Blog Post Repairs Inspired Today’s Mewsic

Puritan's Pride Vitamins

While the Cathy is away the mice will play? But, how it’s summer what should I expect, right? I’m going a little playing and whole lot of tackling odd jobs.  One thing I’m busy taking care of and am making good progress on is repairing blog posts. You know pesky broken links, missing posts, grammar corrections, rearranging lay out, or whatever catches my eye.

One of the broken links I fixed happened to be a video Katrina and the Waves.  You probably remember this British-American rock band for their 1985 smash hit, Walking on Sunshine.

Honestly, I don’t remember any other productions by the group. They won the Eurovision Song Contest with Love Shine a Light in 1997 and this is an introduction to me.

The Bangles’ covered “Going Down to Liverpool” in 1984; written by Kimberley Rew former KATW’s guitartist and recorded a year later by Katrina and the Waves.

CHINA BEACH was a TV series I enjoyed watching when time allowed in the 90s. Katrina and the Waves featuring Eric Burdon recorded, “We Got to Get Out of This Place” for the show.

Katrina is a talent that got lost somewhere in my mind or on the airwaves or both.  If she slipped off your radar to then allow me to share some of her newer works.

In 2004, Katrina released her first solo album, TURN THE TIDE.

From her 2011 album SPIRITUALIZE I found the track, “There Is a Light”.

2014, Katrina release BLISLAND. Let me call to your attention track two, Sun Coming Upper, on this playlist I particularly like and I hope you listen to it.

Last month, her newest album THE VERY BEST OF KATRINA featuring many of the songs I share with you today if interested, you can find it below!

It was great to catch up with Katrina. It’s good to know that she’s still making music. I really liked that Sun Coming Upper song, too!

I’m glad Katrina is doing so much more. I love that one song that is big from the 1980’s but she has a great voice so it’s nice to hear what else she has accomplished

      Birgit,

I think it’s neat to learn what became of groups I lost track with over the years. Katrina is talented and it’s great to find out she’s going it solo. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor today!

Her music actually holds up really well, and it sounds like she’s still at it, if separated from The Waves. I really liked “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place”; she and Eric Burdon sound really good together. I doubt she’ll try covering “Spill The Wine,” though. XD

For some reason, I remember an episode of “The Big Bang Theory” where Stuart (the guy from the comic book store) wanted to do “Walkin’ On Sunshine” when they were singing karaoke…

John, Yeah I like “We Gotta Get Out of This Place”. Katrina and Eric do a great job on it. I just realized this is a cover of The Animals 1965 hit. I’m not familiar with “Spill The Wine”, so I looked it up on YouTube. After listening to it, I can’t ever see Katrina covering it either. I did notice Eric Burdon worked with War on this song, though. I wasn’t too crazy about the song. You know, I’ve not ever watched the show “The Big Bang Theory” but I’ve heard it’s good. 🙂

War did a good job on that song. I think they did a whole album together. “Spill The Wine” was big when I bought my first stereo (with my grammar school graduation money), and I had the single and played it until my mother went nuts. Heh heh heh…

Well, I’ll tell you what I thought I’d never get rid of that song in my head it being in that commercial “Walking on Sunshine”, over and over and over…. oh my goodness, but now that I haven’t heard it in so long it sounds pretty good and what a fantastic voice she has. Had a doctor’s appointment today some I’m running late… time to move on…. ooops ROCK ON!!!! Woo Hoo~~~ Great choice today my friend! BIG HUGS!

Love listening to music Cathy but I pretty much can’t tell you who sings what! I just listen and I know what I like. Right now sitting on the deck listening to the birds sing along with my Oldies station. They play the songs of the 60s, 70s and 80s…Now I can do without the 80s but I totally love the 60s and the 70s…Matter of fact, I think the 70s had the best and most awesome music.

      Pam,

I’m not too good with what artists does what. I’m like you I know what I like and that’s it. The 60s and 70s were golden years for some fab mewsic but the 80s produced some great tunes from which most of my early adult memories are tied to. 🙂

I LOVE Walking on Sunshine – it always makes me happy (and I feel decades younger) when I hear it – thanks for the happy memory 🙂
