Newcomer meets 80s POP star in #BOTB showdown

Good morning, kittens and dawgs! September is half over. I don’t know where the time is going. I barely can figure out one BoTB before the next one starts. Unlike, some fellow BoTBers I do not plan nor do my posts follow a pattern.  I’m a fly by the seat kind of gal when it comes to blogging. No, really I am just that spontaneous when it comes to what I share in my posts.

Today’s featured song rode the charts at #1 for five weeks in 1976 by the all-female group, The Emotions, that was written by Earth, Wind, and Fire band members: Al McKay and Maurice White.  Here’s the original for your listening pleasure only, which is not included in the showdown, Best of My Love!

Contender #1 is new-to-me. This group packs a lot of R&B with a touch of The Pussycat Dolls style. Please listen to La Diva!

Contender #2 needs no introduction and if she does then you’re too young to vote this round. lol Let’s give it up for the amazing Sheena Easton!

In this week’s edition of, Whatever happened to…?, I spotlighted Sheena Easton.  I was kinda inspired by her in this round of BoTB, so I fibbed just a wee bit. 😉

Voting is open to everyone visiting my site. There is no wrong vote, except if you don’t vote. You can start by telling me in comments which artist you like best and why (optional).

Who gets your vote, LaDiva or Sheena Easton?

The fun continues with more epic battles underway and I invite you to visit, Stephen (at the top of the list), if you’d like to know how this works and/or ask how to join all this madness fun!

Tell your friends to come by to get in on the action. The more the merrier!?

Thanks for joining in on the fun. Don’t forget to swing by for Friday Sillies and other Friday fun stuff. 😉  This is Curious as a Cathy signing off, “Have a bandtastic day!”

Best of My Love #BOTB showdown

Hello kittens & dawgs! Last month I paid tribute to the late great former Eagles band member, Glenn Frey. If you missed that, then you’re welcome to check it out, here.

The Eagles were an important part of my musical life beginning in my early teens then following me well into adulthood until the group broke up.

Don Henley, J.D. Souther, and the late Glenn Frey collaborated this Billboard Hot 100 and Easy Listening chart topper in 1975 and perhaps is my most memorable song by the Eagles, Best of My Love.

Don Henley of the Eagles did the lead vocals. This version is for your enjoyment, so please refrain from voting for them.

That being said, I am going with Best of My Love for this round of BoTB. If you’re new, then what this means is I will share two artists doing the same cover song, then it’s up to you tell me which one gets your vote.

My first contender brings a little island flavor to the Eagles #1 hit. Listen to Aswad to see, if his style earns your vote.

Nice job, Asward! I like it for variety, but I wouldn’t say enough to give him my vote. How about you?

Contender #2 is a legend in the music industry. The question is will his unique vocals insure a victory this round? I  give you… Mr. Rod Stewart!

For those having trouble with the video clip, I found a sample of the song on Amazon. I’m using an affiliate link —> The Best Of My Love by Rod Stewart  that you can listen to, if you wish to try to weigh your vote in on.

Everything Rod does, he does well. His rendition is closer to the original verses Asward’s version. There’s no question, Rod’s cover grabs my vote!

Who did you like best? Aswad with his touch of reggae or Stewart with his pop vibe? Please leave your answer in comments; if you have time and want to share what makes your pick the “best” of the two, then I’d love to hear about it.

I want to thank the brain child of this cool, bi-monthly meme, Fae.  The fun continues with more epic battles underway; I invite you to visit, Stephen, who manages the ever-growing list of BoTB players.

Don’t forget, the polls close midnight of the 7th and I’ll share the results of this competition next week this time, so mark your calendar and stop by to see if your pick gets named!

Thanks for joining the fun. I’m stepping on the dance floor with the 4M crew and you’re welcome to join me. This is Curious as a Cathy signing off with have a bandtastic day!
