#BurtReynolds Movie Theme #Songs Move Me #BoTBresults

Let me make a quick announcement about my July 1st BoTB, kittens and dawgs. Despite extending the voting poll period, the showdown remained very lopsided. Def Leppard carried this contest from start to finish winning 12 to 4. I gave my vote to Taylor in the end, but it didn’t help the poor gal. Contender #1 was too strong. Congratulations go to Def Leppard!

Round 2 of BoTB picks up on the 15th, if you carry to weigh in on the voting. Meanwhile, it’s time to put your dance shoes on and hit the floor with me!

Last month, Burt Reynolds was in town shooting a new film. I got to see him; he drove on to the set within 4 feet from where I stood. Whoo-hoo! See?

This month, I’m helping my good blogger pal, XmasDolly and the 4M crew. One of her chicks is out on vacation, so I’m filling her dance shoes as a temporary co-host. There is no theme this week, so this is a perfect time to feature Burt Reynolds movie theme songs. Let’s get this party started!

The Smokey and the Bandit series are my favorites featuring Mr. Reynolds, but another fun classic from 1981,  The Cannonball Run with Ray Stevens singing the theme song.

Sarah Vaughan singing Sharky’s Machine love song theme (1981) with Burt and Rachel Ward.

How Do You Keep the Music Playing from the film, Best Friends (1982) with Burt and Goldie Hawn.

The Charlie Daniels Band sang the theme song for the 1983 flick Stroker Ace with Burt, Loni Anderson, Jim Nabors, and Ned Beatty.

This small sample of movie theme songs puts me in the mood to go on Burt Reynolds movie binge. Check IMDb for a his complete filmography. I wanted to met Burt Reynolds, but I didn’t get that opportunity. I tweeted the director to be an extra, but I never got the chance to do that, either. *sigh* Oh well, it was awesome to see such a big star in person. Whoo-hoo!

I barely got this shot with everyone hovering around the star. Thank heavens for zoom lens! He never looked over his shoulder at the crowd.

What’s the first movie that comes to mind when you think Burt Reynolds?

I born and raised in the Appalachian mountains of southern WV. I was a child bride when I married my high school sweetheart in 1979. We moved to Knoxville, TN to begin our life. Determined to prove nay-Sayers from our community wrong, I completed my education and went on to earn an A.S. in computer programming. From 1983-1987, I worked as a computer system’s manager. That’s a glorified title for someone who trouble shoots and maintains system back-ups. After the birth of our first child in 1988, I took early retirement. What have I been doing for the last 25+ years? I am proud to say, I am a SAHM and for most of those years I home-schooled our three children from K-12. Now, the nest is empty.

I think I clicked out before my comment posted, so I’m going to post again, from memory.
Though my pick won, I would have been pleased as punch if Taylor had won.
Thanks for the fun songs today. I’m a Smokey and the Bandit fan and Cannonball Run is one of my favourite films of all time. Thanks for sharing.

Jeffrey, yeah Taylor didn’t stand a chance against Def Leppard, but I liked her version. I’m delighted you enjoyed the Burt Reynolds Movie Theme songs. He’s a fabulous actor, but his comedy roles are the best and he’s a real natural doing funny stuff!

Oh my gosh, now I’m gonna have to watch the movie… it was a cute one so I don’t mind… love the tune. It’s just kinda makes you happy and gets ya movin’! Sorry I’m so late, but with 2 days wake and then the funeral… I’m 3 days behind on everything. Sorry, and thanks for holdin’ down the fort! hugs

Marie, no worries about dancing late with this gal. I MORE than understand! You’re quite welcome. I’m happy to help when I can. Keep the groove in your move, my friend!

Great set, and a great idea for a theme! I’m glad you started with Jerry Reed, CGP, and one of my favorite tunes. Funny, I just featured Paul Williams on Two for Tuesday… he was in “Smokey and the Bandit.”

I was on a William Diehl kick for a while, but didn’t get to “Sharky’s Machine.” I live near Atlanta and everything.

    • Cathy Kennedy

John, Yeah, I remember Paul Williams was in Smokey and the Bandit now that you mentioned it. Ha, I didn’t know who William Diehl is until now. That’s interesting he wrote Sharky’s Machine. We’ve visited Atlanta a few times over the year. The traffic is horrible! lol Did you know the TV series The Vampire Diaries is filmed near Atlanta in Convington? I told DH that we need to make a trip there just so I can photograph it. Thanks for popping over, now I’m headed your way!

Steve, great to see you on the dance floor! Of these Burt Reynolds flicks I don’t remember watching Deliverance, but it’s now on Netflix and I plan to catch it. Have a funtastic week, my friend. I’m heading your way now!

I was on the winning Def Leppard side! It was an easy call for me.

First Burt Reynolds movie I think of is one of my favorite films–Deliverance. Started on our trip today and one of the songs that came on the radio was the “Theme from Cannonball Run” by Chuck Mangione. Great song! I don’t know that I’ve seen the film but if I did it’s been many years ago so I don’t know which part the instrumental I heard and where the Ray Stevens song appeared. I’ll have to check out that film.

Lee, most people were on the winning end this round. lol It was hard voting against Def Leppard, but there’s something that spoke to me in Taylor’s version that I liked. Deliverance is now on Netflix, so I’m looking forward to watching it. I do recall the movie, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it. It came out in the early 70s when I was 10 or 11 years old. Burt was in several super fun movies in the 80s and 90s. He’s a natural in comedy, but he’s a fantastic actor who does drama or action/adventure very well, too. He has one of the best smiles, too. Thanks for popping over. I’m off to see you next!

💕I love comments! Have a purrfect day & thanks for stopping by!💕
