Skywatch Friday Painted Sky

This week has been gorgeous, kittens and dawgs! In fact, it’s been so NICE that I found myself outdoors a lot and once again I neglected my responsibilities in Blogosphere. Shame on Cathy!

You’re the best and I know you can’t fault me for taking advantage of soaking up a little sunshine. Today, I’m borrowing from my archives and am sharing another beautiful sunset.

I couldn’t resist using the same image in Brustrokes. I REALLY like this cool app! Now I can say, here’s a painted sky. lol

I’m sharing my photo-art with the SWF team and s-A(R)T-urday.  Now, I’m joining Lexa in Celebrate the small things.

I’m celebrating…

  • the return of spring-like weather. Nature might be teasing us, but I’m so lovin’ it!
  • the return of DST. YAY! I’ve already notice the daylight extending a little each day, so the time change will be a nice boost. I wish it was always on DST, don’t you?
  • finding out when I went for my quarterly Sotopelle insert (Hormone Replacement Therapy) appointment that I had a ninety dollar credit on my account. 🙂
  • getting my HRT taken care of. I really needed the boost to ease pesky menopause symptoms.

What are you celebrating?

Join the party below!

Let’s begin celebrating with Friendship Friday and Friday Features linky parties where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration!

I am participating in the A-Z April blog challenge. Starting next week running through the end of April this regularly hop will double with my mid-week post. That’s a wrap for now, but if you like music then I invite you to come back for Monday’s Music Moves Me.  Until next time, have a fototastic weekend!

Skywatch Friday: Sun setting at Fort Loudon Lake

Hello kittens and dawgs! Is it Friday again so soon? Yep, the weekend is here. Not only is it Friday, but it’s the last Friday in this month. Time isn’t missing a beat, ticking by faster than I care to admit.

Who needs some sunny, blue skies? I see those hands going up, including my own. Today’s SWF contribution is another revisit from my photo archives and coincidentally is another shot from Fort Loudon Lake in Farragut, Tennessee from nearly three years ago when the weather was kinder.

I didn’t do anything too fancy to this image, other than crop and add my copyright. I love how the landscape in the foreground silhouettes against the sky with the sun peeping through the branches, don’t you?

~All images captured with my big girl camera ~ Nikon D7000 & preferred lens Nikkor 18-105mm zoom, unless otherwise noted.~

I’m linking up with the SWF team and invite you to join other photo enthusiasts across the net. Next up, I’m joining Lexa in Celebrate the small things.

I celebrate…

  • the temporary warming tread we’re experiencing. I know it won’t last and it’s more of a tease than anything else. I hope February doesn’t bring harsher conditions than what we’ve had so far.
  • signing up for the April 2016 A to Z Challenge. This year I’m using the blog code PR for personal. In the past I’ve used music and photography, but with things up in the air I decided to go the conservative route. I have a theme in mind and plan to get as many post completed ahead. This really makes a huge difference on how well I enjoy my participation.
  • finally kicking myself in gear to take part in survey and website testing sites to earn a little pocket change.
  • monetizing my blog with affiliate links. These things I either use or feel good to share with you. Our family finances need all the help we can get with DH out of work.

Life should be celebrated, even when it seems like you have no reason to celebrate. Just look around, I bet you’ll see something good! What are you celebrating?

How do you feel about sites with ads?

Join the party below!

One way to celebrate is with  Friendship Friday and Friday Features Linky Party, where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration to boot!

That’s a wrap for now, but if you like music then I invite you to come back Monday for a two for all special with my newest edition of Battle of the Bands and I’ll be hitting the dance floor with the lovely Monday’s Music Moves Me crew, too. I know you don’t want to miss out on all that fun, right?

Thanks for visiting. Have a good weekend. Have a fototastic day!

WW: Ducks

I find myself pulling photos from my archives lately. I hope you don’t mind looking at these pictures…

Taking to water at Fort Loudon Lake in Farragut, TN is a Skywatch Friday contribution. (Nikon D7000 with attached Nikkor 18-105mm lens)

Like ducks in a row, these geese follow in single file across the water on Fort Loudon Lake in Farragut, TN (Nikon D7000 with attached Nikkor 18-105mm lens)

I took the above pictures in July not long after DH bought me my big girl camera.  We went back in November of that year but now the daylight hours shorter and I captured the resident ducks and geese once more.

The loner…to make this little guy standout, I applied “tilt shift” effect in Fotor. Nikon D7000 with attached Nikkor zoom lens (18mm-105mm)

Looking for a handout…In this image, the people dominated the picture. I applied the “tilt shift” effect in Fotor on the ducks making the people almost anonymous. Nikon D7000 with attached Nikkor zoom lens (18mm-105mm)

This is a pretty spot to take a walk, picnic, swim, feed the ducks, or photograph. Thank you for making me apart of your day. Please leave your comments footprints so that I know you came and I will hop over to your place soon. Next week, I will share some new photos.  Until then, have a fototastic week!

WW: Summertime fun

Summertime fun contribution joins Skywatch Friday photo enthusiasts from around the world.  (Nikon D7000 with attached 18-105mm Nikkor lens)

I captured this image in July 2012 after I got my big girl camera. I altered the photo using Fotor editor applying the horizontal tilt-shift effect taking the eye to the kayaks across the water.

Another of my firsts is this close up shot….

Skywatch, Sillies, and Fill-ins Fun

Skywatch Friday contribution

Fort Loudon Lake in Concord, Tennessee just outside of Knoxville on the west side. Skywatch Friday contribution

I captured this gorgeous East Tennessee sunset with my big girl camera in November 2012. This is a late fall sunset but looking at the sun’s glow in this image warms me.

It’s time for a dose of humor. Louis la Vache’s @Friday Funnies made me laugh recently and I want to make you laugh, too.

The below video should be called, Why people from India can’t rob a bank, but regardless what it’s called it deserves to be shared with you.

A friend sent an email chockfull of crazy headlines. Here is a sample of just a few…

Finishing things up today, here’s my response to Hilary’s Follow Friday Four Fill-In Fun statements.

  1. Tomorrow is World Thinking Day did you know such a national day existed? Not me! To learn more, click here.
  2. I really think I need a real get-away vacation to someplace very special! Say…Bar Harbor, Maine, but not this time of the year.
  3. I would never own a fur coat of any kind. I think they are beautiful, but I can’t stand the smell of animal fur or for that matter tanned leather apparel.
  4. The craziest gift I ever got was an under pillow stereo speaker. DH got me this for our first Christmas when we were dating. It wasn’t crazy, but the build up was. I asked for a hint and this is what he told me, your present is 20-feet long.  I actually loved the under pillow stereo speaker. It was just what I needed to listen to music at night to help me fall asleep without bothering anyone else. He is a creative gift-giver!

Keep smiling and a have laughtastic weekend!

Silhouette Blues & More Fort Loudon Lake Pix With Everybody

“SILHOUETTE BLUES” I used FotoFlexer photo editing resource to adjusted contrast and applied tint feature in the above photo.

Here’s the same picture with a different technique, giving me a highly contrasted black & white version. Each photo awakens different sensations. I like both. Do you prefer one over the other?

Adjusted contrast and applied grayscale feature in FotorFlexer to intensify dark shadowy contrast effect.

Blue Hue Lake Vue Adjusted hue and applied full grain effect in FotorFlexer

Changing from color to grayscale while adjusting contrast levels in FotorFlexer to create a dramatic B&W silhouette

“SUNSET ON THE WATER” enhanced color saturation in FotoFlexer.
