Autumn rain, Dark Shadows, DWTS, Blue Bell ice cream

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good-morning, Kittens and Dawgs! Are you having your morning coffee?  I’m on cup #2 and heading to get cup three. Coffee is good for you, didn’t you hear?

Autumn’s presence is making her mark gradually.  There’s a slight change in the leaves color, mostly due to dry conditions and the last hurricane system out of Mexico hit us Sunday.  We got lots and lots of rain. The heavy storms caused the changing leaves in our backyard to fall off but I’m hopeful if we get enough rain that the remaining will give us pretty colors. *cross fingers*  If you want to listen to more Autumn inspired mewsic then check out yesterday’s post. 😉

Speaking of which, I heard some wonderful mewsic on the dance floor. Michele from Angels Bark introduced to me the Swedish heavy metal band Lake of Tears. This isn’t my normal mewsical genre but I really liked the song with the same name as their 1999 album, So Fell the Autumn Rain.  I think it’s the opening violin that appeals to my ear then the bleed in with a contrast rock blend captured my interest to hear more and so from that album here are my favorites. Enjoy!

What did you think of Lake of Tears? Michele shared an amazing Autumn playlist yesterday and you’re invited to stop by boogie with her!

Are y’all getting lots of rain? What songs make you think of autumn?

Let me turn my thoughts to random TV talk. In 2012, I told y’all I started watching the vintage TV soap, Dark Shadows, on Netflix. What I didn’t realize is they did not have the complete series available for streaming. Luckily, Amazon Prime now has what I think is all episodes and a few movies.  I found an interesting article online, 9 Terrifying Amusing Facts About ‘Dark Shadows’ that I wanted to share with fans of the show. I thought it was amusing to read the factoids and now I understand why the acting wasn’t the best. It’s interesting I never noticed the fumbled lines and production glitches as a kid that I pick up on now but still it’s a lot of fun to watch!

Are you a fan of Dark Shadows? Would you like to see a remake of the show?

Years ago, we began watching Dancing With The Stars (DWTS). It became a routine thing to do with the family. This was before streaming. We either locked in the time to do it or recorded the episodes.

GOOD MORNING AMERICA – The cast of Season 25 of “Dancing with the Stars,” are announced live on “Good Morning America,” Wednesday, September 6, 2017 on the ABC Television Network.   DEBBIE GIBSON, ALAN BERSTEN, EMMA SLATER, DREW SCOTT, LINDSEY STIRLING, MARK BALLAS, DEREK FISHER, SHARNA BURGESS, NIKKI BELLA, BARBARA CORCORAN, ARTEM CHIGVINTSEV, KEO MOTSEPE, TERRELL OWENS, CHERYL BURKE (Photo by Lou Rocco/ABC via Getty Images)

We continue to watch the show and image my suprise to find the return of DWTS two weeks into the season! These days, we do not watch aired programmed TV shows, but instead stream the episodes the following day at a time that’s convenient. We’re still playing catch up so if you’re watching the program please no spoilers. Anywho, I will tell my favorite celebrity dancer is YouTube sensation, Lindsey Stirling partnered with pro dancer, Mark Ballas. I think she could win the Mirror Ball trophy. She’s awesome!

If you wish to fast forward all the fluff to see her dance with mark, then feel free to jump to the 1:44 mark to watch.

Do you watch DWTS? If so, who’s your favorite celebrity?

Although many of the new shows have kicked off, I’m always reminded of ones we started and because we do not watch programmed TV, then we need to resume some of last year’s favorites like Designated Survivor season 2 on ABC (began September 27th) and Lethal Weapon season 2 on the FOX network (premiered September 26th). A third show I’m looking forward to but won’t be back until next September is the Breaking Bad spin-off Better Cal Sal.  What a disappointment to learn of the show’s delay! I reckon executives didn’t know if they wanted to continue the series but I’m happy that they are going to run with it for a 4th season. Speaking of Breaking Bad, we have yet to finish that series, maybe we can do that now.

Now that I do not have any restriction on what I can eat since my oral surgery at the end of August, I finally got to have a bowl of my favorite Blue Bell ice cream flavor – Rocky Mountain Road.

The rich chocolate ice cream goodies combined with dark chocolate covered peanuts, milk chocolate covered pecans, white chocolate covered almonds, and roasted walnuts with swirls of marshmallow cream is some out of this world goodness! Well…it used to be. *sigh* It’s still good don’t get me wrong but they’ve changed it. The marshmallo cream is too sweet, the ice cream is kinda gooy, and it seems they’ve cut back on the nuts.  I plan to contact Blue Bell later today to let them know that we do not like the change and hope they return to the recipe that we love!

Are you an ice cream fan? What’s your favorite flavor and brand? Can you eat year-round?

That’s a wrap for this morning. I’m taking a coffee break with Stacy, Les, and Amber, just click buttons above, to come with and if not, I hope you’ll stop by tomorrow for not-so Wordless Wednesday.

#SaturdaySongsuasion presents #OfficialAdele!

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

I attribute my edition of Saturday Songsuasion to watching Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) earlier in the week.

Rumor Willis. Has. It.  Her natural talent sizzled on the dance floor (a little of her mama shined through in her moves) this past Monday of DWTS while doing the Cha-Cha with her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy to this 2011 Billboard Hot 100 hit.

The uniqueness of this singer’s vocals really need no introduction with this bluesy-pop stomping number, but for the musically challenged (I admit I am one at times) I present to you the sensational British songwriter and singer…

Don’t Cut the Sugar!

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Don’t cut the Sugar…Sugar Ray Leonard that is!

Last night, we retired early and missed not being able to see the results of DWTS.  I was anxious to learn who would be hanging up their dance shoes this morning.  Google is my friend for all of my Internet searching.  Almost instantly, I found an article yielding the information I wanted to know.

Yesterday, I had predicted Kendra would leave the show since she was in the bottom again. This time, she squared off with Sugar to see who would stay sugar-rayin the ring or in this case on the dance floor for another week.  The Heavy Weight Champ took the final punch, knocking Sugar out for the season. I could not believe Kendra escaped being shoed off!

Goodbye Sugar, it was a sweet delight to see your eyes and smile twinkle on the dance floor.

DWTS Results

The results are in!  We have good news and some bad news.  The good news is, none of my favorites got voted off Dancing with the Stars.  I’ll have another week to enjoy seeing them perform.  The bad news is Wendy remains on the show.  Who got knocked off?

It came to no real surprise that…Mike Catherwood, Loveline Lover Boy, and mike-catherwood-dwts-300his professional dance partner, Lacey Schwimmer, got the ole boot out the door.  I was a little disappointed he got ousted so quickly.  Don’t get me wrong, he was bad.  But, how could I not like this guy?  I mean his display of spunky fun energy on the dance floor made it all worth watching him.  I’d never heard of him before DWTS introduced him to me, but his personality really shined.  It was fun while it lasted, Mike.  Good-luck!

Yesterday I had gone nearly AWOL in Blogville.  DH was home sick, so my attention was mostly on him.  Don’t worry, he’s better today and back at work.

I didn’t get to play my memes yesterday, but I plan to make up today for yesterday’s loss.  Here’s a cool meme, if you’re wanting to connect with other gals for weight loss support.  It’s simply fun and encouraging just link up below.

This week’ Patrice asks…

1. Is there something that triggers too much snacking for you?  Usually, boredom or stress causes me to eat more than I should.  The sad thing about it is I know I shouldn’t do it and I cave into those moments.

2. What kind of music do you like while you’re exercising?  Since I’ve been riding my stationary bike, then I mainly watch TV while I pedal away.  If I use an aerobic video then whatever music they use is what I listen to.  However, if I’m doing chores then I love dancing through the house to any number of my classic rock n’ roll CDs.

3. What’s your favorite thing about spring?  How can I pick just one thing about spring which is my favorite? I can’t! I love the days growing longer little by little and the vibrant colors that brighten up the earth. I love the warmth of the sunshine touching my face and the gentle breeze kissing my skin. I love the “I’m feeling alive” sensation which bubbles up inside me.  I guess, I just simply love everything about spring!

4. Do you ever feel like you have to carefully weigh advice given in popular magazines?  Absolutely. What’s right for one person may not be right for another. We have to listen to our bodies and know what’s best for our needs. We all aren’t alike. Practice common sense medicine in health related matters is always a good rule of thumb.

5. If you could invite 5 people you do not regularly see to visit with you, On a porch while drinking tea or coffee, who would they be?  It would be difficult for me to narrow it down to 5 people.  I’d say I would need to expand to a full-blown tea party in my yard.

Before I close, here are some more memes I’ll be hopping over to connect with….
