#SWF: Grist Mill at Cades Cove

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! I’m happy that you decided to join me for this week’s edition of Skywatch Friday.  Skywatch Friday is a global network  of photographers sharing images from a skyward perspective and although my photo does not capture much of the heavens, I very much like it all the same.

I took the above photo while on hiatus a few weeks ago. I love how the large maple frames the photo, don’t you? The sky is slightly visible above the old Grist Mill between the trees. It rained earlier that morning and the clouds hung over our head all day. The Grist Mill is operational, the best of my knowledge but it wasn’t open when we were there. The nearby visitors center sells fresh ground corn meal from the mill. Life in this quaint pioneer community was difficult and one I really wouldn’t want to live, but it’s fun to fantasize about those times all the same. Would you be happy living in a world without the conveniences you’ve come to enjoy?

Thank you for making me apart of your day.  Until we meet on the other side of the lens next, have a foto-tastic day!

Whew, I didn’t EVER think this week would come to an end! I guess that’s what happens after one has been lazying around (not really) while taking a blogging break, eh? lol The truth is, I miss DH. We had a blast spending time together. He’s my best friend and I’m his BF. But, you’re not here to hear this drippy sappy stuff, huh? Instead you wanna check out my Skywatch Friday contribution! #WW: Flowers in a jar

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! If you haven’t heard the news I’m back from my long blogging break. Although, I was unplugged from the net, I found it difficult to unplug myself from one of my favorite pastimes ~ photography.

On one of our adventures to the mountains in the early morning hours, we enjoyed the stunning beauty of the Appalachian mountains from a campground off the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I snapped frame after frame in order to preserve at least one good shot of that morning, as I pulled away just to awe I noticed this bit of quaintness. #WW Autumn splendor and surprise

Something came up, like getting time to spend with my DH for another week, so I won’t be in Blogosphere this week. . A few more days unplugged from the net will do this gal good.  You ought to try it!

Do you remember Price Lake on the Blue Ridge Parkway? While enjoying time with DH this month, I photographed it again. The fall foliage was more glorious than before! Here’s a picture from a different vantage point. One minute, I’m snapping away at this….

DSC_3973and just as I turned around to get in the car this is what I see. My husband shouting, “Shoot! Shoot, now!”

DSC_3977What a nice surprise! I’m not an action photographer. I think I was a little stunned, as a blend of excitement and panic set in. In rapid session I fired three or four shots. I was thinking, if I get one picture that isn’t blurry I’d be a happy girl (as it turned out I got two that weren’t bad), but the sense that griped me as we pulled away was the thrill of the experience. Now, that was a lot of fun!

Sending a round of applauds and cheers to this week’s featured photographer…

SWF: Fall afternoon sky over Knoxville

Last fall, while DH & I took a little vacation time spent around town I captured this beautiful image on a glorious peaceful, October afternoon. I love the vivid blue sky and how the sunlight reflects off the tall amber grass. If  you look close enough, you can see the wind blow….

Prior to getting my upgrade to the 5s, I snapped this photo with my old iPhone4. Despite it being a dinosaur in cell phone technology, the photo processor in it was fabulous! Linking up with photographers across the globe in Skywatch Friday.

Do you feel it? I can!

This is the last Friday in September. The next time we meet it’ll be a brand new month, which means I plan to take a little break in October from blogging. I have scheduled posts in advanced and I may or may not drop in. My goal is to stay unplugged, but I will return visits in short order. Everyone needs a break or two each year, don’t you agree? Thank you for making me apart of your day.  Have a foto-tastic day!

How are things shaping in your sky view this week?
