#WW Morning Slice of Moon + the Mystery Blogger Award

Hello, Kittens and Dawgs, I’m still taking a break but I’m interrupting my down time to present the Mystery Blogger Award to a few of my fellow bloggers and while I’m here I decided to share a morning slice of moon take on chilly February morning. I displayed another photo taken the same day with my SWF fans.

Passed to me last month after the A to Z Challenge with the honor to receive the Mystery Blogger Award which I will now share with you the general guidelines for accepting this award.

Rule 1:  Put the award logo/image on your blog.

Rule 2:  List the rules.

Rule 3:  Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog. ✓

I’d like to a  very special thanks to Janet Miles for nominating me. You’re a peach! Now, insist you go visit her at Janet’s Smiles. 😀

Rule 4:  Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well.

This step sounds like a cool way to get extra traffic to your blog but any who I’ll play along. 😉 The mastermind behind this nifty little award is a young kitten, Okoto Enigma’s Blog who obviously is pretty smart to come up with this ingenious idea.

Rule 5:  Tell your readers three things about yourself.

The first thing you may not know about me is I bleed easily. If I get a paper cut, you’d swear I lost a finger or somethin’

Secondly, I’m beautiful! tossing hair in the wind. Wait, my hair is too short! Okay…you got me I’m beautiful on the inside (aren’t we all?) and as you guessed I’m a bit nuts.  I have a little white jacket to prove it, too. 😀

Third, I don’t know if you want to know this or not but I shave my legs every day. I can’t stand having the prickles. The good thing is keeping said routine causes the hair growth to slow down due to over shaving and if I miss a day my legs are still pretty smooth.

Rule 6:  You have to nominate 10 to 20 people.
  1. Lori from My Fragmented Journey
  2. Pam from Life Through My Eyes
  3. Amy from Amy’s Creative Pursuits
  4. Debbie from The Doglady’s Den
  5. Lisa from The Meaning of Me
  6. Ronel from Ronel the Mythmaker
  7. Mandy from Your Everyday Traveler
  8. Eli from Coach Daddy
  9. Tamara Narayan, Author
  10. Photo Art by Claudia Willison
Rule 7:  Notify them.

Rule 8:  Ask your nominee any five questions of your choice, one weird or funny question.

My questions:

  • Where’s the strangest place you been?
  • Do you have any naval fuzz or toe jam?
  • Based on your pant size, what’s your IQ? (Intelligence Guide:   0 or smaller = “dumb blonde who cares if you’re a brunette”,   2-4  = “I don’t understand the question”   6-8 = “Getting by” 1  0-12 = “Smarty Pants”   14 -up = “Extraterrestrial” or   no answer = “I’m either too embarrassed to announce to the world how little I know or I’m far too modest to boast how smart I am”?
  • What’s the dumbest thing you ever did?
  • What’s the smartest thing you’ve done?
My answers to Janet’s questions.
  1.  Who is your favorite author? Me. No, really I’m not into literature so I don’t have a favorite author. My reading is strictly blogs and other internet sources.
  2. How long have you been blogging? This June will make seven years. Can you believe it, seven years? WOW, where does the time go?
  3. Have you ever been nominated for a major award? Yeah, I’ve gotten a few of these blog awards over the years. It’s kinda cool to get them just as long as I don’t get too many of the at once because meeting the requirements can be time-consuming.
  4. If you could play a musical instrument what would it be? I took piano for a short while when I was a kid but dropped it. My heart just wasn’t into it but now I’d love to know how to play, so I’d have to say a piano.
  5.  Who is Carmen Sandiego and why should I care where in the world he is? Isn’t he a spy or something? I’m with you, why should I care who this is?  If you find a reason to care then how about sharing it with me and maybe I’ll feel the same.
  6. Extra credit question, did I make you smile today? Absolutely! Anytime a blog friend does something nice for me makes me smile. 😀
Rule 9: Add a link to my best post.

Hmm, how does one determine what her best post is? I checked my stats which shows  Friday Sillies: Babies is my most viewed post with nearly 400 visits all times and my top two posts in the past three months are #AprilA2Z Art Sketching Through the Alphabet “A” +#BoTB and #AprilA2Z Art Sketching Through the Alphabet “P”. Feel to visit any or all of my past entries!

Let me skedaddle back to my R&R but I certainly appreciate your visit and please remember to leave a breadcrumb (signature line) in comments so others can find you easier! 😉  Have a wonderful day!

Sunspiration ~ Liebster Award

It’s been some time since anyone has passed an award to me. That being said, I thought I would participate in this one just for the fun of it and to give newcomers a chance to get to know me better.

The rules are:

  • You must backlink to the person who nominated you.
  • You must answer the 11 questions given to you by the nominee before you.
  • You pick 11 nominees with under 200 followers to answer your questions.
  • You cannot nominate the person who nominated you.
  • You must tell the nominees that they are nominated by you.

If you wanna learn more about me, then stick around to read the question line up presented by my new blog bud, Farm Fresh Family, who passed this award to me. Thanks for the special honors! 😉

1. Where are you from and where do you live now? I am from southern West Virginia. After DH & I got married in 1979, we moved to Knoxville.

2. Do you have a significant other and/or children? Let’s hear about them! Yes, to my best friend. We do everything together! DH is the logical, steady-headed one. He stands to make sense that he earns his pay as an engineer, which is quite suiting to his personality. We are empty-nesters. DD#1 is divorced and has a new job, which she says that she LOVES. DD#2 is happily married for 2-years to a nice young man who we think of as a son. DS isn’t dating anyone at the moment that I know about, but then you know how boys can be. He works for a local building supply company, which he likes. Everyone is happy at the moment, so that’s reason enough to make me smile and be at peace.

3. Where do you want blogging to take you? I would love to see blogging turn into a way to earn money, but I know this sort of effect requires a lot of energy. I want my blog to be a fun experience, but if the door of opportunity opens then I will go through it without hesitation.

4. What is your all time favorite blog post that you’ve written? I don’t know that I have an all-time favorite post or not, but I am rather partial to anything that I write about Christmas. In December, I wrote for my Sunspiration post, Christian symbolism in Christmas. The one thing I hope to do in 2014 is to actually do more “real” writing while participating in my daily memes. After all, blogging is the outlet I chose in 2010 to verbally express my creativity.

5. What kind of music makes you happy? Just about all music makes me happy. I can listen to music nearly 24/7. Ever since DH converted my stereo to accept streaming content either music I uploaded to iTunes or music from the Internet. You can read how he did it, here. Speaking of music, I co-host Monday’s Music Moves Me and I would love to see you on the dance floor with me each week!

6. Are there any blogs you read regularly? What are your favorites? In my sidebar, you will find under Blog Roll several I read daily. However, it’s difficult to say which are my favorites. Each blogger has a unique writing style that I enjoy. I invite you to visit them!

7. What is your favorite outlet for social media? Twitter? Pinterest? I am not really big of the social media circuit, but I guess Facebook is overall my favorite. I get it a little better than I do Twitter or Pinterest, but I still consider myself on a learning curve with these two social media sources. Feel free to join me on any or all of these outlets!

8. Post an image that makes you smile no matter what.

Thoughts of our trip to Maine in 2004 to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary brings back fond memories and every time I look at these pictures I smile. I decided to not put up a photo at this time.

9. What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?

  • To visit the western states National Parks
  • To get into my dream house
  • To try indoor skydiving

10. If you could live in any movie, what would it be and why? I think I would like to live in Kate & Leopold simply because it’s about a love that reaches across time to unite.

11. Post a picture in which you think you look your best.

Between 2004-2007 I looked my best. Although I have a few unwanted pounds to loose I still look very much as I do in the above picture. My goal is to look like this again before summer begins. 😉

Coming up with 11 bloggers to nominate for this award is difficult. I have blogged for almost four years and everyone I deal with on a regular basis surpasses the 3rd one. But, I’ll try to come up with a few and I may need to refresh this section from time-to-time till I can get my grand total.

Here goes, I want to pass the Liebster Award to:

Gilligan and Maryanne’s Island
Retired not Tired
Julie’s Lifestyle

**be sure to check back periodically to see who gets added**
Your questions are:
  1. What’s the story behind your blog name?
  2. If you hide behind your blog name and not your real name, then tell us what it is?
  3. Why did you start your blog for family, promoting a hobby, or etc?
  4. How many posts have you written to date?
  5. Who inspires you to compose your posts?
  6. Do you post daily?
  7. How often to you join in on blog hops?
  8. Would you like more Blog/Twitter/Pinterest followers? If so, point us to the appropriate URL for each social media site.
  9. When is the best time of the day to spend blogging – reading or writing?
  10. What advice,  if any would you offer to a newbie blogger?
  11. Tell us one thing that you really want us to know about you.

I am sure to struggle with gathering the chosen few for this award. That being said, I am going to loan out these questions for anyone to snag and post. For those who qualify for the Liebster Award with 200 or fewer followers, then considered yourself nominated. Should you decide to accept the award, please follow the rules.  As for the rest of you, all I ask is in return for borrowing my questions is that you link back to me. I can’t wait to read your answers! I hope these questions give you sunspiration on your next post!

Tagged

A week or so ago, Sarah from Magnolia Surprise tagged me. I realize I’m a bit late joining in on the fun but life happens is all I can say. Now, being the sucker that I am, I’m going to play along. Isn’t that what friends are for?

Here’s what I have to do to participate in this fun

  1. Post the rules
  2. Answer the questions the tagger sent you
  3. Create 8 new questions for those you plan to tag
  4. Tag 8 bloggers (poor suckers) with a link to your post
  5. Let them know they’ve been tagged.

Rules are posted. Now to delve into the questions Sarah sent me.

If you had to quit doing what you do now, what would you do? Hmmm,  does this mean quit being a SAHM or blogging. Oh heavens! The world would stop for me, if I had to do either. Really! Is this a short or long-term thingy we’re talking about Sarah? I’m going with a temporary break and think what my tagger means is blogging. If I had to quit blogging for the moment, I’d go deep clean my son’s room. In fact, I’m doing this sorta in-between posts.

What’s your favorite junk food? I would have to say ice cream. This hasn’t always been so. If you had asked me this question a few years ago I would have said without hesitation or reservation hands down with the answer of chocolate, as in chocolate candy. Don’t get me wrong, I STILL love chocolate and usually when I have ice cream chocolate has to be part of the ingredients most of the time.

If you be an animal, which one would it be, and why? This is totally an easy answer for me. I would say I’d like to be a cat…not that my name is CAThy, but because cats have the good life, especially indoor cats. Don’t you agree? I mean, they can lay around and nap all day, if they want. They can be moody and still their owners love them. In fact, I think the moodier a cat is the more their owners love them. That’s not such a bad life now, is it?

Who is your favorite singer of all time and which song? It’s really hard for me to pick a favorite singer because of my great affection for music, but I will pick one that I love the silky smooth voice of this artist!

What was your nickname as a child? Did you like or hate it? This is embarrassing now. I mean, I don’t recall if I had a nickname or not, but ALL kids usually do, right? My childhood was only a few short years ago. Okay, so I’m stretching the truth on that score. Maybe, it has been more years than I can remember and that’s why I don’t recall a nickname. I was blond as a child. Could this account for anything? At times, I think I didn’t actually grew out of being a blond even though my hair has.

Which reality TV show do you watch without fail? (’cause I know you do…) It’s hard to think of the shows I watch as reality TV shows, but I believe they do fall into this category. My favorites are AI, America’s Got Talent, Celebrity Apprentice, & DWTS. Last night, we stumbled on DWTS. I had no idea it was back on again, but we’re simply delighted to see it has returned. This season should be interesting as they have returning stars.

Carnival rides — love ’em, or scream like a girl? I noticed you didn’t list hate ’em as one of the choices, Sarah as this would definitely would have been my answer. So, I would have to say I would “scream like a girl”. That is if I made it through the ride alive. I hate, hate, hate amusement/carnival rides period. Wait! I do like the bumper cars and carousel. =D

If there was one thing you could change about yourself, what would it be?(c’mon, fess up!) Actually, I have to things I would change if I could. After three children I would love to have my tummy flat again and I think the only way I’m going to get that look again is with a tummy tuck procedure. Pregnancy, surgeries, and age are enemies of a woman’s mid-section. Another thing is, I would like to have a breast job done. Not to be bigger or anything, just give me a bit back from my younger years or what naturally did not come to me. You know some gals just have that perky lift which passed me by through the gene pool. DH likes my breast and that’s the bottom line but if I can improve upon what I have then I would go for it.

The rules say for me to create my own 8 questions and then to tag 8 bloggers. I have learned through trial and error that tagging isn’t too favorable among my circle of blog buddies and that’s okay by me…really! So, forgive me, Sarah.  I’m going to make a slight moderation to the rules. That’s me, the ole rule breaker, right?

This is gonna be low-key to keep everyone merry today.  I promise! Below are my 8 questions. You can answer any or all of them in comments or if you want to grab the questions (would you be a peach & link back to me) to create your own Tag post then…”Tag, you’re it!”

My questions:

1. When was the last time you shaved?

2.Do you have to wax your upper lip?
3. How often do you tweeze your eyebrows?
4. What was the last thought that crossed your mind before going to sleep last night?
5. When making love, does your mind wander sometimes? If so, how do you get back on track?
6. Which do you prefer on your pie, whipped cream or ice cream?
7. Do you carry a large or small purse or somewhere in between?
8. What have you tried or watched or read lately that you would highly recommend to me?

It’s time to grab my coffee cup and head over to visit my bloggy friends for some random conversation. Feel free to tag along.

Thank-you, McGuffy Ann!

Earlier in the week, my lovely friend McGuffy Ann of  McGuffy’s Reader. honored me with Fabulous Blog Ribbon.

Allow me the pleasure of introducing you to a fellow blogger. I met McGuffy through a common meme we play on Wednesdays called  Chats on the farmhouse porch hosted by Patrice.

Some things I know about McGuffy is, she is a serious book-worm and uses her blog to feature reviews. If you’re a reading enthusiast, then you’ll want to visit McGuffy’s Reader for enticing new library selections.

Another thing about McGuffy is she LOVES animals! She’s not only the mother of three fur-babies (cats), but she’s also been involved in animal rescue over the years. In fact, she’s rescued two of her cats when they were kittens.  If you have family members who happen to be of the non-human form, then you’ll bond with her.

Finally, McGuffy is a nature lover and gentle soul, but more simply put she’s a friend. Perhaps, you’ll wanna call her friend, too. ^.^

In accepting my new award, I first need…

1. Post the Rules.

2. Name five of your most fabulous moments, either in real life or in the blogosphere.
3. Name five things you love.
4. Name five things you hate.
5. Pass the ribbon on to five other bloggersMy most fabulous moments are:

  • Marrying my high school sweetheart & best friend and having three wonderful children with him definitely ranks amongst my top fabulous moments in life.
  • Being able to stay in East Tennessee, after we thought for certain we would have to move in 2000 because of my DH’s job situation.
  • Having one of my children stories published.
  • Graduating each of our children from our home-school (2006, 2008, & 2012)
  • Last, but certainly not least paying off our house!
I love:

  • My family – husband, children, parents, siblings, … and friends: old & new, near & far, blogger or non-blogger I love you all!
  • I love living in East Tennessee – not too far north or south, just right!
  • Activities – physical and metal. Keeping both fit is a huge priority for me. We only have one life, gotta make the most of it!
  • Creating – cooking, rubber stamp art, photography,…which goes without saying I love to blog my favorite creative outlet.
  •  Lastly, early mornings. My time to do some of my favorite things in total quietness.
I hate:
  • Dieting, but I’m on a perpetual diet. Bah-hum-bug!
  • Liberal politicians stealing our money!
  • Getting older! I’m fighting it every step of the way.
  • When my favorite things disappear from stores and I’m forced to start all over again with finding a new favorite.
  •  Extreme weather!
I proudly pass the
to these fine women!
  • Les @ Time Out For Mom has the uncanny ability to use her witty experiences of everyday life as SAHM in fun, interesting posts. You’re gonna love her, I know. I do!
  • Jenny Matlock …off my tangent… who’s flair for writing is obviously expressed with great personality with every word penned, high-tech style.
  • For the gal who makes Monday’s totally rock for me, head conductor of the Love Train – Monday’s Music Moves Me, Marie @ XmasDolly.
  •  Meet a little sweetie-pie named Kayla from The Eclectic Element. She is an amazingly talented and makes lovely handcrafted jewelry.
  • A nice woman I met through Chats on the farmhouse porch is Bee’s 31 Gifts. She has another blog, I like visiting called: Mamaw’s Place. There are two special reasons why I’m fond of this lady. One, she lives right here in East Tennessee – we’re practically neighbors and two, she grew up in the same state as I did!
Ladies, you’re under no obligation to participate, do as you wish and enjoy the honor! *wink-wink*
Thank-you, McGuffy Ann for this passing this to me!

Did You Know I’m Sweet?

Sweet as sugar, right?  Okay, maybe it’s not that I’m sweet, but I’m feeling kind of sweet because someone did something very sweet for me.  Don’t you just love that warm, fuzzy sense that fills you?  I love-love-love it!

This is what happened to me, I got that all warm, fuzzy sensation tickling my whole insides.  Someone special did something very sweet for me.  Look what Marie from XmasDolly gave me…

First off, the award looks scrupulously sweet. Mmmm, strawberries! Second, I feel so honored. Me, irresistibly sweet? No, wait… not me, but my blog is irresistibly sweet, right? Aah, me equals sweet….blog equals sweet…oh well, regardless if it’s me or my blog that’s sweet, I’m privileged to receive this award.

As with anything, there is responsibility. By accepting this virtual world award, I need to follow these little guidelines.   Not to worry, these rules are very easy.  I was asked to throw out 7 random facts about myself in this blog post, and then (here is where it gets a bit tricky and I consider it to be the hardest part) pass this award on to 10 deserving bloggers. Don’t let your blog awardees stumble upon being named for this honor.  Make a point in letting them know they have been given it. Trust me, this will make their day a bit brighter and happier like it has yours hopefully. I know it put a little extra sunshine and giggles in my day.

Let the fun begin!  Here are the facts Jack (about me)…

  1. I love pretty fingernails but I have extremely fragile ones. Growing them out is tricky.
  2. I’ve been drinking coffee regularly since 1983, most of the time I take it straight up black.
  3. My blood type is AB+. I’m the third in blood type rarity, but the good news is I’m the universal recipient.  I guess I’m in the clear if I need to cash in on a blood bank someday, huh? Let’s hope that never happens.
  4. I hate syringes, if one gets in proximity, then my thoughts immediately are, “It’s time to go to my quiet happy place.” and without fail every time I look away.
  5. I wore braces two years after I graduated college. My teeth were crook it, but thankfully I wasn’t. lol. But, the real problem is I had TMJ and suffered from bad headaches.
  6. I’m addicted to Spider Solitaire so much I have an app on my smartphone and play periodically throughout the day.  Hey, it exercises for my brain. Don’t laugh, I have one you know.
  7. I want to take an art class to learn how to draw or to paint with watercolors someday. No one draws stick people better than my darling husband.  I would like to at least outdo him someday, but that may have to be a forever fantasy.  How can I compete with such great talent?

Like I mentioned, selecting deserving bloggers is always the most difficult part.  In making my picks, I visit many blogs and then I simply listen to my heart’s direction (God talking to me).  Let me say, I follow so many wonderful blogs and there are more out there I don’t if by chance you’re visiting and wonder, “Where’s my award, Cathy?”  Just consider yourselves an honorable mention of this award because I truly believe in my heart each of my loyal blogging buds deserves their own Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award.

Now….let’s give a great big round of applauds to the following…

Kindly visit my Irresistibly Sweet Blogging friends and leave a sweet comment.  You know, this small gesture will surely make them all warm and fuzzy on the inside.  Wouldn’t it be nice to spread a little love?

Finally, allow me to say, “Mucho gracias Marie, my sweet friend!” If I were there with you now, then I’d like to give you…

a hug!

Happy Blogging to each of you and share some love with your blogging pals!

Life is Good Award

The Life is Good Award recipient requirements are as follows:

  • Thank and put a link back to the person who so kindly gave this award.
  • Share a few things about yourself.
  • Pass the award onto some other bloggers you deem deserving.
  • Inform these said bloggers that they have received the award.

I’m flabbergasted by another blogging award.  You’re very kind, Debbie, for naming me one of the recipients of the ‘Life is Good’ award.  Check out Debbie’s blog, No Filter Mom . Cute name, huh? She is a cutie-pie 40-something mom of two little boys. I know she has her hands full, don’t you suppose? LOL.

*  I’m slow to getting jokes…sometimes.

*  Cyberspace screw ups drive me bonkers, like lost emails or links not working, etc

*  I prefer baked goodies over candy. Yeah, it has become a revolving change over the years.  It used to be the other way around.

*  My voice is tiny. I’m sometimes mistaken for a kid on the phone. Don’t you just love that?

*  One of my favorite chewy candies is salt water taffy.

*  I’m all for making prisons seem like prison again – remove internet access and cable TV, take away cell phones or other creature comforts.  They are criminals why treat them like they are at the Ritz Carlton or something? Our military gets the worse end of the shaft than most prisoners do. What sense is that? NONE! (Sorry for the ranting!)

*  When I was very young, my parents lived in a two room house and we had an outhouse.  I kid you not!

Just when you think you know me, I really throw some surprises in there for you. LOL.  Now to share this lovely award with of my blogging buddies.  Come on down…

Shelly is a proud working Christian momma of four kiddos and a devoted wife to her husband of 14 years.  She wears her faith on her blog so-to-speak and I hope you’ll take the time to visit with her.

Linda shares bits and pieces of her life in her blog.  I feel a comforting connection with her, as she displays her faith in Christ with the world, her love for her husband, and her family. Characteristics which I cherish.

Nichelle is a very, courageous young woman whose life took an unexpected spill in January 2010. I’m  impressed with  her overall upbeat personality but my heart feels her sorrows which she shares.

Amanda’s Blog: A Writer's JourneyAmanda, a good friend of mine, blogs about her writing journey to the publishing world as a Family Saga Novelist. Her nature style and ability tell me one day soon she’ll get her book series into print.

This award truly is a privilege. Once more thank you, Debbie, @ No Filter Mom for bestowing this surprise my way.  Anytime someone in blogosphere passes an award to you, it’s a good feeling knowing someone has taken the time, attention, and effort in making my day a little brighter.  I invite you to visit all of these fine bloggers whom I passing the torch to. Perhaps, you’ll find someone new to call ‘friend’.  Life is truly Good!
