Hearing Trouble + Friendly Fill-ins

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Hello, Kittens & dawgs! Whoo-hoo, it’s Friday, Friday! The weekend is here at last.  For a few weeks, I’ve had a lot of trouble with my ears. I’m experiencing the whole stuffy, I can’t hear anything, will you speak louder kinda thing and it’s driving me nuts.  I’m doin’ some better but I don’t have my hearing at 100%. The good thing is I decided to use my impaired hearing for today’s inspiration to make you laugh with  Hearing Trouble humor!

Can anyone tell me who the artist is of this cartoon?

Let’s continue the fun with Friendly Fill-Ins with Annie and Ellen. Every 1FFBadgeThursday four fun and easy blank statements are posted for us to borrow, complete, and share on our site. The point is to simply have fun linking, reading, and meeting others who enjoy this sort of thing.

Here’s my response to this week’s fill-ins:

(1) My guiding word for 2017 is aspiring. While I do not want to set resolutions, I do have certain goals I’m aspiring toward.

(2) Iaeger High School/Powell High School class reunion. What’s with the two high schools you ask. I spent most of my years at IHS and when I got married the summer of 1979 I was a senior at PHS. 🙂 And, no I have not attended either class reunion.

(3) Truth be told I am superstitious about nothing. Seriously, I don’t believe in bad luck.

(4)  Lately, I have been a bit preoccupied playing with the online site AutoDesk Homestyler. This sort goes with question one because one of my goals for 2017 is to be in a new-to-me house.  It’s fun thinking about the way I would like for my new future home to look but I know if we get a house that’s on the market then chances are slim it will look like what I have in mind.  That’s okay, though.

Hopefully, by now you know I made a change to my Friday posts but if not and you’re looking for my Skywatch Friday and Celebrate the Small Things contributions, I’m now sharing those on Thursdays. Let’s begin celebrating with Friendship Friday and Friday Features linky parties where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration!

That’s a wrap for now, but if you like mewsic then I invite you to come back for Saturday Songsuasion. Until next time, have a fototastic weekend!

All Things Vintage: Snoopy and the Peanuts’ Gang Creator Charles Shultz #AprilA2Z #BoTB results

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good-morning, kittens and dawgs! First thing let me make a quick announcement. The winner of April 15th BoTB is The Mills Brothers by an overwhelming 11 to 3! Their tally included my vote. Their harmonies and rich tones transported me in time.

In today’s edition of All Things Vintage, I’m sharing with you my all-time favorite cartoon character, none other than the beloved beagle Snoopy and the Peanuts’ Gang Creator Charles Shultz!
Snoopy Stages

Charles Shultz (1922-2000) was an only child. As a child, he advanced two-half grades in school. He developed an introverted personality no doubt due to the age difference of his high school peers making him a shy and isolated teenager.

Shultz loved to draw, especially his dog Spike who did rather unusual things such as pins and tacks. He sent one of his drawings to Ripley’s Believe It or Not that published in 1937 with the caption “A hunting dog that eats pins, tacks, and razor blades…” under the pen name “Sparky” his childhood nickname.

He served in WWII for two years fighting in the infantry in Europe, then after he returned home in 1945 he became an art teacher in Minnesota. Prior to his draft, he subscribed to art correspondence classes. In the late 40s, Shultz first cartoon publications Lil’ Folks. This series was the forerunner to The Peanuts’ Gang.

Drawing inspiration from his experiences and people he knew, he created his characters. “Charlie Brown” was Charles Shultz, “Snoopy” his dog, Spike, Linus and Sherman good friends of Shultz, Peppermint Patty a cousin on his mother’s side, and the Little Red-head Girl was an art instructor he proposed who turned him down. Chaplin’s quote I used Wednesday reminds me of Shultz. He used his artist ability and humor to the truth at least in part.

Now, I wanted to share my favorite Peanuts’ gang member, Snoopy, and his many faces.

Sunday Sillies: Reminants of Halloween #humor

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

This week while watching prime TV programs had a Halloween theme, but…the commercials were promoting Christmas! Is that wacky or what? I just had to laugh at the madness of it all.  Anywho, I missed the last two weeks due to my blogging hiatus and I know everyone needs some laughs. Although, it’s November and we’re l looking forward to the next holiday, I thought I would share these last Halloween giggles.
