SWF: Howard H. Baker Jr, Federal Courthouse (Knoxville, TN)

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

It’s Friday! And…it’s a holiday weekend to boot. Whoo-hoo! I am so looking forward to a little relaxing with my DH. I wonder what we can get ourselves into this long weekend? Hmmm, I’ll have to ponder on those thoughts for a moment. Meanwhile, it’s time to visit fellow shutterbug enthusiasts around the globe for Skywatch Friday.

I know this building by Whittle Communications in downtown Knoxville. Today, it’s called the Howard H. Baker, Jr. Federal Courthouse. I love the feel of the architecture with the clock tower and all. It’s not an old building. In fact, it was built in the mid-80s by publishing mogul Chris Whittle. I was not only drawn to the building but how gorgeous the sky appeared behind it. I couldn’t help, but think this is my SWF photo! 😀

From my vantage point in shooting the Spanish War Veteran Statue situated on the grounds of the old courthouse, I noticed the First Tennessee bank building captures the BB&T reflection that sits next door. This makes it a perfect candidate for Weekend Reflections.

Weekend #photo contributions

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

It’s Friday, my lovelies! Thank you for including me in your morning visits. Per my promise from last week, I want to share with you this photo taken at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in Corbin, Kentucky.

Linking with photographers across the globe in Skywatch Friday. For more Cumberland Falls images, click here.

The weekend hosts several fun photography memes. I find it difficult to dedicate a single post to each one. That being said, I decided to pull them all-in-one post. I hope you enjoy the photo share. 😉

Same image, as above. Applied B&W effect to photo to share with other B&W weekend participators.

Flashback Friday photo of me at age 2 or 3. I remember thinking I was all alone in this picture, but someone had to be there to capture the moment. lol

Childhood photos make me think of my own children. I call these next two photos, Child’s Play.

Which micro shot do you like the best? I can’t decide.

SWF: Cumberland Gap National Historical Park

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Last Saturday’s outing took us north just across the Tennessee state line into southern Kentucky.

We had gorgeous skies overhead and scorching summer temperatures, but we enjoyed the day of leisure.

At the end of Pinnacle Road, the park has an extended observation deck for visitors to enjoy a spectacular view of the valley.

Here is the same image, as the previous zooming in on Fern Lake in the distance.

I took this macro shot in front of the Visitor’s Center and although the flowers were past peak, it was still a pleasure to capture. Sharing with other i heart macro photographers!

We want to plan a return trip this fall with the promise of a tamer forecast to enjoy outdoor activities.

SWF: Big Ridge State Park

This week’s Skywatch Friday contribution, Big Ridge State Park in Tennessee

In the above picture, you can see a body of water in the background. This is Big Ridge Lake in Big Ridge State Park north of Knoxville about 30-minutes. Many of the roads were off-limits to public access, so I couldn’t get the photograph I wanted.

In the fall, I want to return to Big Ridge when it’s less crowded so we can walk out some of the closed off roads for a photo session. It was horribly hot over the long 4th of July weekend and although I would love to beat the heat in the water, you won’t find me in a lake. It looks inviting, but not enough to persuade this kitten to take a deep in untreated water.

I know you’re laughing your socks off at me and that’s okay. I’m good being the odd ball. What ever keeps ya happy and helps you to sleep better at night, I say.

I snapped this lovely little jewel in June.

SWF: Norris Lake in Tennessee

Greetings, my lovelies! While taking a break from Blogosphere in June, I did not put my camera down. In fact, I looked for opportunities to use. These photos I feel represent what many will be doing this weekend, spending time on the lake or at least by the water.

The tree along the shore with it’s gnarling roots captured my eye. The passing motorcraft was a bonus.

DSC_3418

The clouds were particularly fascinating above the water, but I like how the land juts out like a tiny peninsula behind the ski boat.

Keep cool, enjoy time with family & friends, and be safe.
