HS Days One-Hit Wonders #4M & Grateful for ALL Things Quote #Sparks

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good morning, Kittens and Dawgs! I’m taking life easy in Blogosphere. The holidays are fast approaching and instead of getting stressed about this or that, I’m just going with the flow. Our mewsic theme this week is “One-Hit Wonders from Your High School Days” submitted by today’s Spotlight Dancer, Vandy J from The Testosterone Three and Me. Very cool theme I might say, not that I’m doing a series on this subject or anything. 😉

I graduated in 1980, so my high school years spanned the late 70s. This is currently the decade I’m working on with my #1 One-Hit Wonders series, so I thought I’d pick those one-hit wonders that were a little less known to me, such as my opening song “It Must Be Love” by Alton McClain & Destiny peaking #32 on June 9, 1979 which coincidentally is our wedding date. Yeah, I was a child bride and you can read a little more about it here. Now, stroll down memory lane with my high school years one-hit wonders playlist!

  1. Summer 1976, “Save Your Kisses For Me” Brotherhood of Man, peaked #27
  2. Fall 1977 “Smoke From a Distant Fire” Sanford Townsend Band, peaked #9
  3. Summer 1978 “Dance Across the Floor” Jimmy Bo Horne, peaked #38
  4. Summer 1980 “New Romance” Spider, peaked #39

Some of these one-hit wonders I remember but most I can’t say for sure, except for the #9 charting song. Okay, it’s your turn, what mewsic moves you today?

I invite you to hit the dance floor with my dance partners XmasDolly, Stacy,  & Colette!

This is a weekly hop for mewsic enthusiasts regardless if you follow our weekly theme or not if you have mewsic to share then we’re ready to dance with you. Otherwise, I ask that you do not link non-mewsic posts below to boost traffic to your site. You’re welcome to leave your URL in comments with a brief description inviting me to check it out. Thank you!

I invite you hop over to McGuffy’s Reader for more “Sparks” of inspiraiton/encouragement. Let’s make the world a better place, one person at a time beginning with #1! 😉

I pulled together a playlist of Contemporary Christian and Country Artists with songs about blessings/gratitude prior to knowing today’s mewsic theme and instead of ditching it, I decided to share it in this segment. Hey, what can I say, I love mewsic!  This is the season of reflection and a time to express gratitude for everything in you life no matter how small or how difficult because we have it better than most. We just need to open our eyes to receive the blessings in all shapes

  1. “We Are Blessed” All Sons & Daughters
  2. “I Could Not Ask For More” Sara Evans
  3. “Blessings” Laura Story
  4. “It’s a Great Day to be Alive” Travis Tritt
  5. “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” Matt Redman
  6. “But For The Grace of God” Keith Urban
  7. “Good Good Father” Chris Tomlin
  8. “Live Like You Were Dying” Tim McGraw

I’m chillaxing in Blogosphere with the upcoming holidays. There’s no need to add stress to one’s life. This is a season of blessings and good cheer, so enjoy it – live in the moment! Keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and I’ll see ya around the cyber block soon! X💋X💋, Cathy

O Little Town of Bethlehem #BOTB hit it off on #4M #Christmas #music

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! It’s that most wonderful time of the year and if you’re feeling like Scrooge then hopefully today’s music will melt your ba-hum-bug self away.

All month, the Monday’s Music Moves Me crew will dish up some of your favorite Christmas tunes to rock the season. It just so happens #BOTB & #4M are doing the bump again, so this will be a dual post. To start off the battle and the holiday mood, I decided to go with a theme within a theme with songs of Bethlehem. Of course, I will only have one song title with two artists trying to outshine the other.

Traditional Christmas songs are excellent covers for artists of all genre. Personally, my favorite sounds of Christmas music is best delivered by classic voices of yesteryear ~ Crosby, Williams, Sinatra, Cole, & Martin to name just a few. However, I decided on the contemporary Christian singer, Chris Tomlin and soft pop rocker, Sarah McLachlan to do this old-time favorite of mine, O Little Town of Bethlehem.

Which soloist does it better & why? Remember your vote decides who wins!

Okay, on behalf of the lovely Dancing Queen, Marie @XmasDolly, and her Solid Gold dancers ~ Callie @JAmericanSpice, Stacy @Stacy Uncorked, Becca @Everyday Life, & myself thank you for joining us for another week of Monday’s Music Moves Me.

Now, it’s time for you to ask us to step out on the dance floor with you. By linking your musical post (Our Hostess labels or removes non-music links) URL (not your main blog address) below you are inviting the 4M crew to boogie down to your tunes.

For all you regular 4Mers, please dance over to these fine musical buds to listen to their battling duos & vote!

Next Monday, I’ll share this week’s #BOTB winner, but don’t forget to vote! I am ready to have a merry ole good time this Christmas and I’ll be by your place soon wearing sleigh bells to see what tunes you are sharing. Put on a pot of coffee ’cause next stop… your place!  What music moves you?

Thursday Thoughts: Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace is one of the most beloved hymnals of all times and over the years various church denominations adopted it in their song books. Author John Newton of this timeless piece was not a writer, but being from the era that he was where journals and letters were often kept as a daily ritual, Newton describes a time in his life where he was that wretched soul who once was lost, but now am found.

As a Christian, I can relate to that despaired sense of being unworthy and lost for all eternity. It was like walking through endless darkness, …was blind…not knowing where to go for God’s amazing grace shined on me…but now I see… the evening of July 4, 1976.

This song speaks to my heart like no other gospel hymn. Allow me to share God’s amazing grace through music this morning.

Read the inspiration behind Chris Tomlin, singer/songwriter, rewrite of an old classic hymn and then listen below.

Isn’t this a beautiful version?

Would you like to learn more about John Newton, if so read about it, here!

*Amazing Grace is an inspired post for today’s alphabet prompt of the letter “A”, visit Miss Jenny’s classroom for more Alphabe-Thursday fun*

1. What one song speaks to your heart – religious or not?

2. Does this song mean more to you at a particular time than others? If so, tell us about the first time it kindled your heart in a special way.

BONUS: How do you feel about this linky party – should I keep it, ditch it, or it doesn’t matter?
