Affinity photoedit play Cumberland Falls Kentucky #WW

Welcome Kittens & Dawgs to not-so Wordless Wednesday! A few years ago one of our day trips took us north to the state of Kentucky. We visited Cumberland Falls State Park. It was a gorgeous day. However photographing the river wasn’t the best time because of heavy rains received earlier that week. The water wasn’t pretty, just muddy brown. Using the above photo in my Affinity photo-editing software I altered the image feel by changing the temperature. The blue hue is kinda cool, but I really like how the next photo-ed turned out. Nothing super magical in what I did, but the fun opportunity to playfully manipulate the original to…

    The Partridge Family?

Hello, kittens and dawgs!  Three years ago this month, I featured The Partridge Family on Saturday Songsuasion in one of my very first editions. I thought it would be cool to learn what became of The Partridge Family TV show band members in this edition of What ever happened to….? Let’s begin in reverse order by starting with the youngest family member. Suzanne Crough starred as little Tracy Partridge. After The Partridge Family, Suzanne made several TV movies and guest appearances on TV shows. She graduated from Los Angelo’s Pierce College, married William Condray in 1985, mother of two daughters, bookstore owner, and an OfficeMax manager.  It seems her life…

    The Traveling Wilburys

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs a couple of weeks ago I kicked off the post series. In my first edition, I shared with you What ever happened to ELO? Several bloggers left comments of interest, but one person mention today’s featured band. I had no clue why until I took a quick peek to learn the Traveling Wilburys consists of several well-known music talents: Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and none other than Jeff Lynne (ELO). If you’re wondering how this mega talented band came up with The Traveling Wilburys for their group. Wilbury is slang for “We’ll bury ’em in the mix” used by Harrison during a…

    Jen Hirsh is Monogem

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs. Welcome to another edition of Saturday Songsuasion. This morning’s featured artist is singer/songwriter, Jen Hirsh. This gal has blend of dreamy electro-pop disco music and soulful funky vocals which makes me want to get to my feet and….dance! It’s time to wake you sleepy heads up. Turn those speakers on and be prepared to boogie with Monogem! What’s with the name? A monogem ring is a supernova remnants. In short the afterglow from an exploding star. Monogem is a hopeful exploding music star and I think that’s pretty clever for band name, don’t you? 😉 Follow Monogem at one or all of these social networks:  …

    Marriage #humor plus Friendly Fill-ins & CTST

Good day kittens and dawgs! In honor of my parents 56th wedding anniversary I thought I share marriage giggles.       The below joke I found at an internet source and decided to change the anniversary year to match my parents’ and to remove a curse word. 😀 Once upon a time, a married couple like me, celebrated their 56th marriage anniversary with a lot of fun & flair. They had become the ‘most infamous couple’ of the city for not having a single conflict during their period of 56 long years! Local newspaper editors too had gathered at the occasion to find out the secret of their well…

    Newfound Gap Picture photo-edits #WW

Welcome Kittens & Dawgs last summer this time we were in the Smoky’s when I snapped this shot over looking the North Carolina valley from Newfound Gap. The first picture there are not edits done other than adding my copyright. In the second one, I dabbled with Stylize feature in Pixelmator called Pointillize. Here, I applied a blue glitter background as an overlay. It reminded me of snow falling, but the landscape still said summer. So, on the background image I inverted the colors giving the over-all effect of a stormy night or at least this is the feeling I get when I look at it. Do you feel any…

    Bobby Sherman

Hello kittens and dawgs! Have you ever wondered, what ever happened to so-and-so? That happens often with me when I’m listening to an oldies music station or while watching TV. I’m Curious as a Cathy who needs answers to these questions and so a new post series is born. Today let’s take a look at What ever happened to Bobby Sherman? I was born in the early 60s. By the time I was in elementary school Bobby Sherman was the heart-throb of the older girls. I remember watching 5th and 6th grade girls dance to this music idol. I was only 9 years old when his 1970 hit charted the…

Battle of the Bands,  Monday's Music Moves Me

    Heart of Glass #BoTB winner

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! Last Monday, I asked y’all to vote in Heart of Glass cover #BoTB showdown between rival artists Old School Freight Train VS. Nouvelle Vague.  In this battle, OSFT lived up too its name in more than one way. The dragging tempo being the worse offender and then the nail of death the 2-minute longer version nearly making it a shut out win for the opponent; most people commented that OSFT’s rendition was a bit depressing with the sluggish rhythm, too. Oddly enough, I liked Old School Freight Train and gave them my vote, but even with my tally Nouvelle Vague won by a landslide 12 to…

    Electric Hippo #music

Good morning, kittens & dawgs this morning’s ReverbNation pick is Electric Hippo! The artists’ bio reads: Phiilo (formerly Electric Hippo) ties together the power of EDM with the rhythm and fluidity of funk, jazz, rock, and soul. Live instruments—primarily Nick’s distinct and technical style of electric guitar—are incorporated alongside experiments in digital sound production and Jonny’s broad vocal range. These components, while designed individually with high attention to detail, combine to create what is best described as stylistic electronic compositions. After meeting in Boulder, Colorado, Nick and Jonny capitalized on a unique musical chemistry and immediately started jamming, writing what would become the first few Electric Hippo singles (including “Closer,”…

Photo-editing Water Rock Knob image #WW

Welcome Kittens & Dawgs to this week’s edition of not-so Wordless Wednesday. I’m once again photo-editing an archived photo. Today’s featured image is from Water Rock Knob Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I used two programs creating different images with the above picture. You decide which you like the best. One of these days, I need to actually do a tutorial to learn more about these features. There is so much more I can do, if I just learn. *sigh* Oh well, I like the feel of these new images. The sky looks a lot more interesting in both pictures over the original.  A few tweaks here and there…

    What ever happened to ELO?

Lately, I’ve wondered, “What ever happened to so-and-so artist?” and while listening to John’s Monday music from The Sound of One Hand Typing when the same thing popped in my head.  That’s when I had the bright idea to create a series of posts bearing the What ever happened to title. It was John’s feature song Mister Blue Sky that got me thinking about today’s group and like the bright idea it is, it’s only fitting my first selection is none other than Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). I often wonder how the group came up with its name. Is there a connection with the bands’ name and electricity? The group…

Heart of Glass cover #BOTB showdown

Good-day, kittens & dawgs! It’s mid-month, as we face another round of Battle of the Bands. Today’s battle cover song goes back more than three decades. Debbie Harry wrote “Heart of Glass” (reference only – not included in BOTB) in 1975 named “Once I Had A Love”. It had a slower, funkier sound with a basic disco beat that the band called “The Disco Song“(just for fun). It wasn’t until the group was working on their album Parallel Lines that they decided to dust this song off to make over becoming the album’s third single to chart number one in several countries in 1979. I’m featuring two new-to-me bands covering…

    Juliana Daily #music

Good-morning, kittens & dawgs! Meet native New Yorker turned Tennessee gal, Juliana! She describes herself as a “slow-walker, fast-talker, coffee-fiend, music-machine.” lol I can sort related to 3 out of 4 of these characteristics. Halfway through college, Juliana actively pursued songwriting while learning to play the guitar. Soon she shared her music at open mic nights; a friend suggested posting some her early video online that enthusiastically generated a 50,000 subscriber fan base and over 11 million views. That’s pretty amazing! In February 2014, she released her first full-length album.  I invite you to listen to these 11 cuts found on Slow Love.   You can follow Juliana at these…
