Paper Dress #WW

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Hello kittens & dawgs! I took a kinda cool picture last year. I really meant to share it with you, but the right opportunity just didn’t present itself.  So, while I’m going through my photo archives I happened upon it again and thought, “Ok, this is the perfect time!”

Paper Dress

Displayed in a small independent clothing store in The Commons shopping plaza on North Peters Road, I spied this paper dress and couldn’t resist snapping a shot. I photo-edited the original to a B&W image and added a vignette, as well as my copyright with Pixelmator. These changes somehow suited the picture better, don’t you agree?

Original shot. No edits other than copyright added. Which picture do you like the best – this one or the photo-edited version above?

Isn’t this a fun dress? Of course, you wouldn’t catch me dead in it. With my luck, it would rain while wearing it and we know what kind of disaster that would cause, don’t we? Someone is awful creative to design and bring it together for display.

Skywatch Friday: Sun setting at Fort Loudon Lake

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Hello kittens and dawgs! Is it Friday again so soon? Yep, the weekend is here. Not only is it Friday, but it’s the last Friday in this month. Time isn’t missing a beat, ticking by faster than I care to admit.

Who needs some sunny, blue skies? I see those hands going up, including my own. Today’s SWF contribution is another revisit from my photo archives and coincidentally is another shot from Fort Loudon Lake in Farragut, Tennessee from nearly three years ago when the weather was kinder.

IMG_1843 sunset over Fort Loudon

I didn’t do anything too fancy to this image, other than crop and add my copyright. I love how the landscape in the foreground silhouettes against the sky with the sun peeping through the branches, don’t you?

~All images captured with my big girl camera ~ Nikon D7000 & preferred lens Nikkor 18-105mm zoom, unless otherwise noted.~

I’m linking up with the SWF team and invite you to join other photo enthusiasts across the net. Next up, I’m joining Lexa in Celebrate the small things.

I celebrate…

  • the temporary warming tread we’re experiencing. I know it won’t last and it’s more of a tease than anything else. I hope February doesn’t bring harsher conditions than what we’ve had so far.
  • signing up for the April 2016 A to Z Challenge. This year I’m using the blog code PR for personal. In the past I’ve used music and photography, but with things up in the air I decided to go the conservative route. I have a theme in mind and plan to get as many post completed ahead. This really makes a huge difference on how well I enjoy my participation.
  • finally kicking myself in gear to take part in survey and website testing sites to earn a little pocket change.
  • monetizing my blog with affiliate links. These things I either use or feel good to share with you. Our family finances need all the help we can get with DH out of work.

Life should be celebrated, even when it seems like you have no reason to celebrate. Just look around, I bet you’ll see something good! What are you celebrating?

How do you feel about sites with ads?

One way to celebrate is with  Friendship Friday and Friday Features Linky Party, where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration to boot!

That’s a wrap for now, but if you like music then I invite you to come back Monday for a two for all special with my newest edition of Battle of the Bands and I’ll be hitting the dance floor with the lovely Monday’s Music Moves Me crew, too. I know you don’t want to miss out on all that fun, right?

Thanks for visiting. Have a good weekend. Have a fototastic day!

Silhouette birds #WW

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

Good-evening, kittens & dawgs! This is the last week of the first month of 2016. *slap forehead* I can’t believe how fast the days evaporating, can you?

First up, I want to tell you about a cool giveaway going on, which is fixing to end on tomorrow, January 27th at 6pm UTC, for the BEST iPhone lenses in the world according to blogger pal, David Molnar. He sent me a referral link to share with my friends, here, and if you enter then I get a few extra entries.

You know the cold is keeping me indoors, but I’m trying to keep up my creative energies. I live therefore I must create. That being said, I’m reinventing archived images with various photo-editing techniques.

Bird Silhoutte

I snapped a picture of the sky with my iPhone Distressed FX App. I applied the Egart effect to the image background. The last two steps I used Pixelmator to add the silhouette (resource found on the internet) overlay and my copyright.

9 to 5 #BoTB results, Skywatch Friday, & Celebrate the small things

Good-morning, kittens and dawgs! This is gonna be a three for all special. Sometimes I just have to roll things together. Last week, I did two separate posts and had a devil of a time playing catch up all this week.

Today, I’m reporting last week’s BoTB results, where I pitted Melinda Schneider & Beccy Cole against a Knoxville gal and The Voice 2015 runner-up Emily Ann Roberts singing Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 hit. However, before I announce the outcome let me say Happy  Birthday Dolly! The mega super country star celebrated her 70th this past Wednesday.

If you’ve followed comments then you know how things played out. Poor Miss Roberts didn’t stand much of chance with the overwhelming favor for Schneider & Cole by a margin of 11 to 7.

Congratulations Melinda and Becca on your win!

Don’t forget to see how the other BoTB to see how they went down. To get a list of all the player, visit Stephen.

For this week’s Skywatch Friday feature I’m revisiting my photo archives. The cold is keeping me indoors. This leaves me with time to rediscover and reinvent old digi-files.

Fort Loudon lake Farragut, Tennessee

This is Fort Loudon lake in Farragut, Tennessee. I took this picture on a chilly winter’s day in 2013. I cheated a bit boasting the earthy tones and blues in Pixelmator. I love how the colors play together well in this image, don’t you?

I continued the fun by breathing new life into the above photo to create this watercolor image.

Waterlogue App image creation

I applied the Rainy effect from my Waterlogue App on my iPad and then used the other photo-editor, mentioned above in first image, to add my copyright info.

I celebrate…

  • the simple pleasures from the first snowfall of winter. True, I don’t like the cold weather, but I can’t resist seeing heaven’s purity descending gracefully upon us blanketing the earth in white.
  • the majesty of clear, blue skies after a snow storm. That’s the sight I woke to yesterday morning and it made me giddy.
  • the wintry storm not knocking out the power. There’s nothing like being able to keep warm when it’s so cold out.
  • my children getting home safely Wednesday evening. The roads were treacherous by the afternoon in town with accidents reported throughout the city.

Life should be celebrated, even when it seems like you have no reason to celebrate. Just look around, I bet you’ll see something good! What are you celebrating?

Flashback Winter 2013 #WW

Good morning, kittens and dawgs. We’re under a winter storm advisory with the prospect of 1-2 inches of snow. Seeing is believing in these neck of the woods, but two winters ago we did get this….DSC_1643 vibrance

Will it look like a winter wonderland today? I don’t know, but if it does then I’ll be sure to snap a few pictures to share. 😀
