Mt. Mitchell State Park Visitors Center View #WW #SWF

Good morning, kittens and dawgs! We had a gorgeous day last month in the mountains while on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is the visitors center near the Mt. Mitchell State Park summit. We were on our way back down to the parkway when we saw a picture we wanted to get.

This is the view we saw that we wanted to try to capture.  I love how the wildflowers and fence frame the bottom of this shot!

I thought the hillside with its large flat boulders and low-growing shrubs in the foreground against ginormous fluffy clouds and swatches of blue sky overhead was dynamic! dsc_7062

On the other side of the boulders in the previous picture is Radio Station Road (not paved). It’s usually gated off. I walked up it and took this picture of the opposite valley looking back toward the Smoky’s.

I did a screen grab of a satellite view of the area. I placed a star where we parked our car to give you a better sense of where I snapped these pictures.

I am taking a blog hiatus beginning October 1st -17th but I do have my routine weekly posts scheduled. I will link with a few regulars, do return visits, and respond to comments. It’ll be sorta like I’m not away from Blogosphere. Meanwhile, the work continues on repairing blog posts and until I get everything tidied then I’ll continue to use today’s photo contribution as a double up with my global participation on Skywatch Friday.

Please join me for Friday Sillies and more Friday fun stuff!

Chimney Tops with low clouds & blue skies

DSC_5215 Chimney's SWF

Hello, kittens & dawgs!  I took this gorgeous view this past Monday in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The peak in the background is Chimney Tops, a very popular hiking spot in the mountains. We have not hiked the trail. We’re told it’s a fairly strenuous climb.

Fall is making its presence known gently with slight foliage change and nippier a.m. temps. In this shot the colors are beginning to show and I think by early next week the change will be much more visible

Has fall made its way in your area?

It’s been awhile, since I’ve joined the Celebrate the small things meme and I thought I’d do so today.

  • I celebrate being approved for the drug assistance program, since we have no insurance due DH’s job loss.
  • I celebrate the change in seasons. Fall is my favorite!
  • I celebrate my weight loss success.
  • I celebrate that my blog is back up after nearly being down a week. 😀
  • I celebrate spending time with DH.

Life should be celebrated, even when it seems like you have no reason to celebrate. Just look around, I bet you’ll see something good! What are you celebrating?

Let’s celebrate making new friends together. We can begin by joining Friendship Friday and Follow Who? Social-Weekend blog hops.

That’s a wrap this time. Thanks for stopping by.  Until we meet on the other side of the lens next, have a foto-tastic day!

I Can See Clearly #WW

Hello kittens & dawgs! June through August are slow months in Blogosphere, so I decided to halt my Featured Photographer spotlight. Also, I am scaling back on my blogging production this summer. I am not taking a complete break yet. That may come later in the summer, but for now I’m casually visiting other blog sites ~ reading posts & leaving comments and putting together short posts. This is my time to relax. I can see clearly now!

I’m debating on whether or not to keep the linky going this summer. What do you think, should I keep it or let it go?

Thank you for stopping by, I’ll be seeing you soon!

Have a fototastic day!
