Skywatch Friday Smoke on the mountains

On Wednesday I shared photos taken the day I captured today’s sky view.

The early morning clouds rest between peaks giving the illusion that there’s smoke on the mountains. This is how the Smoky Mountains came to inherit its name. Shot captured from Clingmans Dome parking.

It’s time for Celebrate the small things.

I celebrate…

  • getting the car battery and engine debris shield replaced at the dealership with minimal cost.
  • sketching a Minion b-day card for our SIL (see below) and hand-stamping Christmas cards finished.
  • holiday preparation and general baking which I find relaxing.
  • more creative DIY projects in the works with excitement to try my hand at making springerle cookies. I hope to pull together a post in December on this baking artwork!
  • having a few days of beautiful weather this week because the forecast is calling for a cold weekend. The good news is it will be a nice time to do a little baking. 🙂

Life should be celebrated, even when it seems like you have no reason to celebrate. Look around, I bet you’ll see something good in your life! What are you celebrating?

One way to celebrate is with  Friendship Friday and Friday Features Linky Party, where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration to boot!

That’s a wrap for now. I am taking Thanksgiving week off;  I’ll be back December 1st for BoTB and I hope you can join me. May you and your family have a joyous time celebrating life’s bounty around the table. Until we meet on the other side of the lens, have a fototastic day!

#ComeBackToBed #TrentTomlinson

I’m still on my country music roll, kittens and dawg. I just can’t seem to shake it, but the picks that stick in my head are the ones that really put a groove in my soul.

Let me say something, unless a country artist has a ginormous name in the industry then chances are very good I won’t recognize newer talent. It doesn’t always mean I haven’t heard their music. It’s just I never paid attention before now and since I’m listening to iTunes Country station A LOT lately, then I’m taking note of the songs/artists I like.

For the most this morning’s artist has more old country twang to suit my taste, but he has a single that plays often that I really enjoy and that’s the purpose behind Saturday Songsuasion to share the new-to-me with you. Why not give a listen to Trent Tomlinson 2014 release Come Back To Bed.

It’s a good beat I won’t buy an entire Trent Tomlinson album, but THIS song? Yep, it has that taste of country rock making it a winner with this gal! How about with you, is it a winner?

What songsuasion is moving you?

Linking with Claudia for #s-ART-urday with Project 10! My photo-art creation is a mesh up of three original photos and the use of a Creative Market Anton Wicked Watercolor Area3 brush which was offered as a freebie recently. The short poetry piece is an original work, too. My inspiration for the boats in the sky comes from a photo DH did years ago of a double exposure of boats in the sky and I believe he took a picture at the same spot or very close to where I capture my own image of the boats.

That’s a wrap for this week. I hope you enjoyed your visit and I appreciate you including me in your weekend. Feel free to invite your friends to stop in for a listen. It’s a great feeling to share! What’s next? How about a little Monday Mewzik & Mewzings

#SWF: Clouds on the mountains

In case you missed the news, I’m taking a wee break this month. I scheduled my photo posts ahead with the anticipation that you would stop by. Today’s Skywatch Friday contribution is a view from Mt. Michell State Park with clouds on the mountains of North Carolina.

A view from Mt. Mitchell State Park just off the Blue Ridge Parkway.

#SWF: Walking in the clouds

In case you missed the news, I’m taking a wee break this month. I scheduled my photo posts ahead with the anticipation that you would stop by. Today’s Skywatch Friday contribution is snapped from the parking lot at Mt. Mitchell State Park off the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Clouds hung over head most of the day. By the time we got here the sun was peaking through. What made this moment special is the low lying clouds rolling in and the light cloud mist caressing my skin.  Do you like walking through the clouds? This was truly a tricky photo to get. My camera meter over-exposed the image and I just couldn’t seem to get what I was after, but later at home while viewing this picture on the computer I decided that I like the washed out appearance. What do you think?

Let me say, Thank you for making me apart of your day and although, I’m unplugged I will return visits to anyone who leaves a comment.  Until we meet on the other side of the lens next, have a fototastic day!

Rain drops keep falling on my head

This image, I took with my iPhone with the car in motion at 70mph.  Captivated by the clouds, I knew before I snapped the shot I would change photo-edit the picture.

Here is the same picture that I tweaked a bit using Befunky.

The clouds eventually yielded rain that Sunday afternoon, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. We were in the company of good friends in their paradise home. However, it looks like today will bring dark skies and rain clouds, which makes me wanna sing….

Like BJ Thomas said, rain drops greet me they won’t defeat me will be my motivation as I do my mid-week hop.

Here comes the sun & Rain clouds Photo Op – The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Photo “Here comes the sun” captured with my iPhone.
Unedited image – only added copyright using FotoFlexer –

Last Tuesday morning, I woke to heavy rain fall. It so happened it was also trash pickup on our street. This job had to be done because I missed the previous week and our bins were in need of being emptied. I resolved to take it down rain or not. Luckily, I caught a break as the rain dissipated. The clouds were giving way to blue skies as I began my haul to the curb, but without first seizing the above photo-op.

Same as above, used Picmonkey’s Winterland theme “Chill”  effect

By Friday, March swept in like a lion with winter’s nip biting and snow showers. No accumulation, but my mind was ever so on spring’s arrival. Let’s hope that lion goes to sleep soon in our own backyard!
