Pave Maijanen

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good morning, kittens & dawgs!  I am considering placing this segment on hold in February. It’s getting to be a bit too much to juggle the Saturday post. I thinking about moving my Saturday mewsic to a weekday under a new meme name.  Anywho, this is the last Saturday of January and with it, I will end my Finish mewsic bands with Pave Maijanen!

At the age of 6, Pave shown an in mewsic when learned how to play the harmonica.  He began his career in the 60s and played with several bands with his most popular known is Mielikummitus, the background band of singer Kristian.

Pave’s first solo single in 1975 was is guitar jazz  Fever cover song launching a new band for him that he called, “Pave’s Mistakes” which recorded two albums.  The second, Pidä huolta, Pave composed and interrupted his first Finish recording. The title song on the album became one of his best hits in 1981.

The 80s were Pave’s best years. Things went south when the decade flipped. However, by the end of the 90s, Pave was in the limelight again with “Mestarit Areenalia”, other than him, the mewsic group comprised Kirka, Hector, and Pepe Willberg. They sold out the Finnish ice hockey halls and Pavel also pulled together a concert by him at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium making him the first Finnish artist to ever do so.

What did you think of this artist?  I hope you’ll tweet the mews to your friends, inviting them to check out his mewsic.

That’s a wrap for this week. I’ll close by leaving you with Pave’s YouTube Top Tracks playlist to enjoy.

Where is My Sweetie Jenni Vartiainen

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! These past two Saturdays I featured mewsic talent from Finland. Today I continue the trend with a female pop recording artist.  Jenni Vartiainen.

Prior to Jenni’s singing career, she was a figure skater in her teens and after winning the talent show Popstars in 2002, she joined a girl band who called themselves, Gimmel. Once the group broke up, Jenni embarked a solo career.  Selling more than 330K records, Jenni is regarded as one of the 50 best selling Finnish artists of all time.

At night I went again to sleep to the balcony,
So he would be closer to me
I saw the sky from my bed, I began to wait,
That I could see a star flying
They say: if you notice somewhere a falling star
Then you can wish for anything you want
For the night sky I whispered a request:
I hope it could wind soon
Ref.
Wind, wind there where’s my sweetie
Play with his hair for a while
Tell him that I love, that I miss
Tell him that I’m still waiting for him
Yesterday the night was calm
but then
wind breathed and I got the feeling
That someone moved near to me
Touched my cheek
I felt the known hand on my skin
I didn’t suspect anymore
I knew that I can
Fall asleep like a little child
We breath the same air
And we have the same ground under our feet
Ref.
Wind, wind there where’s my sweetie
Play with his hair for a while
Tell him that I love, that I miss
Tell him that I’m still waiting for him

English lyrics for Ihmisten edessä

 English lyrics for Duran Duran

English lyrics for Minä ja hän

The site where I got the English translated lyrics from above have several song titles and most have accompanying YouTube mewsic videos. My favorite song featured today is “Missä muruseni on (Where is my Sweetie?)”  I really wanted to buy it from iTunes but sadly she has only one song listed which I did not share. 🙁

You can follow Jenni on Twitter & Facebook.

What did you think of today’s mewsic? If you liked, then share your discovery with your friends! 😉

Finish symphonic metal band Nightwish

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good morning, kittens & dawgs!  I’m on a new kick in mewsic taking a look at international groups and artists for a change.  I’m not sure how long this series will continue but for now enjoy the ride with the symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland…

Here’s what Wikipedia says…

Although Nightwish have been prominent in their home country since Angels Fall First, they did not achieve worldwide fame until the release of the albums Oceanborn (1998), Wishmaster (2000) and Century Child (2002). Their 2004 album, Once, has sold more than one million copies[2] and was the band’s breakthrough in the United States. Their biggest US hit single, “Wish I Had an Angel” (2004), received MTV airplay and was included on three US film soundtracks to promote their North American tour.

Let’s kick this Saturday morning with Nightwish’s first US hit, Wish I Had An Angel!

The next two pieces of mewsic can be found on their 2015 Endless Forms Most Beautiful album.

The third song choice recorded by today’s featured group is from their 2007 Dark Passion Play album.

The last song featured today is the theme song for the 2007 Finnish movie, Lieksa.

Finish pop artist – Anna Eriksson!

Good morning, kittens & dawgs!  I’m taking a new direction with my mewsic listening and I hope you enjoy the change.  Let’s broaden our mewsic listening pleasures for a taste from Finland as I present to you, Anna Eriksson!

Listen to the entire playlist while you do other things and you can subscribe to Anna’s YouTube channel to stay connected.

Anna has a beautiful voice, doesn’t she? There’s something special about foreign mewsic and enjoy listening to her songs in her native language.  After digging around I finally found Anna on Facebook where I found two lovely mewsic videos.

She does an equally lovely job in English, doesn’t she?

I invite you to tweet the mews, if you enjoyed today’s mewsic with your friends.

Finnish Style Music on 4M

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me 112th edition!

Chronicles From the Man Cave submitted this week’s theme: “International Music”.  I’m totally clueless about the music outside the United States. That being said, I decided to feature only one country’s music – Finland. In honor of my sweet Finnish friend, Sini. Come dance with me!

Finland is “the land of a thousand lakes”. The video below highlights the city where my friend lives…

Most, if not all the lyrics are in Finnish, but the overturn of the songs were very nice. Music bridges all languages by the way it stirs your heart and soul. I hope you enjoy these selections, as much I did the first go around.

Kiitos, että liityit meihin!

(Thank you for joining us!)

Are you ready to get dancing this week? Here’s what you do….

  • Go to YouTube insert your music video of choice.
  • Grab the “Monday’s Music Moves Me” Button.
  • Link your 4M below, follow us, & leave a comment.

Hostess of this party:

Our spotlight dancer tops the linky line up in the number one spot – Congratulations, my friend!

Don’t forget to show our featured dancer some love and go ahead, shake your bootie with any of the fellow rockin’ bloggers below…

Now, don’t contain your electric experience, shout it from the tree tops to all of your musical friends to come join the party each week. Next stop… your place!  What music is moving you?

Do you have that good ole fashion dance fever? Then, continue the party with…
