in 10 countries, including the US Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart. It was the best-selling album in 1970, ’71, and ’72 and at that time was the best-selling album of all time, a position it kept until the mid-80s.

Simon & Garfunkel

Since Simon & Garfunkel release many other artists have recorded or performed Bridge Over Troubled Water, like Elvis, John LegendWillie Nelson, Jackie Evancho, LeAnn Rimes, Roberta Flack, Jimmy London (reggae version), and Eva Cassidy to name a few. But, I wanted to pit other duos against the original. How will they fare? You decide as you listen.

Jon Bon Jovi & Richie Sambora

Josh Groban & Brian McKnight

Sissel & Russell Watson

Okay, here’s what you do to vote. In my comments section, tell me which band you like the best and why. After you’re done, then why not see what other BOTB participants (see below) are sharing.

Love Lifted Me when I found Victory in Jesus as You Raise Me Up

Welcome to week 175 of

Create with Joy, our first spotlight dancer of the New Year picked this week’s theme – songs that represent key moments in your life.  For example, Stevie Wonder’s song In the Key of Life always stuck instrumental with her throughout her life.

What tunes do you find that are a key to those instrumental moments in your life? Whatever that music is, then we want to hear it right here on Monday’s Music Moves Me!

Gospel music was a cornerstone of my youth. Music is an instrument that God used to speak to my heart as a child. Even before I surrendered my heart to Christ, I found comfort in these old classics and even to this day when I’m burdened my heart soars knowing that through Jesus’s love I will emerge victoriously.

Classic gospel music holds a dear place in my heart. The next artist isn’t a gospel singer, but this song is encouraging and inspiring – two key elements that are instrumental in restoring my spirit.

We all have go-to songs during times of crisis or sorrow. Songs that just seem to pick us up when nothing else will. It gives me a great sense of comfort knowing that through music God tends to my emotional well-being.

Our lovely hostesses, XmasDolly, would like to thank you for joining the party and as always JAmericanSpice, Stacy Uncorked, Just the stuff ya know & myself are happy that you came. Now, it’s time to get our groove on with you so remember to link up and shake your bootie with the fellow rockin’ blogger buds below!

Did you have a good time on the dance floor? I did.   Next stop… your place!  What key songs are instrumental in your life?

Be sure to come back next week to dance freebie style with the 4M crew, and if you can’t get enough music, then join me for Saturday Song-suasion!
