Cathy Chats,  Get To Know Me (g2km)

g2km part 4: Question 51-60 #CathyChats

I don’t know if I’d go so far to call Tuesday Monday’s ugly sister but some Tuesday make me think it’s Monday all over again.  How are y’all doing this morning, kittens & dawgs! A couple of weeks ago I shared a long forgotten song 123 Redlight by 1910 Fruitgum Company which spurred the memories of Steve of the bubblegum sound of Ohio Express Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, another song I forgot all about until the reminder. What’s interesting is I learned they recorded the Scooby-Doo theme song. Anywho, while poking around YouTube I found this playlist the full album The Very Best of Ohio Express. (Song Tracks: 00:00 Yummy, Yummy, Yummy 02:18 Nothing Sweeter Than My Baby 04:37 Lucky 06:45 Sweeter Than Sugar 08:49 Nighttime 10:37 Chewy, Chewy 13:17 She’s Not Comin’ Home 16:04 Gimme Gimme 18:40 1, 2, 3, Red Light 20:52 Down at Lulu’s 22:46 Firebird 25:17 Sausalito (Is the Place to Go) 27:35 Pinch Me (Baby, Convince Me) 30:10 Mercy)

51.  What is the one item you can’t leave home without? Other than my purse, I’d have to say my cell phone. I remember the day when I worried about forgetting one of the children and now I worry about a phone!

52.  What is your favorite music genre? I love all kinds of mewsic but if I have to pick one genre then I’d have to go with “Rock”. That’s a broad category so I can narrow down a more specific period my mewsical enjoyment the 60s – 80s. These were the years to crank out the most mewsic with the most memories for me.

53.  What is the furthest you’ve ever been from home? In 1997, we took a business trip that we turned into a mini-family vacation where we lodged in Bar Harbor for three or four nights. One day, we drove to West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec, Maine. It was amazing. The fog rolled in suddenly triggering the lighthouse horn, talk about loud, just before a hail pelted us. We ran like crazy to the car to avoid injury. That was no easy task while carrying a toddler while hurrying along two young girls under the age of 10. We beat DH to the car but he had the keys. That’s almost 1300 miles from Knoxville!

54. Who is the best teacher you ever had? I had a lot of good teachers. It’s hard to see who was the best but I had some favorites which included Mrs. Holly (first-grade and later 7th grade science), Miss Spivey (Home Ec), Miss Smare (English), and Mr. Wimmer (Art).

55.  Who is the first person you call when something exciting happens? Assuming DH already knows the good mews then I generally call my mom.

56.  Who is the first person you call when something horrible happens? Again assuming DH already knows, and depending on what the bad mews is then I call either my folks or my kiddies.

57.  What is your most embarrassing moment? Funny as it sounds but the most embarrassing moment I had was when my 5-year old daughter snapped a picture of me in the shower. Nothing was revealing, she only got my head as the curtain was partially pulled up at the back and I was shaving my legs.  At the time, I didn’t know what she was getting and had to wait to get the film developed.

57.  What are some of your bad habits? One of my worse habits is I don’t say the ending of some of my words. I think I do this especially when I talk too fast. My brain and mouth don’t work together like they should.

59.  Who is your favorite musician? Hmm, that’s a tough one. I like so many different artists. I don’t know that I have a favorite. In the late 70s, Chicago and Bread were my two favorite groups.

60.  What is the first movie you remember seeing? I remember going to the movies when I was very young, perhap grade school. Me and a few friends went to a Saturday matinee a few times but I can’t recall what the movie was other than it was old horror film like Frankenstein or Dracula but the first movie I recall by title was Sasquatch The Legend of Bigfoot. It scared me to death, too.

I born and raised in the Appalachian mountains of southern WV. I was a child bride when I married my high school sweetheart in 1979. We moved to Knoxville, TN to begin our life. Determined to prove nay-Sayers from our community wrong, I completed my education and went on to earn an A.S. in computer programming. From 1983-1987, I worked as a computer system’s manager. That’s a glorified title for someone who trouble shoots and maintains system back-ups. After the birth of our first child in 1988, I took early retirement. What have I been doing for the last 25+ years? I am proud to say, I am a SAHM and for most of those years I home-schooled our three children from K-12. Now, the nest is empty.

When I leave my house, I always have my purse and my cellphone. My favorite mewsic is rock. The furthest I’ve from home is England. I lived in FL at the time. I have also been to Alaska. It is a beautiful state to visit. Let’s say, I have had only one bad teacher/professor. Embarrassing moments – one that I recall was while bowling I fell down and the ball continued down the gutter. Bad habits- I talk too fast. Favorite musician – Roy Orbison. First movie I remember seeing – Peter Pan.

      Eugenia,

Oh thanks for adding your responses to my questions in comments. I have another embarrassing moment I thought of and that was walking face first into a glass revolving door. It was the first time I’d ever been in one and mistaking tried exiting too soon which addled me. DH nearly broke a rib laughing so hard at me and I turned every shade of red possible. If there was a rock, I would’ve crawled under it. After I regained my senses I laughed, too. 😀

I have had many embarrassing moments but being on the plane, when I was 18, and the washroom door being opened for everyone to see me on the John. I didn’t close the door correctly so s9meone opened it and voila! I can’t leave the house without …my pants, I just feel a bit naked without them😀. The farthest I have been from home was when I went to Budapest, Hungary and Prague in the Czech Republic. I miss my mom and she would have been my first choice after my hubby so after my hubby the first I call no matter what, is my best friend. I love classical music and rock, folk…most except for rap, heavy metal, hip hop. I love Beethoven, Andre Rieu, Roy Orbison, Simon & Garfunkel and rock music-Led Zeppelin, The Doors and the Great Moody Blues and, of course, ABBA

      Birgit,

Oh no, taking about having an exposure problem! 🙂 Your comment about can’t leave the house without your pants reminded me recently an FB friend posted that she went to work without hers. She was wearing a long shirt but wasn’t long enough to make it due, so she had to go back home to get her pants on. I nearly died when I read that! Thanks for telling me more about you, ole pal!

One of the first movies I remember watching on TV was an old black and white version of Dracula. Scared me so much I hated having my windows open that summer, I was sure Dracula was going to come get me. Of course summer in California, open windows were a must.

It is funny that you needed to wait to get your film developed back then. Chicago was the first concert I ever went to, 1985. I feel so old.

      John,

I sorta remembered, so I double checked your link to refresh my memory. I went with Bacarra which I think was an introduction. Yeah, feel free to borrow my questions and use them anytime! I wonder if I should fix my linky to not expire, so others can join at their leisure when they use a set of questions. Hmmm, I’ll have to think about this.

I hear you on the cell phone! I feel disfunctional without mine now. I like Tuesdays better than Monday. Monday gets me back into the drudgery of the workweek and by Tuesday, I’ve got some of that stuff done, and it’s that much closer to the weekend. Plus, all the good shows are on CBS on Tuesday. lol

  • scr4pl80

Great questions. Funny about the cellphone. For sure I’ve gone back to the house to get mine. Rock, yes but not hard or heavy metal. I live in California and I have been to Alaska. I’ve blocked all my embarrassing moments. I call my husband first with good or bad news and then the kids second. I’m sure my first movie was something Disney. I have fond memories of the drive in and going into San Francisco to the show with my mom. Nice questions!

    • Cathy Kennedy

      Janet,

I’d love to visit Alaska but that’s definitely too far to drive so I guess I’ll have to admire it from afar. Oh yeah, I’m sure I have mental blocks on some embarrassing moments, too. Unfortunately, there are still many at the front of my brain.

      Sandee,

It’s kinda hard to leave the house without your car. lol Of course, usually when I leave the house alone then it’s either on foot or by cab. I’m always double checking to make sure I don’t leave something important behind since it would be a big deal to go back to get it. There was a time I would like to see Hawaii but these days I’m content with seeing some of my favorites inland. Oh, I talk too loud, too. DH is like, “Is anyone saying, can you repeat that?” 😀 Thanks for playing along.

💕I love comments! Have a purrfect day & thanks for stopping by!💕
